Great School
A Strong Economy for All Australians

The Gillard Government believes in the transformative power of education

and is deeply committed to making every Australian school a great school.
This will help our kids get a world class education and the best start in life.
That’s why the 2011-2012 Budget has delivered over half a billion
dollars of funding to ensure we recognise and reward quality teachers
and improve schools.

Students with Disabilities

We are delivering a $200 million package to support students with a disability
in our Government, Catholic and Independent schools, including new services such
as speech and occupational therapy delivered at school, additional hours of in-class
support and access to specialist equipment.

Teacher Pay
We are delivering on our commitment to bring in Australia’s first national
system of pay bonuses for around 25,000 – or one in 10 – of our best teachers.
We are doing this because we know teachers play a huge role and giving children
the best start in life possible.

National Trade Cadetships Program

Authorised by N.Martin for the ALP, 5/9 Sydney Ave. Barton ACT.
From 2012 students from years 9 to 12 will be offered a new National Trade
Cadetship as an option under the Australian Curriculum. This Cadetship will be
delivered through their local Trades Training Centre and other eligible venues. Up to 50
000 additional structured work experience places will also be provided to students.

School Chaplaincy
The National School Chaplaincy Program supports schools and their
communities to establish school chaplaincy services or to enhance existing
services. The Gillard Labor Government through the Budget has committed $222
million to fund services for up to 3700 schools.

The Federal Labor Government has nearly doubled

the national education budget.
