Strategies for optimizing your June Break

1. Start by organising your notes. For each subject, have the syllabus on hand so that you may know the
learning objectives. Syllabi are available on http://www.seab.gov.sg/aLevel/syllabusSchool_Info.html.
Scrutinize the learning objectives and draw out the points in your lecture notes that meet the requirement.
Use the syllabus as a checklist. Tick against each learning objective when you think you have understood it
and are confident of answering it correctly.
2. Write down on the Jun calendar how you intend to spread out your revision. Aim to spend at least 6 hours per
day on revision. But it is the quality and not quantity that matters. Remember to take breaks to remain sane.
Check your understanding with friends or your tutors.
3. Use post-it stickers to flag down areas that you may have doubt in. Go back to them later or ask your tutors
after you have amassed a few. Do not hesitate to approach others for help. “Ask and you may feel like a fool
for that moment, but if you don’t ask, you will be a fool for life.”
4. Scan the big picture first and then look at the details. Do not spend too much time on one concept. If you do
not understand it, get someone to explain. Learn to piece all the information and make connections.
5. The ABC towards life. Aim high. Believe in yourself. Commit to your plans.
