PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

head-on and creates positive change. An innovative individual, with a
proven ability to provide the leadership necessary to generate and
deliver innovative ideas and effective solutions in highly
competitive, rapidly changing business environments. An energetic
leader, with a track record of success and contributions to the
achievement of outstanding results in profitability, customer service
and quality performance.
BACKGROUND SUMMARY
_Broad experience in Manufacturing Operations, Management Consulting
and Energy Systems R Burkesville, Kentucky
_PRINCIPAL_
Conducted work and information process analysis for small to
large-sized companies in project environments. Initiated, planned,
executed, monitored and controlled, and closed projects focused on
process and efficiency improvement, quality system development, and
building design and construction.
*
ANALYZED PLANT BOTTLENECK. The firm was having trouble with a plant
workstation bottleneck that almost all the production went across,
causing orders to be shipped late. The plant was unionized by the
UAW. I watched the supposed bottleneck for a while and found that 1)
it was quite often idle and, 2) there was an unacceptable amount of
rework due to poor processing at this work station. It appeared to me
that the apparent capacity constraint could be fixed with scheduling,
and the scrap rate could be improved by upgrading the job to a higher
pay rate. RESULT: _I "jawboned" the situation to have the schedule
improved. There was a union issue involved. This action significantly
reduced the late order problem that had been the primary complaint._
DANIEL INDUSTRIES, INC., Houston, Texas

_INTERNAL CONSULTANT FOR PRODUCTION, MATERIAL MANAGEMENT AND

CONTROL_
Carried out project assignments across the manufacturing environment
to ensure optimal performance.
*
RESEARCHED AND PROPOSED AN "EXPERT SYSTEM" to automate the
design-to-order of several mature product lines. Using standardized
design parameters, the system printed bills of material, shop
drawings and shop routings as a result of selections made at order
entry. RESULT: _The automated approach significantly shortened order
placement to delivery lead times, and saved significant sums by
having several applications engineers reassigned to other
activities._
*
CO-MANAGED AN ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION PROCESS. Worked with peers to
initiate and plan the project. Interviewed the various operators in
the plant and documented their activities including, manufacturing
processes, order processing procedures, engineering procedures, test
procedures, auditing procedures and operating policies. RESULT: _The
division obtained ISO 9001 Certification on time and within budget._
_ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT_
Managed special projects as assigned by the division president. The
work included project managing the implementation of a manufacturing
resource planning (MRP) system and developing the associated
operating procedures, overseeing employee training, and analyzing the
work and information flow procedures. Examples of other support work
follow:
*
CONSULTED WITH THE IT DEPARTMENT to optimize the relationship
between the hands-on plant processes and the information processes.
Conducted a series of work process analyses and created process maps.
Worked with the internal IT staff to tailor the information gathering
and reporting procedures to reflect the operation's best practice.
RESULT: _A more effective, user friendly and all encompassing order
processing system._
*
DEVELOPED A DEMAND ANALYSIS PROCEDURE whereby market conditions,
plant capacity, material lead times, and production lead times were
analyzed systematically to generate master production schedules on a
monthly basis for the entire product line.
ADAIR FOUNDRY & IRON COMPANY, Houston, Texas

_OWNER_
Owner / Operator of a grey iron / ductile iron foundry supplying
medium to large sized (50 to 5,000 lbs) castings for the general
commercial and municipal markets.
*
PURCHASED AN OUT-OF-USE, DERELICT FOUNDRY, AND MADE IT OPERATIONAL.
At the time of purchase, not one piece of manufacturing equipment was
operational. Repaired the equipment and refurbished the facility to a
fully-operational state.
