motivated to keep going? What are your hopes and dreams?

EXTRA CREDIT (20 points: classwork 35% of your grade): Read the quotes below from
immigrant children and write a reflection. Option 1: You are a Senator in D.C. and are
proposing a law about immigrant children. Write a law that you think is fair about
what to do with undocumented children in the U.S. Do you think that there should be
a different law for children who were brought here not of their own choice? Why?
Option 2: Read David Garcia’s quote and respond to whether you agree or disagree
that “as a human being (all people) demand as much respect as any other..”. Why do
you agree or disagree with that statement? REFLECTIONS MUST BE AT LEAST 2
PARAGRAPHS!

I was brought to the United States when I was 6 years old. I crossed the
border with difficulty and can still remember what, how, or when it
happened. Today, I'm 16 years old, top student in my class, straight A's
and exceptional student. My dream is to become a pharmacologist or a
surgeon. I have a passion for science and history. My classmates always
tell me I’m a role model for them when it comes to education. But if
they only knew I’m an outcast for not having a thing called
"Citizenship". It worries me that my dreams may never come true and
fear that I will be deported. I do remember my home country, but this
is where I’ve been through my whole life pursuing my dreams to
become a better person. But I pray to God that someday I will have an
opportunity and demonstrate that no decree will prohibit me from
making my dreams come true because I feel like an American inside my
heart. I hope and pray that there will be a fair law to stop separating
families and crushing the dreams of hardworking and innocent people
who want a better life and opportunities.
