Dole Takes Nomination, Unofficially

On Tuesday, presidential hopeful, Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas
unofficially clinched the Republican nomination by taking thej
delegates in four states, Ohio, Illinios, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
996 delegates are needed to secure the nomination and many!
television and Associated Press delegate counts gave the 72-year
old Kansan more than that magic number. j
* Next Tuesday's California primary, with 165 delegates to be won
will signal the death blow to Dole's opponents.
With the nomination secured, Dole plans to spend the next few!
weeks focusing on his Senate duties.
