Textile Seals

S chlegel Systems’ technological expertise includes the ability to weave a

wide range of fibers into specified densities and form them into part
assemblies. Fiber “blends” can be tailored to seal film or photosensitive
surfaces without scratching or causing damage. If electrostatics play a
role in material selection, SCHLEGEL engineers can assist you in selecting
materials that optimize the triboelectric relationship between the seal
and surface. Where extreme temperature and humidity conditions are
concerns, we have the right fibers and blends to meet your needs.

Acrylic
Thermoplastic fibers can be woven and
heat set. Acrylic has good chemical and
UV resistance.

Modacrylic
Similar to acrylic but with superior
chemical and combustion characteristics.

Nomex* aramid fiber

Textile Seal Benefits Good oxidation resistance; thermal
resistance to 500°F (260°C).

VERSATILITY:
Fibers or fiber blends, seal dimensions and finishing are tailored to customer Nylon
requirements. Strong, elastic, flexible; abrasion
resistant and lightweight.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:
Our fibers can be blended so they are highly resistant to commonly used acids, Non-flammable in air; thermal
alkalis and solvents. resistance; little or no smoke to
300°F (149°C); excellent resistance

TEMPERATURE / HUMIDITY RESISTANCE: to acids, bases, organic solvents

Special fiber blends can be woven to meet performance requirements for and fuels.
extreme environmental conditions.
Polyester

LOW FRICTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Strong; resists shrinkage and stretching.

Schlegel textile seals can be tailored for use against a moving part.
Polypropylene

INNOCUOUS: Moisture resistant; strong; abrasion
