OBJECTIVE:
To obtain a new position as a Legal Secretary, with Administrative and excellent
proofreading skills for at least five more years.

EMPLOYMENT:
05/01/08 through current: Robert Half Legal Employment Agency.
Temporary assignments to enable me to keep my current skills and enable
me to earn some income. Various assignments including:
Worthington Industries, Ohio, August through October 2008. The position was a
fill-in to allow an administrative secretary to be promoted within. I did in
terview for the open position as did another approximate 40 candidates. My dut
ies included opening mail, daily filing, typing corporate documents for the t
wo attorneys I was working with and the paralegal. My one primary duty while t
here was getting all the documents in final form for the Annual Shareholders m
eeting in early October 2008.
Alton and Barclay. I worked for this small law firm for nearly three mo
nths, February through April, 2009, doing routine secretarial duties such as
opening mail, faxing, copying, scheduling, setting up new files, dicta
tion from the machine, and unplanned dictation from Mr. Alton via over the p
hone. I was the backup phone operator, ordered supplies and kept files
updated for trial and current work flow.
Eugene P. Weiss. This was a one week assignment as a legal secretary f
or a one attorney office. Mr. Weiss worked in workers' compensation, and al
so prepared wills and trusts for various clients. The phone duties were
very heavy and I screened and announced his calls and took messages. The r
emainder of my time was spent transcribing correspondence, preparing the
mail for pickup, faxing and other routine secretarial duties.
09/10/01 through 3/8/08: Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P., Columbus, Ohio. Init
ially, Executive Legal Secretary to three attorneys in the litigation and enviro
nmental practices of law. Upon departure of two of the attorneys, I elected to
serve as a Multi-Practice Secretary, filling in where needed on a day-by-day, or
week-by-week basis.
Maintained files, as well as sending inactive files to archive, monitoring mail
and drafting of letters for the attorneyas approval and revision. Utilizing ele
ctronic filing system in connection with setting up new files or adding to old f
iles.
After opening mail, I would draft an appropriate response letter if time permitt
ed.
Coordinated filing documents by determining how many copies the particular Court
would need and then completing a form for pick up by a courier; preparing servi
ce letters and having ready to post upon return of file-stamped copies.
Distribution of pleadings to those attorneys involved by maintaining a list of t
hose working on the particular case.
Typing, answering phones, some dictation, distribution of mail. Attention to de
tail and continuously reaching to preserve an excellent work ethic.
Maintain and update docketing calendar and hard copy calendar until firm-wide do
cketing agent was hired. I have also used a docketing system, but it was an old
er program, Case Master.
Prepare expense reports, check requests and advance cash requests.
Prepare correspondence, contracts (including redlining), charts, presentations a
nd other documents and materials. Utilization of Excel and Power Point for some
of the work.
Schedule and coordinate meetings, conference calls and travel arrangements.
Provide back-up support for other secretaries throughout the department.
Maintain and update the New Client Information as listed on memorandum to secret
aries on Monday mornings.
Initial drafting of engagement schedules, letters, confidentiality agreements, e
valuation agreements, by copying old forms in file and making appropriate adjust
ments to the best of my ability. Editing same after attorneysa review.
Ensure compliance with all of Firmas policies and procedures.
Maintaining confidentiality in all areas, according to the Ethics of the Profess
ional Legal Secretary.

09/01/95 through 04/20/01: A.M. Fishman Co., L.P.A., Co., Columbus, Ohio. My pe
rsonal injury experience here was really interesting to me. I worked at the Fis
hman law offices from 1995 through April 2001. In 2001 Mr. Fishman was down-siz
ing and I was the last one that worked there with him. He was a personal injury
attorney and was very dramatic in his work ethics and day-to-day practice. The
re was never a dull moment. I did everything you could imagine, from ordering s
upplies, doing dishes, making sure the copier was working, to secretarial typing
, initial interviewing of clients, either by telephone or in office, and doing s
ome initial drafting of demand letters, filing, entries in Case Master, and othe
r miscellaneous duties. Mr. Fishman is now deceased.
1980 a" Sept. 1997: Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter, Columbus, Ohio. Over the peri
od of 17 years worked with Larry K. Carnahan, Partner, Taxation and Mergers and
Acquisitions (7 years), Paul D. Ritter, Jr., Partner, Taxation; (5 years) Positi
on of Floater Secretary (3 years) and as a Word Processor (2 years).

EDUCATION: Teays Valley High School, Ashville, Ohio.


SKILLS: Typing 120+ wpm, Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Express,
and Internet Explorer, and limited experience with Power Point and Adobe.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Substantial time spent as a Word Processing Operator
, proficient in styling documents, pdf-ing documents, other scanning projects, b
ookmarking, burning information to cds, and other essential skills necessary to
help those at lower skill levels.
