CARNATION BALL AND HAMM'S PARTY HIGHLIGHT TEKB ALUMNI SOCIAL

SEASON

_ The evening of Ap.ri1 2nd, th-e date of_the C&rnatiQn£all __ w.as an_evening to _

remember for Teke Alumni, undergraduates, dates and friends. From the moment
of arrival at Frater Goth's California Street apartment for cocktails to the last
dance, it was a full evening to be sure!
At the Ball, two events captured ever yone's a.ttention. The crowning of Miss
Barbara Majesky, Kappa Alpha Theta, as Carnation Girl and the awards to the
undergraduates. The alumni awards, presented to undergraduate members for
scholarship, campus activities, or a combination of both went to: £d Pollack '61,
Ontario; Bill Donovan '61, El Cerrito; Denis Vineys '62, Pittsburg; Don Kendall '61,
Burlingame; Frank Sally '60, Castro Valley; Bob LaLiberte '61, Palo Alto., and
Dan Baker '61, A rlington, Virginia. The Tau Kappa Epsilon Mothers' Club awards
went to Bill Donovan '61. El Cerrito and Jim Seger '62, San Jose. The awards were
ca sh and monogramed billfolds.
Right after the Carnation Ball, John Tilbury '58, Prytanis, sent out the announce
ments for the Fourth Annual Teke Nite at Hamm's. The event held in the 'Land Of
The Sky Blue Water' Room, high atop Hamrn's Brewery (the most commanding
view in the city) . drew 50 fraters and their friends. This casual social evening is
growing more popular with alumni each year ••••more informal than the Carnation
Ball and an event that is held in an unusual location and a menu that varies from
the usual.
If you missed the Carnation Ball and the Hamm's Party this year be sur e to
attend both events next year. Teke fellowship reigneth!

From the oldest alumnus to the youngest neophyte ••••all should
join in on the rush team so that promising prospects for
membership is Tau Kappa Epsilon are not overlooked.

Our summer rushing contacts have started and a big push is

being made to contact prospects and sell them on the merits of
Tau Kappa Epsilon. We are pushing hard to increase our
memb ership - we will need 15 to 20 men to fill the house. Big
membership is not only a trend it is imperative for good
financial operation of the house and good campus representation •
.. -.._- .- - - - - ---". --- -._. .__ . - --- ---

Through business associates, friends and high school principals

everyone of us can discover at least one prospect. Please make
it your aim to send in at least one name. A personal visit with
the ,prospect and his parents would accomplish a tremendous
amount ,Gf good.

Alumni, we need your help in rushing •••• not only names of prospects but the use
of any facilities you may have that are gOOd 'for rushing (swimming pools, boats,.,
etc.) New rushing rules forbid rushing events at commercial establishments.

Please don't overlook this appeal if Nu is to continued to thrive at Cal ••• we must
'
have your cooperation. Write Ray Rasmussen '61, TKB House, 2725 Channing Way,
Berkeley 4. A rush recommendation card is enFlosed for your convenience.
