Parking is usually available on the top floors
of the Sutter-Stockton garage if you get
there by 11 :00 and beat the throngs of
holiday shoppers. Some Fraters are using
BART and walking the short four blocks from
the station.
Once again, Fraters will have a
choice of entree. Grilled chicken with
vegetables, or pasta with scallops and
shrimp are this year's choices. Also
included is salad and dessert You are
asked to indicate your choice on the
reservation form.
FOUNDERS DAY DINNER
AND DANCE A SUCCESS
Fraters, wives, girl friends and
mistresses all enjoyed a gala evening at the
Olympic Country Club. The food was
fantastic, the music was great, the
surroundings were elegant, and the
camaraderie unsurpassed. \fJe're just sorry
that so many were unable to attend.
Again, we have Dan Costello to thank
for his impeccable arrangements.
Due to technical difficulties, pictures
of the event could not be included in this
issue, but they will be on display at the
, Christmas Luncheon.

JOHN HEANEY '50 and '51 writes,
"For a chapter in limbo, you certainly
do a mighty good job of publishing a
newslettei. I am pleased to
contribute.
" 'Go East, young man' and that is
what I did. moving to New York City
and making a career in
pharmaceutical advertising. I took
early retirement in 1991 and moved to
the San Diego area with my wife,
Kathy. No children, two cats. We
travel a lot and I am active in the
Episcopal Church. For those who
remember, I have set a record with
one automobile (Mazda MX6) lasting
me 10 years, but I miss the old MG.
What fun, even though I did get quite
upset when some Fraters carried up
the steps and put it in the living room."
John also says, "I note that most of
your (dues) honor roll comes from
Fraters of the early 1950s. This would
include myself, and I might point out
that this also included a group of
mature young men, veterans of WWII,
who acted as mentors for my young
self and gave the fraternity a certain
stability and firm purpose which we
may never see again.

LARRY "GRANGER" BREHM '68
writes, "Once again, a great Nu News"
and goes on to give us the address of
many "lost" Fraters. He has been a
great help in assisting us with our
database. Larry is an architect with
offices in Berkeley, and his home
address is 17 Diablo Circle, Lafayette,
CA 94549.
We have news of the move of DICK
SCHUETTGE '57 to the State of
Washington. Dick, as you may know,
lost his beloved Carol to cancer a
couple of years ago, and a few years
earlier their home was destroyed in
the Oakland hills fire. That so much
sadness should befall a Frater is a
source of grief to all of us who know
Dick. His address is 566 Ridgedale

We have not had news of TONY
WAYNE for a while. He graces our
"lost" list from time to time, but now
we believe we have pinned him down.

CLIFF MARKS '80 says he's still
plugging away as a dentist "Last
year was the best year ever," he says,
" and this year despite the economy,

says springtime is the best weather
there. He bought incredibly warm, but
light, silk blankets, and says, 'pespite
all our technology, the silk cocoons
are laboriously separated from the
larvae, and then tens of thousands of

into a single blanket, all by hand."
On the home front, he reports,
"Victor's soccer team (Under-10
Division, with me as the coach) won
the championship. Victor will be
playing this year again, but I'm retired
as a champion!
"Karen continues to improve at
ballet and piano, and loves to attend
sleepovers. We had 15 eight and
nine-year-old girls over for her
birthday last August. It's amazing
how little sleep they get.
