Woks Mentality

Isaiah 64:6 (King James Version)

6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

People are so influenced with “works mentality.” This is the main reason why most of us
often stumble at the simplicity of salvation. The grace of God that brought salvation to
mankind, the believe and be saved principle. What’s wrong with us is that we want to
contribute something to our salvation. We wanted to be co-worker with God. For this
reason, some religions introduce “work salvation.” We know that our salvation comes by
grace and never in our part. Good works can never earn the favor of God.
Friends, this is very important. It’s a matter of where you are going to spend eternity
with.

We must realize that whatever we do, we can never earn the favor of God. Humanity is
totally depraved. We are by nature children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3); we have a fallen
nature, a nature which is given to sin. This is the reason why the bible calls an unbeliever
an enemy of God. Our good works will never bring us to heaven, for all our righteousness
are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

The saddest reality is that people would rather have the “do” rather that the “done.” The
bible teaches that our salvation was already done. The salvation that God planned from
the beginning was performed by Jesus Christ and now the bible tells us in Hebrews 10:12
that he sat down at the right hand of God, and if we have an incomplete salvation and if
its not yet done, he (Jesus) won’t sat at God’s right hand because he is going to perform
whatever is lacking in our salvation.

Friends, God is a holy God, and this the reason why in the Old Testament he requires a
perfect and spotless lamb. And if you’ll say that your good works can save you, you are
offering God a sick lamb. Friends, we are that sick lamb, for we are all an unclean things
(Isaiah 64:6), and if you think that you are doing good, I’m sorry to tell you that Romans
3: 12 says that there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Romans 3:10 says, “There is no
one righteous, no, not one.” Now how can you offer to God your self efforts (good work)
when God says it is all filthy rags? The only thing you can do is to trust His perfect
salvation. He provided a lamb which is unblemished and perfect as a substitute for you. It
was to be you on the cross, but he cannot accept if it is you on the cross, because you are
sinners, we all are. And if you repent of your sins and believe and put your trust in Jesus
the spotless lamb and accept him as your personal Savior and Lord genuinely from your
heart, you will have eternal life.
