Requirements
It is important to note that the MarTech Systems, Inc. 2009 applications do not
require resources as indicated below.
There will be new applications released in the future that will have
hardware and software requirements that supersede the requirements
discussed in this document.
The below specifications are based upon Microsoft’s suggested requirements, and
MarTech Systems, Inc. experience in working with our client base.
Keyboard

A CD-R or CD-RW drive is highly recommended for backups
3.5-inch high-density floppy disk drive
Service pack 4 required
Highly recommend all additional Microsoft security and operating systems
patches be installed.
Windows XP Home
MarTech Systems, Inc. suggests that end users evaluate the differences
between XP Professional and XP Home. There are differences that might
limit network connectivity and growth in XP Home.

MarTech Systems, Inc. does sell and support the required hardware
and software for the application.
Most MarTech Systems, Inc. applications have options that use Microsoft
Office applications.
Networking Requirements
MarTech Systems, Inc. applications will work in a peer to peer and client server
networking environment.
This will also allow users to have access to MarTech Systems, Inc.
internet infrastructure to download software updates and other
important information.
The below issues are relevant for peer to peer and client server networks.
Users must have a mapped network drive to the share. The drive
letter designation must be consistent across all users.
Which versions of Microsoft’s new Vista operating system should be used with MarTech
Systems, Inc. current software applications?
MarTech Systems, Inc. does not recommend our customers implementing the
Starter Edition.
Windows Vista Home Basic—A world above and beyond Windows XP.

Windows Vista Home Basic is the safer and easier Windows operating system for
your basic home computing needs—from viewing photos to writing email and
browsing the Internet. Compared to Windows XP, it is easier to set up and
maintain, enables you to quickly find almost everything on your PC and the
Internet, and provides more safety and security than any previous version of
Windows. And like all editions of Windows Vista, it is compatible with the
widest range of software, devices, and services that you use and trust.
If you are a very small MarTech Systems, Inc. client with 1 PC, and you are
using Facilities Management, Schedule Book, or Fair Management in a
Workgroup network environment only, Vista Home Basic would meet your
needs. Below is the current list of Microsoft Vista features not included in
the Home Basic version.

With the above lack of features in mind, MarTech Systems, Inc., highly
recommends customers consider upgrading Microsoft Vista Home Basic to
Microsoft Vista Home Premium.
Windows Vista Home Premium is the preferred edition of Windows Vista for
home desktop and mobile PCs. You’ll see the difference with a breakthrough
design, easy-to-use search and organization tools, and a safer online experience.
The built-in Windows Media Center and new mobility features give you more
ways to enjoy your favorite digital entertainment at home or on the go. And like
all editions of Windows Vista, it is compatible with the widest range of software,
devices, and services that you use and trust.
If you are a small MarTech Systems, Inc. client with 2-4 PC’s, and you are
using a MarTech Systems, Inc. applications in a Workgroup network
environment only, Vista Home Premium would meet your needs. Below is
the current list of Microsoft Vista features not included in the Home
Premium version.

desktop and mobile PCs. This offering crosses the small business, mid-sized
business, and enterprise segments. This edition includes all the features available
in Windows Vista Home Basic (with the exception of a small number of
entertainment features), plus:

Windows Vista Enterprise is the premium edition of Windows Vista for business
desktop and mobile PCs. This offering is available only to customers who have
their PCs covered by a Microsoft Software Assurance agreement. In addition to
including all of the features available in Windows Vista Business, highlights of
this edition include:
Windows Vista Enterprise is designed for large enterprises and organizations with
complex desktop infrastructures. It helps reduce the cost and complexity of
deploying and managing PCs, improves reliability and security, and makes it
MarTech Systems, Inc. feels this operating system is beyond the scope of
most, if not all of our clients. If you feel you require this operating system,
you should direct all communications in regards to the Enterprise version to
Microsoft, or you’re IT Support Staff.

Windows Vista Ultimate is the first operating system that combines the advanced
infrastructure of a business-focused operating system, the productivity of a
mobility-focused operating system, and the digital entertainment features of a
consumer-focused operating system. For users who want their PC to be great for
working at home, on the go, and at the office, Windows Vista Ultimate is the no-
compromise operating system that provides it all.
MarTech Systems, Inc. feels this operating system is beyond the scope of
most, if not all of our clients. If you feel you require this operating system,
you should direct all communications in regards to the Enterprise version to
Microsoft, or you’re IT Support Staff.
