June 5, 2011 Seventh Sunday of Easter

Gathering: Christians gather for worship as the forgiven ones, the thankful ones, the dedicated ones.
Our worship is threefold: Confession and Pardon, Word and Witness, and Dedication to Mission.
These three parts reflect our life before God: separation, reconciliation, and dedicated service.

As we gather for worship, greet those next to you in Christian love !

ST. PAUL TELEVISION MINISTRY One of the most uplifting experiences of our TV Ministry is reading
the numerous letters we receive from TV viewers across the country. They claim St. Paul Church as their
church and share how they are being blessed with this powerful Ministry!
Our Gospel Worship is televised live at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning on
Channel 22 (Brighthouse 02). You can also join us on Direct TV (Ch. 376) or Dish Network (Ch. 267)

clothes and lap robes. Also needed is pure white fabric (lacy, frilly or plain) to make First Communion
dresses for several young girls in Haiti. We hope that you might have what we need, because what we do
have is a great group of women wanting to serve the Lord by making these much needed items.

A Note from Dr. Bert
ON RETIREMENT AND MY DREAMS
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

I retired from the pastoral ministry of the United Methodist Church last Friday in Tampa, but I’m still
“dreaming” of St. Paul and the future. Here are ten dreams when I envision the future:
No. 10 God is in history, working here, like a seeking Father. Worship of God and a teaching
ministry must be primary. I want St. Paul to be known as a “teaching church” of the
word we have experienced.
No. 9 Jesus Christ is central. We become the body of Christ through repentance. The
cross is unavoidable in our church and in our lives.
No. 8 Introducing people to the Lordship of Christ is what we are all about. When we make
a decision to settle the Lordship issue, our lives begin in Christ. Our personal mission
becomes established, our stewardship, tithing, etc.
No. 7 Discipleship to Jesus happens in small groups throughout the church. The church
assists with training events that are outstanding.
No. 6 New shared leadership empowering the laity emerges. Bringing people to Jesus be
comes natural. The collaboration is obviously the work of God in building the body of
believers.
No. 5 Openness and obedience to the Holy Spirit results from hearing the Spirit speak in
our worship services and in our lives.
No. 4 Because faith has moral fiber, members who are competent, committed, spiritual
leaders are serving in the community.
No. 3 Sensitivity to other people is noticed at every gathering. We are alleviating suffering
through mission work. Our budget surplus overflows into mission opportunities.
No. 2 The church is visionary, building for the future and transforming lives.
No. 1 PRAYER is at the heart of all we do. St. Paul is a “praying church”. Our hope comes
from our regular, disciplined prayer as we move into God’s future together!
If we are clear about our highest values, we will have little trouble seeing the path we must walk.
Our dreams and visions will “light the way”!
Grace, joy and peace!
