* Research Programming:
- Collaborated with Pittsburgh Science of Learning Center
researchers to specify, design and implement experimental
extensions to Cognitive Tutor software.
- Participated in design of next generation of Cognitive Tutor, as
well as toolkits for tutor, problem, and cognitive model
authoring, by collaborating with research and development teams.
- Architected and implemented application and database for
processing, storage and analysis of large, richly structured
datasets, and reduced running time from months to days via
analysis and optimization of algorithms and code.
- Authored cognitive models for research projects, and ported
legacy models from Lisp to Java.
- Formulated, executed and presented analytics to assess tutoring
efficacy, test scientists' hypotheses, and locate software bugs.
- Wrote and employed artificial neural networks and evolutionary
algorithms to optimize manufacturing processes for major
corporate research sponsors, significantly reducing failure rates
and waste.
* Technical Consulting
- Designed a multi-leveled, multi-homed network and software agents
to monitor and defend against malicious network activity for
world's seventh largest Internet marketing firm.
- Developed cross-platform VPN client for company's
enterprise-class wireless security appliance and supported
deployment to several large universities, Fortune 500 companies
and city governments.
- Spearheaded IT infrastructure development for startup company
that included designing and installing LANs and WANs, configuring
and administering mail, creating dynamic websites, programming
tools and utilities, and providing on-call service for general IT
issues.
- Designed tool to extract data from printed graphs and troubleshot
immunological modeling software.
- Client roster includes: Carnegie Learning, INC.; LaunchCyte, LLC;
Immunetrics, INC.; Vernier Networks, INC.; and InterWeb, LLC.
* Network Operations
- Co-founded and served as technical manager for eight person
operations department responsible for enterprise-wide network
monitoring, diagnostics and problem resolution.
- Collaborated with senior management to develop and implement
emergency response and trouble escalation policies and
procedures.
- Liaised with engineering, support and sales departments on all
technical issues.
- Trained and developed technicians on all systems, networking and
security matters.
