Pay Range $9/hr, up to $10/hr (raise based on yearly
Performance Appraisal)
Hours 12-15 hours per week; flexible
Start date SEPTEMBER 2011 (new hires must be available
in August for mandatory training; dates will be
sent upon confirmed hiring status).
Note: This position spans throughout the academic year. We are seeking students who can
make the year-long commitment (excluding academic year holidays) and beyond.
The Service Learning Coordinator (SLC) coordinates the logistics of DePaul University
service-learning students enrolled in community-based service learning courses. Most students
engage in direct service. The SLC serves as the primary contact person between the Steans
Center, service-learning students, Community Partner agencies and, occasionally,
service-learning faculty.
Assisting staff with service learning student preparation this includes confirming
mandatory orientation dates for each student service learner by week one (1).
Maintaining constant contact with each assigned service learner and community
organization by conducting a minimum of 3 community organization visits per
academic quarter.
Maintain an excel sheet that captures service learning relationships with students
and Community Partners throughout the 10 week academic quarter by
phone/email/visits.
2) Participating on various internal teams and completing team tasks by the assigned due
date (monthly) (5%)
3) Researching and advertising service and social justice opportunities locally, nationally,
internationally to service learning students, creating/ maintaining an internal asset map
of DePaul resources and disseminating the information of resource area located within
the Steans Center via emails, face book, promotion tables and workshops (5%)
4) Recruiting DePaul students to sign up for service learning courses and job/internship
opportunities, participating in the Annual Service Speaks student conference, Cesar
Chavez service activities, and other similar on campus conferences, admission fairs, etc.
at the Steans Center. (5%)
REQUIREMENTS
The position requires extensive contact with students, SLC colleagues and external community
organizations; significant field work and reporting are also required.

experience on your transcript. Commitment to working with this employer for a minimum of 1
YEAR, while enrolled at DePaul full-time is required.
