Message from the Chair
and President & CEO

JA CanadaTM is an international member of JA Worldwide® and recognized

globally as a leader in youth business and entrepreneurship education.
Around the world, Junior Achievement reaches approximately 10 million
youth in 120 countries each year. In Canada, JA is uniquely positioned
among industry leaders and educators in the public education system.

With our extensive national program reach in the classroom and

connectivity to business, Junior Achievement plays a critical role in the
creation of Canada’s future workforce by bridging the talent gap.
Through your support you enable JA to serve as a partner in economic
development and workforce readiness by connecting youth with an
innovativelearningcurriculum,deliveredbyqualifiedbusinessvolunteers,
which in turn introduce our Achievers to a wealth of workplace
experience. Together we prepare youth to further their education and
Michael Foulkes inspire them to achieve their dreams.
Chair, Board of Directors
JA CanadaTM The prosperity and competitiveness of Canada rests on our ability to
develop a competitive workforce and the future leaders who will secure
Canada’s place in a global market. Our youth are our richest resource and
their potential is waiting to be discovered. With your help, JA continues
to inspire and educate young people to succeed in a global economy.

This past year we launched the first of many new and exciting student
programs. Our newly launched ESIS: Economics for Success and Dollars
with Sense programs offer modular formats with enhanced modality,
allowing our lessons to adapt to the ever changing workplace and
curriculum requirements. Together with the JA CanadaTM Foundation
(The Canadian Business Hall of Fame) we embrace the mission of

Volunteer Screening Protocol

New protocol
creates standards
of conduct,
performance
and excellence.

JA CanadaTM has implemented a new Volunteer Screening Protocol with

the release of a “how to” manual. The development of the protocol and
procedural manual was generously supported and funded by TD Bank
Financial Group. This was a collaborative initiative with a group of
eleven local JA office representatives and experts from industry.

Beyond being strictly a preventative measure, this new protocol creates

standards of conduct, performance and excellence that make JA the
organization of choice for volunteers looking to make a meaningful
and fulfilling investment in our youth. As a leader in volunteerism, JA
ensures our youth, our brand and the organizations and individuals
involved in delivering programs are safeguarded from risk.

Recognized as an organization dedicated to

volunteerism and the development of youth.

H. E. Miskiman Leadership
Award Recipient

Carey Drader, Immediate Past Chair of the Junior Achievement of

Canada Board of Directors is pleased to announce Lynne Clark as our
2007 recipient of the H. E. Miskiman Leadership Award.

This award recognizes and honours Junior Achievement volunteers

from all sectors of our organization who advance the goals of Junior
Achievement both locally and nationally.

“Lynne Clark has played a critical role in the development of the

national Board of Directors and JA governance structures used across
the country. Lynne’s leadership in the creation of financial systems and
processes resulted in improved financial operating results and
accountabilities of the entire organization. These are only a few
examples of why Lynne deserves to be recognized with this national
Lynne Clark volunteer of the year award.” said Mr. Drader.
Senior Partner, Financial Services
Deloitte & Touche LLP During Lynne’s tenure at Junior Achievement of Canada she has
provided significant leadership in the renewal of the national
organization including mentorship, board development and complex
rebuilding in the areas of structure, governance, finance and territory
regionalization.

On a personal level, Lynne has contributed financially each year and

has facilitated targeted donations to JA through the United Way and
Deloitte. The Deloitte Inspiration Awards are a significant annual student
recognition program and Lynne has stewarded these awards for many
years, most recently with a significant financial increase in the
scholarship amounts.

Under Lynne’s stewardship, JA secured founding sponsorship for a new

national Program Evaluation & Impact Assessment System, now a critical
tool for assessing JA programs.

The dedication, personal commitment, selfless giving of her time and

resources over several decades make Lynne Clark a deserving recipient
of the H.E. Miskiman Leadership Award.

Over the past two years, with the generous support of Imperial Oil
Foundation, we’ve made a series of investments to establish a mission-
driven JA Alumni program in Canada. Two Alumni reunion events and
focus groups were held to unite senior and junior achievers in planning
sessions. More sessions are planned to gain an understanding of the
elements upon which a successful and sustainable program could be
built.

2008/09 will be a turning point in the establishment of a JA community

that engages senior and junior Achievers with a focus on social ventures
and entrepreneurship as extensions of JA programs.

The development of an active and sustainable network will serve

JA both locally and nationally, in programs, participation and in the
community. This program will be further developed this year with
Imperial Oil Foundation continued investment in life-stage research,
campaign and program modeling.
