Professional Accomplishments
Process Improvement and Cost Reduction
Implemented simple communication change (with users) that resulted in the elimin
ation of more than $500,000 in printed reports annually.
Automated many manual processes. For example, report parameters were manually e
ntered for acquired banks being converted to corporate software systems. This p
rocess was reduced from approximately 80 hours to less than one hour by standard
izing job and report names and writing batch programs to model and update the da
tabase.
Changed reduction ratio on microfiche. This resulted in annual savings in exces
s of $200,000.
Developed on-line system to print customer confirmations. This replaced a labor
-intensive system of manually selecting lines of job control to select correct i
nputs and outputs. It was prone to error, required a high level of skill, and w
as frustrating for the user. The new system was executed by the administrative
staff and only required entering answers to a few simple questions such as date,
application and banking entity.
Developed programs using various report-writer software to provide management re
ports for tracking costs.
Project Management
Managed the outsourcing contract between CompanyX and outsourcing partner. This
contract provided all system support for the mainframe operating system.
Researched and documented year 2000 upgrade requirements for all operating syste
m components and equipment for the mainframe operating system. This involved d
eveloping an accurate inventory of all system software and equipment, working wi
th software and equipment vendors to determine compliance fixes, planning the te
sting and implementation of all required changes, communicating with users to en
sure that all regulatory testing requirements were completed and all errors reso
lved, and documenting the process for regulatory purposes and the Y2K Office. T
he result was a very smooth transition to the year 2000.
Internal Audit
Managed financial audits for bank branches and departments and prepared audit re
ports for Directors. This included updating audit program to reflect changing re
gulatory requirements and new business methods and technology. Worked with exte
rnal auditors to ensure appropriate requirements were met.
Managed application and operational audits for computer centers and prepared aud
it reports for Directors. This included updating audit program to include new a
nd changing technology and making recommendations for policy and standards impro
vements.
Developed software for reporting application exceptions, recalculating various i
tems such as interest charges and fees, and printing customer confirmations.
Updated departmental standards manual and audit program as needed.
Technical
Database Administrator performing administration services for multiple business
units using Microsoft SQL Server technology (6.5, 7.0, 2000, 2005). This inclu
ded enforcing security, ensuring backup and recovery protocols, troubleshooting
