Mixed practice providing service to mainly canine, feline, bovine,
and equine patients; 6 support staff members and 4 veterinarians
operating out of 1 location; gross revenue approximates $1.4 million
annually.
Staff Veterinarian
Function in simultaneous client management and hands-on
diagnostic/clinic services role; promote expertise, products, and
professional services whiles also balancing profit margin
expectations and client financial standing through estimates,
cost/benefit assessments, and short/long-term goals.
Diagnose and respond to patient conditions (in both clinic and
throughout local area providing farm services), perform surgical
services (including surgery preps, anesthetic protocol design and
drug selection), delegate responsibilities and ensure performance of
2-4 support staff during surgical preparation, induction, anesthetic
monitoring, and post surgical care.
* Launched and currently spearheading initiatives including:
- Process reworking vaccination protocols for canine and feline
patients while leveraging suppliers for improved pricing and
technical support in designing new program.
- Research of new therapeutic products meeting client/patient needs.
- Use of long acting antibiotics to increase client compliance and
help clients unable to medicate patients daily (currently using
product generating premium margin for clinic).
- Creation of drug formulary aiding segment of client base with
proper treatment as well as avoiding regulatory compliance penalties.
* Enhanced overall productivity through modification of office
protocols as well as development of physical exam form and templates
in electronic files database (Intravet); simultaneously enables
quicker data entry and ensures completion of medical records
(solidifying medical and legal presence).
* Maximize full range of support staff skills, solidify team-based
approach to services and save doctors time through training of
individual staff on areas of veterinary interest; e.g. encourage and
train staff members on interpreting cytology slides as well as taking
patient histories and thoroughly identifying key elements.
* Thoroughly resolve patient issue via strong interpersonal,
communications and diplomatic skills; includes strategically removing
client from patient care regimen to ensure progression, quality and
results of overall care provided.
* Effectively diagnose patients through blood counts, blood smears,
biochemical profiles, ELISA, culture and sensitivity, diagnostic
imaging (radiographs and ultrasonography), urine analysis,
cytological evaluation of bodily fluids and tissue masses, and
interpretation of histopathological reports.
* Train clients on methods administering medications/treatments and
evaluating results.
* Utilize creativity to efficiently deliver after-hours emergency
services; perform with lack of resources and consistently locate
solid solutions.
