Art teachers
exhibition
to June 18
Six Washington Township Art
teachers are taking advantage of
a special opportunity provided by
the Rowan University High
School Art Gallery.
The WTPS professionals will
be hosting an exhibition running
to June 18, at the gallery located
at 11 High Street, Glassboro.
Rowan grad and Washington
Township High School teacher
Pattie Cushane received an email
inviting anyone from the commu-
nity interested in showing their
artwork to fill out forms and sub-
mit a curatorial statement.
From there, Cushane said she
thought it would be a good idea to
ask some colleagues if they want-
ed to do a group show, and they
agreed.
The exhibiting artists will in-
clude: Dan Jedwabny, Lauren
DeLisi, Christie Serra, Sharon
Stewart, Lauren Jackson and
Cushane.
Cushane’s curatorial statement
is as follows:
We, the members of the faculty
of Washington Township School
District, have several goals for
our summer 2011 exhibition at
the High Street Gallery.
First, we hope to set an exam-
ple of professionalism in the field
of the Arts to the students whom
we teach.
Secondly, we would like to
showcase our talents and contin-
uing efforts of self-improvement
in our chosen crafts.
In doing so, we would like to
foster an awareness of the value
of the arts in our local communi-
ty to the public at large. As such,
we will exhibit a wide variety of
works in multiple media to show-
case our diversity as a group.
Lastly, we dedicate the exhibi-
tion to the students whom we
teach.
We seek to inspire them, not
only in the confines of the class-
room, but as examples of working
artists in the community, as well.
The WTPS Art Teacher Exhibi-
tion will include works ranging
from drawings and paintings, to
ceramic sculpture, jewelry and
more.

Township teams involved stay all weekend to volunteer their time to make this event successful. Teams
come as far as New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania every year with the hope of winning. This is the

doubleheaders to make it to the championship. 12O team Diciano was leading the game 3-1 until the top
