order to have the old lead weighed and when weighed Old lead,

I Your committee then took into consideration the
petition of Benjamin Daniel, formerly one of the over- Daniel.
seers of the pipe water works and your committee
having maturely examined into the contents thereof
find that the said Benjamin Daniel being old and in-
firm was unable to pay that attention to the duty of his
office which it required, and that in consequence of
some of your committee applying to him, he resigned = ~ B .
his employment in hopes that some provision would be
made for him, your committee therefore beg leave to
recommend that the said Benjamin Daniel shall be
allowed 20, per annum, the same to be commenced AllDuit7'
from the 19th day of January, 1776, being the day of
his resignation, the same to be in full of any claim
or demand whatsover which he has against the city for
repairs of his house in the pipe water yard.
I Your committee observe that a large sum of money
will be forthwith wanted to carry on the pipe water
works and have rpsolved to borrow a sum of 2,000, r-n.
at an interest of five per cent., to enable them to pro-
ceed on the works with as much expedition as possible
and to give such security for the same as the said act 8eourlt;r.
