Take Heed to Your Spirit

In the closing book of the Old Testament, Malachi admonishes us to take heed to your spirit (Malachi 2:15-16). The minor prophet Malachi was urging Gods people to take heed to their spirits in relation to their deeds affecting and disturbing the family unit. The Scriptural truth is definite our spirits do affect aspects of our lives. The word, spirit, refers to our personal prevailing attitudes. The prevailing attitude of the Christian mu st be on e of H O PE , th e anticipation of good in the near future. The news media is destroying hope in our society, influencing the public to live in a state of unrelenting panic over economic, social, and spiritual mattersboth personal and national. Everything might seem hopeless, but the Christian must not live as if there is no hope. He must live with the knowledge that good does happen, is happening, and will continue to happen for Gods people. The prevailing attitude of the Christian must also be one of HAPPINESS. The word, happiness, is synonymous with a number of different words in our language, but one of the words closely associated with true happiness are rejoicing and joy. Happiness is often prompted by the external while joy is internalit comes from within. Gods people must be happy campers. External conditions do not dictate our joy; we may find joy unspeakable and full of glory in our Lord Jesus Christ (I Peter 1:8). In addition to hope and happiness, the prevailing attitude of the Christian must be HEAVENWARD. In Philippians 3:20, we read: For our conversation is in heaven Possessing HUMILITY is also a way to guard your spirit. A contrite and humble spirit honors the Lord. When a person walks humbly before God, he will possess a positive spirit. The Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 2:8: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy. Oh, how we endeavor to guard our spirits from being captured by the false ideas of mankind after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Out of respect for your loved ones and those in attendance, we ask parents to use our clean & well-equipped nursery. Please avail us the opportunity to serve! This free service is available for newborns and infants (birth through 24 months). All of our volunteers have passed a background check with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Our church family is invited to the New Testament Baptist Church 4th of July Picnic. There is no charge for this activity, but each family is asked to bring a side dish and dessert to share with others. A singing group from Golden State Baptist College will be singing for us.

In the spirit of worship and as an act of courtesy, please do NOT bring food, soft drinks or bottled water into the Auditorium. Cellular devices should be turned off or placed in vibrate mode.

Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.

We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23). We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9). Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour (Romans 5:8; John 3:16). Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as Gods children (Romans 10:9, 13).
