Some years ago, when I was a kid, we use to play a game called Hiding Go Seek. In this game, there was a base, an individual who protected the base, and this individual also searched for the other players who would find a secure hiding place. The player who protected the base would start off by saying, last night, night before, twenty four robbers at my door, I got up and let them in, hit them in the head with a rolling pen. All aint hid say Billy goat. If no one said anything, the base protector would say Ready or Not, Here I Come. This particular phrase came to mind as I thought on the return of Jesus. The Bible clearly reveals that Jesus is coming again and no man knows the day nor the hour, and when He returns, Hes coming like and thief in the night. Those who are not ready for His return will not prevent his coming and will be caught off guard. The scriptures speak of signs of His return and Jesus Himself left the disciples one on the day of His resurrection..the sign of the folded napkin. The folded napkin had to do with the master and servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers and mouth with that napkin and toss it on the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, Im done. But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant knew that the folded napkin meant, Im coming back. (John 20:6-7) Are you ready? Are those whom you cherish and love dearly ready? Please get ready if youre not because Ready or Not, Here He Comes.
