What is LIDAR
LIDAR
(Light Detection And Ranging) is an optical
remote sensing technology that measures properties of scattered light to find range and/or other information of a distant target. Application of LIDAR system are diffused in different technology: topography, remote sensing, atmospheric physics, etc
CNR2 labs in Napoli, Italy, can boast a powerful tradition in LIDAR methodologies research and application
During the last 20 years, the joined groups realized different LIDAR instruments for research purposes. Success in related research topics is confirmed by different publications, financed research projects, measurements campaigns in collaboration with atmospheric research institution all over the word. Dr. Wang Xuan and prof.N.Spinelli collaborate on this field since 1990

LIDAR BF - patent
Dr Wang Xuan and prof.N.Spinelli recently
patented a new LIDAR technology for dust as well as small particles (< PM0.1) monitoring in a large area with unrivaled features in terms of time resolution and spatial distribution This new (no other similar product can be actually found) LIDAR system can be applied in different situation. In particular
Particle pollution monitoring in industrial areas Dust and PM assessment in urban areas

large areas monitoring in real time
to single point monitoring system) eye-safe (other LIDAR system are usually non eye-safe and cannot be used in a open environment without a strict control) night and day operations no high power laser systems needed (i.e. minor costs, smaller size, easier operations)

concern of local and national institutions mainly to preserve citizens quality of life and health.
Different factors can boost the market for LIDAR BF

double-digit growth worldwide Over the next five years more countries will turn to mass monitoring to replace the present opacity systems. Opacity monitors have long served to provide rough indications of particulate emissions. But with the tight limits now place on emitters, particle monitors provide the only solution for accurate measurement.
