This morning, Monday 11/15/04, Mars and Uranus formed a Trine (120 aspect)at 7: 59am NY time.

Pesavento, in his Astro Cycles book page 112, has this to say abo ut Mar-Uranus Aspects: "The planet Mars and the planet Uranus have a synodic period of 1.9 years. It t akes that long for the two plantets to start at conjunction (0 degrees) and comp lete one cycle. In sidereal time in terms of tropical years, Mars revolves arou nd the Sun in 1.8 years and Uranus 84 years. As Mars is moving much faster, thi s cycle would be classified as an intermediate term trading cycle. Once you stu dy the aspects of Mars-Uranus at conjunction (0), sextile (60), square (90), tri ne (120) and opposition (180) and place these times on the Swiss Franc, Deutche Mark, Japanese Yen and S&P 500 you will see the accuracy of this combination. T rend changes at Mars-Uranus aspects are quite sudden and usually last several we eks. This should not be surprising to the student of astrology because Uranus i s "the financial" planet and Mars is the planet for "energy, activity, and stren gth." "W.D. Gann left a very sparse legacy in his writings and teaching on the subject of astrology. Only a few brief hand written sentences were found. One of thes e sentences referred to Mars as the Key to timing. In addition, his last publis hed work "The Magic Word" was also a book filled with the summation of his philo sophical ideas. At that time in his life, Gann had studied Pythagorean Mathemat ics, the Kabala and the Bible quite extensively. It is my opinion that this is why he menitioned Mars on his charts, because he thought it to be the Biblical p lanet. "The relationships of the aspects is the same for Mars-Uranus as it is for the o thers -- conjunctions, sextiles, and trines are positive and squares and opposit ions are negative. One must constantly keep in mind that although these aspects are associated with positive or negative bias, they can reverse their roles. I t is at this time that the trader should be prepared to act the opposite of the norm. For example, conjunctions are usually positive, but if the currencies are dropping into a low as the conjunction is forming between Mars-Uranus, one shou ld look for a buying opportunity. "The timing effect of the Mar-Uranus aspect most often occurs within a two to th ree day period. There have been occurences where the aspects take seven days to trigger a trend change. "James Mars Langham in Cyclical Market Forecasting of Stocks and Grains referre d to the Mars-Uranus aspect "as the little wheel (Mars) within the big wheel (Ur anus)." Langham thought that this was a " significant combination" and the stat istics substantiate this fact. Mars-Uranus is an excellent market forecaster a pporximately 80% of the time. A close examination of the currency charts in thi s book will give credibility to the accuracy of the Mars-Uranus aspect as a timi ng mechnaism. "

My comments: 1) It's interesting that James Langham's middle name is "Mars" ! 2) Regarding Pesavento's comment in 3rd paragraph of quote above : "For example , conjunctions are usually positive, but if the currencies are dropping into a l ow as the conjunction is forming between Mars-Uranus, one should look for a buyi ng opportunity." ... It doesn't seem that this "for example" statement illustra tes what he was saying in the prior sentence, but it at least does illustrate th e point that a conjunction would be a positive for the market. It would have m ade more sense, to me, if his "for example" statement had illustrated the case w

here as a result of the conjuction the market became bearish. 3) Notice that for the current 120 aspect between Mars and Uranus, as a trine i t would typically be a positive sign for the market, however Urnaus happens to be Retrograde at this time, and this might negatively affect the influence that the trine has on the market. Additionally, Uranus has recently gone Direct (Thu rdday the 11th at 2:12pm), and this may have accentuation effect on this Mars-U ranus Aspect. -- John
