AlFatiha and its names:


1. AlFatiha opening of AlQuran and Salaah. 2. Umm AlKitaab Mother of the Book. 3. AlHamd The Praise Allaahs response to its 1st ayah.

4. ASSalah The Prayer No Fatiha No Salah. 5. Ashshifaa The Cure 6. Arruqya The Remedy Hadith of Abu Said AlKhudri. 7. Seven mathani most repeated verses Hadith of Abu Hurairah, Ibn Abbas, Qataadah and Abu Alaliyah. 8. Revealed in Makkah. Note: It has 7 aayaat (no disagreement) and Basmalah is a separate ayah (majority).

Why Umm AlKitaab?


1. AlBukhari AlQuran and ASSalah starts with it. 2. It contains the meanings of entire Quran.

3. Ibn Jarir Arabs call every comprehensive matter that contains several specific areas as Umm. 4. Some other umms: a. Umm arras skin covering the brain b. Umm flag raised to gather the ranks of an army. c. Umm AlQura Makkah earth starts from Makkah.

Virtues of AlFatiha:
Total 5 ahadith: 1. Hadith of Abu Saeed ibn Mualla Greatest soorah in AlQuran, seven most repeated verses. 2. Hadith of Abu Hurairah (abt Ubayy ibn Kab) Likeness of which is not revealed in Zaboor, Taurah, Injeel, AlFurqaan, divided into 2 parts between Allah and His servant

3. Hadith of Abdullah ibn Jabir (3 salaams). These 3 are of same nature, kinda same story. 4. Hadith of Abu Saeed AlKhudri (AlBukhari Chapter: Virtues of AlQuran) ruqya 30 sheeps and milk Prophets share. 5. Hadith of Jibreel door of heaven opens - 2 lights: AlFatiha and last 3 ayaat of AlBaqarah.

AlFatiha and Salaah:


2 hadiths both narrated by Abu Hurairah. 1. No Fatiha No Salaah. 2. Allaahs respond to AlFatiha (Hadith Qudsi 8) : Behind the imaam recite silently. Divided into 2 parts between Me and My servant: Ayah 1 praise Ayah 2 glory

Ayah 3 glory / related all matters to Me Ayah 4 between Me and My servant, he acquires what he sought Ayah 5-7 for my servant, he acquires what he asked for. Note: a. Recite in midtone b. AlFatiha greatest pillar of Salah c. Recitations in early dawn is witnessed Fajr salah attended by angels. d. Recite AlFatiha in every rakah consensus of scholars.

Tafseer of alistiaadha:

1. AlMumineen 23:96-98

2. AlFussilaat 41:34-36

Note: 1. We are ordered to seek refuge in Allah. 2. Repel evil with good deeds. 3. Be patient and dont be lenient towards Shaitan. 4. Shaitan wants his followers to Jahannam because of his enmity towards our father Adam, naoodubillaah.

Alistiaadha before Reciting AlQuran, in Salaah, Anger:

Alistiaadha Required or Recommended? (in salaah & before AlQuran)


1. Majority of scholars recommended 2. Ar-Razi from the hadith of Ata bin Abi Rabia - required Proofs:

a. Apparent meaning of b. Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) always said istiaadha. c. Wards of evil and we are in need of it. d. Rule: means needed to implement a requirement of the religion is itself also required.

Virtues of Alistiaadha:
1. Cleanses mouth from evil speech. 2. Prepares to recite the speech of Allah. 3. Seeking Allahs help and affirming He can do anything. 4. Admitting our weakness and inability to face our own inner evil, whom Allah has created and only He can defeat it. 5. Shaitan does not accept kindness unlike human enemies. 6. Believers defeated by disbelievers are martyrs but if defeated by Shaitan, gets sins. (naoodubillah)

7. We cannot see Shaitaan and Shaitaan cannot see Allah. So seek refuge in whom Shaitaan cannot see! 8. Means of drawing closer to Allah.

Why is Devil Shaitaan?


1. far away. Reason: Shaitan has different nature from man kind, does many sins and is far away from righteouness. 2. burnt Reason: Shaitan is created from fire. 3. Though both meanings are correct, 1st one is plausible. 4. Siybawayh to one who commits acts of devils and not . 5. Shaitaan from Jinn and mankind (rebellious/mischievious). 6. Hadith of Abu Dharr:

a. Devils from human. b. Woman, donkey, black dog pass in front interrupt salah - if no sutrah. c. Black dog devil 7. Hadith of Umar bin AlKhattaab riding on berthawn animal arrogant feels strange in heart - disamount.

Meaning of ArRajeem:
1. 2 meanings: a. expelled from all types of righteousness. b. one who throws or bombards things (evil thoughts into peoples heart) 1st meaning is more plausible. 2. Few Quranic aayaat: eg: AlMulk 67:5


3. Stars: a. adornment for lowest heaven b. guards against Shayaateen.

4. Shaitan who snatches away the hearing is punished by a flaming fire (meteorites).

Issues with Basmalah:


1. Agreement: Basmalah is a part of ayah in Soorah AnNaml 27:98 2. Disagreement: a. Separate ayah before every soorah? b. an ayah or part of an ayah? 3. Basmalah is an ayah of every soorah except AlBaraaah 9. Opinion of: Sahabas Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, Ali, Abu Hurairah, Ibn Azzubair. Tabieen Az-Zuhri etc. Scholars Abdullah ibn AlMubarak, ShafiI, one opinion of Ahmad ibn Hanbal etc. 4. Basmalah is not an ayah of every soorah - Malik, Abu Hanifa and their followers.

5. Dawood and another opinion of Ahmad ibn Hanbal - it is a separate ayah before every soorah not an ayah within itself.

Basmalah before any deed:


1. Before starting khutbah. 2. Before entering toilet. 3. Before making ablution hadith of Abu Hurairah No Basmalah No Wudhu, No Wudhu No Salah. 4. Before eating hadith of Umar ibn Abi Salamah. a. eat with right hand. b. eat from what is next to you. Some say it is obligatory. 5. Before sexual intercourse Hadith of ibn Abbas. 'In the Name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and also protect what you grant us (meaning the coming offspring) from Satan,' Shaitan can never harm the child.

The Name Allaah:


1. Allah is the name of the Lord, the Exalted. 2. Greatest name of Allah. 3. Allah has referred many Names as attributes to His name Allah. 4. Allah has the Most beautiful names. 5. Hadith of Abu Hurairah 99 names counts and preserves enters Paradise. 6. Two narrations of 99 names with several differences.

ArRahmaan (The Most Gracious) and ArRaheem (The Most Merciful):


1. Both derived from rahma (mercy).

2. Rahmaan has more meanings pertain to mercy than Raheem consensus (Ibn Jarir). 3. Hadith of Abdur Rahmaan ibn Awf: Allah the Exalted said, 'I Am Ar-Rahman. I created the Raham (womb, i.e. family relations) and derived a name for it from My Name 4. Importance of maintaining uterine relations. 5. Arabs denied the name ArRahmaan due to their ignorance. 6. AlQurtubi both same meaning like Nadmaan and Nadeem. 7. Ibn Abbas 2 soft names 1 is softer than the other. 8. a. ArRahmaan encompasses every type of mercy. Proof: [25:59) [) ArRahmaan connected to istawaa above all creations. b. ArRaheem pertaining only to the believers.

Superiority of ArRahmaan:
1. Allah first described His name with ArRahmaan. 2. ArRahmaan belongs only to Allah. 3. Musaylima THE LIAR, called himself Rahman of Yemen Allah exposed him as LIAR. 4. Other names only for Allah: Allah ArRahmaan AlKhaaliq ( The Creator) ArRaaziq (The Sustainer) and so forth

5. Allah described His creatures using some of His other names: Muhammad (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) Raheem Man Samee wa Baseer Leader Malik etc. 6. Tasmiyah most honourable names first.

7. Narration by Umm Salamah Prophet slow n clear letter by letter - in reciting tasmiyah. 8. Some scholars connect tasmiyah to alhamd.

AlHamd The Praise:


1. Definition by Abu Jafar ibn Jarir: a. All Thanks and Praise is only to Allah alone, not to any of His creations. b. Allah alone knows the bounties and favors He has given to His creations including:

Creating tools that help creations worship Him. Physical bodies to implement His commands. Sustenance He provides. Comfortable life. Warnings and alerts about the means and methods to

earn the eternal dwelling of everlasting happiness. c. He did everything without anyone compelling Him to do so. d. Alhamdulillah Allah praised Himself indicating His creations should praise Him Like Allah said, Say! All Praise and thanks is to Allah. e. It entails praising Allah with His Most beautiful names and Most honorable attributes. f. When a servant says this thanked Allah for all His bounties and favors. 2. Difference between Praise and Thanks: Hamd more general praise for characteristics and what He has done thanks for what was done not for characteristics. 3. Dialogue between Umar and Ali Allah likes Alhamdulillah pleased with it likes to be repeated. 4. Ibn Abbas statement of appreciation Allah responds to alhamdulillaah My Servant has praised Me.

Virtues of AlHamd:
1. Hadith of AlAswad bin Sari: 2. Hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah: best dhikr , best supplication 3. Hadith of Anas ibn Malik: No servant is blessed by Allah and says,`Al-Hamdu Lillah', except that what he was given is better than that which he has himself acquired. 4. Hadith of ibn Umar: A man said, `O Allah! Yours is the Hamd that is suitable for the grace of Your Face and the greatness of Your Supreme Authority.' 2 angels confused `Write it as My servant has said it, until he meets Me and then I shall reward him for it. 5. Al with hamd - encompasses all types of Praise and thanks. 6. A Hadith:

O Allah! All of Al-Hamd is due to You, You own all the ownership, all types of good are in Your Hand and all affairs belong to You

ArRabb The Lord:


1. Owner full authority over his property. 2. Linguistic Master full authority to lead. 3. Rabb only for Allah Rabb addar for others. 4. Greatest name of Allah. (So 1st greatest name is Allah or ArRabb?)

Alaalameen:
1. aalameen plural of alam which is in itself plural no singular form.

2. AlFarra and Abu Ubayd: alam mind jinns, humans, angels, devils but not animals. 3. Zayd ibn Aslam and Abu Muhaysin: alam soul 4. Qatadah: Every type of Creation. 5. AzZajjaaj: Every type of creation in this world and hereafter. (said correct by Qurtubi) 6. Conversation between Firown and Moosa (alaihi salaam): Lord of alaalameen Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. 7. alam alamah sign testifying the existence of its Creator and His Oneness. 8. ArRabb in ayah 1 warning; ArRahmaan ArRaheem in ayah 2 encouragement. 9. Sahih Muslim Hadith: If the believer knew what punishment Allah has, none would have hope in acquiring His Paradise, and if the disbeliever knew what mercy Allah has, none will lose hope of earning His earning

:
1. Sovereignty over all that exists. 2. Specially sovereignty of the Day of Resurrection no one has ownership to anything except Him. 3. No one speaks on that Day except with His permission: eg: Annaba 78:38


4. Hadith of ibn Abbas: "Allah says, `On that Day, no one owns anything that they used to own in the world.''

AlMaalik:
1. Allah is Maalik owner of everything and everyone. 2. AlHashr 59:23


3. Hadith of Abu Hurairah: The most despicable name to Allah is a person who calls himself the king of kings, while there are no owners except Allah. 4. Hadith in sahihayns: <<(On the Day of Judgement) Allah will grasp the earth and fold up the heavens with His Right Hand and proclaim, 'I Am the King! Where are the kings of the earth Where are the tyrants Where are the arrogant'>> 5. Calling someone king in this world figure of speech.

Yawm addeen:
Ibn Abbas says: 1. It is the Day of Recompense for all the creations (ie) Day of Judgement.

2. Allah reckons the creations for their deeds good for good bad for bad except for those He pardons.

Addeen:
1. addeen - reckoning / reward / punishment. 2. Statement of Umar (radhi allaahu anhu): "Hold yourself accountable before you are held accountable, weigh yourselves before you are weighed, and be prepared for the biggest gathering before He Whose knowledge encompasses your deeds

Abd:
1. Allah called His Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) abd during the most honorable missions:

a. Mentioning sending down Book to him. b. During Prophets involvement in calling to Him. c. During Isra.

Praise first!
1. Allah encouraged Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) to praise Allah during the times of distress. 2. Praising Allah whose help is sought should be followed by ones need. (Best method of seeking help) 3. Most appropriate and effective in bringing a positive reply Allah recommended this method. 4. Convey the condition of the person asking dua dua of Moses (alaihi salaam):

Allah has showed both right and the wrong path.

aSSiRaat almustaqeem (The Straight Path):


a. Abu Jafar attabaris definition:

1. aSSiraat straight path with no branches language of Arabs. 2. Jarir poem Leader of faithful in straight path all other paths crooked. 3. aSSiraat reference to every deed/statement - righteous/wicked. 4. Arabs: righteous people straight path; wicked people crooked path. 5. In AlQuran: straight path Islam. b. Hadith of Annawwas bin Saman: 1. Straight path (Islam) surrounded by two walls (Allahs set limits). 2. Doors within walls covered by curtains (Allahs prohibitions) 3. Caller on gate of Siraat (AlQuraan). 4. Caller from above the path warning every person (Allahs admonishment from hearts of every Muslim). c. Believers should keep on asking guidance day and night.

d. To make firm on the path of guidance and donot deviate from it. e. Believer cannot benefit or harm himself except by Allahs permission. f. Allah ordered to believe sought is firmness and continuity in performing deeds to keep us in the straight path.

1. Guide us to path of:

People of guidance Sincere Obey the commands of Allah and His Messenger

Refrain from commiting what Allah has prohibited. Have the knowledge of truth

2. Avoid us to the path of: X Whom Allah is angry with X Intentions are corrupt X Know the truth yet deviate from it X Led astray X Lost the true knowledge wanderings in misguidance unable to find the correct path. 3. Two paths because negation is repeated.

Jews Vs Christians: Jews Christians


1 Abandoned Lost true knowledge. practicing religion. 2 Anger Led astray is more descended upon appropriate them.

3 Know but avoid implementing the truth deserves anger.

Want to seek knowledge but unable to find it, since did not seek it from proper resources. So led astray

Hadith of Adi ibn Hatim: Paternal aunt, He (Muhammad ) has done a favor that your father (who was a generous man) would never have done. Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam), Those who have earned the anger are the Jews and those who are led astray are the Christians.

Summary of AlFatiha:
1. Contains 7 aayaat: Praising and thanking Allah, glorifying Him, praising Him with His Most beautiful names and Most honorable attributes.

2. Talks about Day of Resurrection and direct us to ask Him, invoke and declare that all power and strength comes only from Allah. 3. Calls for the sincerity in worship and singling Him out in His divinity perfection free from need of partners or rivals. 4. Guidance to the straight path Islam. Remain in it in this life. Pass over actual Siraat (bridge) in the Herafter. 5. Hereafter directed to gardens of comfort and companionship of anbiyaa, siddeeq, shuhadaa, saalih. 6. Encourages performing good deeds to be in their companionship Hereafter. 7. Warns against path of misguidance to avoid indulging in sins including those who earned anger (Jews) and those who are led astray (Christians). Note: 1. Both guidance and misguidance comes from Allah. 2. Contrary to the belief of Qadriyyah sect people create their own path.

3. People of lust, desire and wickedness. Choose the unclear ayat leaving the clear. Wanted to cause fitnah.

Aameen:
1. Aameen means O Allah! Answer our invocation majority. Another meaning O Allah! Do not disappoint us. 2. After AlFatiha: Not praying recommended Praying (behind imam or not) strongly recommended. 3. Hadith of Abu Hurairah, Ali, Ibn Masood, Wail ibn Hujr: Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wa sallam) used to say Aameen after waladhdhaaleeen people in 1st row hear it masjid shake because of people saying aameen. 4. Request of Bilal: Dont finish aameen until I join you. 5. If you say Aameen Allah will answer your invocation.

6. Previous sins forgiven if: Our aameen and angels aameen are in unison with equal sincerity. 7. AlHasan and Jafar As-Sadiq stressing m of aameen. 8. Hadith of Aisha (radhi allaahu anha) Jews envy: a. Friday b. Qibla c. Salaam d. Aameen
