26, 2007 Dear Editor, As a pastor and Springboro resident, I feel morally obligated to speak out about Mayor John Agenbroads opponent, who has made promises about tax issues he knows he cannot keep without bankrupting Springboro. He is avowing changes regarding what kind of businesses he would allow to come here with no regard to how it would negatively affect business owners, lower property values, increase crime and traffic safety issues, blight our community and hinder needed city revenues. My question to him is, were you not paying attention during the many community and City Council meetings when all these matters you criticize were exhaustively discussed and voted upon, or were you not at the meetings at all because youre a fairly new resident with little understanding of Springboros history, successes and exciting future? If you do understand these things, then please explain your negativism about where you live, because I dont get it. Mayor Agenbroads opponent has no noted record or credentials that qualify him to lead this city. Our current Mayor is outstanding when it comes to pulling together a cooperative team to get a job done. I visited the website of the Mayors opponent, and it made me nauseous. As a proud Republican, Ive worked hard in campaigns for our current President, Congressman Mike Turner, State Representative Shannon Jones, and others. The Mayors opponent 1

has done nothing for the Warren County Republican Party until deciding to run for this office and suddenly pretending to be a Republican Party player. The Mayors opponent doesnt have one elected Republican official endorsing him who lives in Springboro. Mayor Agenbroad has had approximately 300 campaign signs stolen from peoples property, with his opponent not saying one word to stop these repeated crimes. This guy is not my kind of Republican, not even close. He is divisive, lacks professional abilities, understanding of city management, vision, foresight, passion and the moral fortitude to lead and protect the values of Springboro citizens. We see Mayor Agenbroads values every day. He never plays party politics with Springboro, is for ALL Springboro citizens whether Democrat, Republican or Independent a truly non-partisan Mayor, involved in the church community, Memorial Day, weddings, ribbon cuttings, food pantry, meals on wheels, veteran issues, senior citizen issues, neighboring community partnerships and much more. Our Mayor also is a decorated Marine hero from the Vietnam War, awarded three Purple Hearts for bravery and wounds, coming home to Springboro from Vietnam in a full body cast as a young man. He knows about sacrifice and commitment, as theyve been a way of life for him. What has the Mayors opponent done or been involved in? Not much. If you want to keep Springboro the great place it is, dont vote for the want-to-be mayor. We already have a great Mayor. Why settle for anything less?
