2. Effective Gender Mainstreaming (EGM)


GEWE substantially integrated but not explicit outcome Directly supports EGWE

3. Some Gender Benefits (SGB)


Gender partially integrated and does not meet EGM criteria Indirectly supports GEWE Gender addressed in mitigation

4. No Gender Elements (NGE)

Project Gender Categorization System


4 main points
Every project is reviewed to assess level of gender integration Initial categorization done by project departments
Reviewed and endorsed by gender team in the centre.

Categories 1 (GEN; 2 (EGM) ; 3 (SGB) all address and integrate gender issues but only 1+2 count as GM. Defined criteria for gender mainstreaming.
