Steve and Lorry Roukie have been married for 23 years and have three children, Sarha -22, Bryan 20, and Elizabeth 14. The Roukie family moved to Rolla from the Seattle area in 2006 to assist Lorrys father with caring for her grandmother. Not having much family around, they went in search for a church that would feel like home. Instantly, First Assembly was the perfect match. Everyone was welcoming and the Roukies couldnt help but fall in love with it. Steve is a supervisor at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center with the Department of Public Safety and a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Rolla. It's a busy July for childrens ministry here at First Assembly! First, we have VBS July 11th-15th from 9am-noon. The age limits are 4 years to 5th grade. We can always use help, so if you are interested and haven't signed up yet, contact Pastor Brian at the church office. The following week we have Kids Camp, which is July 18th-22nd. The camp is ready and waiting for another great summer of fun, friendships and seeking God. We need all kids attending camp to be at church Sunday, July 17th for the second service (10:45am) as we have lice checks we need to do before we can go to camp. Youth camp was great this year! We took 28 students and 9 leaders to Southern Missouri District Youth Camp on Lake of the Ozarks. God touched the hearts of everyone involved and Matthew Schmid received the baptism in the Holy Spirit and Kaitlyn Feller received confirmation of her call to missions. Every student testified about the great things that the Lord did in their lives and we are excited to live out what Jesus has blessed us with during our time there! -Dalton Avery

inside. I told the children that I would get them cleaner bottles. I opened the van and asked the two teens that were inside to please hand me as many bottles as they could. We were able to give these children bottles filled with clean drinking water. I could see the gratitude in their eyes. The children kept coming with their bottles pleading for water. One little boy told me that he wasnt going to drink the water, but that he was going to take it home to his mother who was very ill. This broke my heart. What a loving and caring attitude I saw in this boy for his mother. I could only imagine what their only water source must look like, what it must taste like. Our hearts were broken as we saw the need in this impoverished village. We made a decision as a team that our lunches would be divided up and given to these children so that they could have something to eat. Some of these children hadnt eaten in days; we were informed by the nationals. Our journey started out that morning with meeting the nationals that were going to lead us to the children and the people who live in the dump. This was an area where many people dared not go. These were the forgotten ones, the unloved ones. On our way there we saw the homes made out of pieces of wood and what looked like black plastic trash bags. These homes were no bigger than a tool shed that someone in the USA would have in the back yard. We arrived at our destination, a school for the children who lived in these terrible conditions. The children came running out of the school to see us. We got out of the van and started swinging the

Ladies Tea Roberts Family Life Center children around and playing with them. Their faces lit up as we extended the love of Jesus to them. We did games, dances, songs and skits. The most touching skit was Special Place. This is about a child who grows up with an abusive father and a mother who abandons him. He reaches out to others for love, but only receives rejection until Jesus lovingly comes along and informs him that He has a special place for this boy. Many children were crying, as well as the adults. In this area abuse and abandonment occurs constantly. We were able to pray for these children and adults. I believe that many were touched by the power of God. Thank you, my brothers and sisters in Christ. As you have been faithful to send us to Nicaragua, we have seen and share with you that over 700 new souls have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in two weeks time. God is using Rolla First Assembly of God for such a time as this. We can all rejoice knowing that we are all laboring together to further the kingdom of God. -Cheryl Briggeman

I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. Isaiah 62:6-7 All night prayer sets in place the watchmen that cry out to God for the benefit of Gods people and for the movement of Gods hand in our lives and most importantly for just a glimpse of the Lord as He passes by us in the midst of the prayer room and shares the heart of a loving Savior for the lost. Just as Isaiahs praying watchmen who approached the throne of God were able to reach heaven with their prayers, so are the watchmen of Rolla First Assembly, who cry out to God and give Him no rest until He establishes Rolla and our surrounding communities. These watchmen are not any more special or spiritual than the next person. They are just ordinary people who have come to the throne of grace and allowed God to use them for His extraordinary purpose. They are people just like you. All Night Prayer began just about one year ago, when a few International Students sensed a calling from God to set watch in the midst of the church, the MS&T Campus and the surrounding community. August 2010 was the first All Night Prayer meeting, and with its inception came the foundational basis for growth, blessings, healings and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Fruit has been produced and we have seen re-

sults such as the formation and now official registration of All Nations Christian Fellowship. During All Night Prayer, we have seen people give their lives to Christ. We have heard prophesy poured out and have watched as God touched and renewed brokenness. We have grown closer to the Lord and have been challenged to move forward in our faith. Personally, I feel I am a different person than I was in August, 2010. And I know it is because of prayer. All of my prayers have not been answered yet, but I know and can say with confidence that my Redeemer lives and with each movement of prayer, He brings me closer to His heart. I love that! As we move closer to that one year anniversary, I want to thank Gireesh Menta, Theresa OdunAyo and Ajay Hamasukwa for being obedient to Gods call in their lives to begin All Night Prayer meetings. When the anniversary date comes in August at least two of them may have already moved on and possibly all three. But as with any act of obedience toward the Lord there is yet another piece of the great legacy of God left with us here, and the changes that have come because of All Night Prayer will move forward to accomplish all that God has intended for this community. I want to encourage all who can, to be a part of All Night Prayer. It is typically on the second Friday of each month. It begins at 8:00 pm and ends at 3:00 am. I would even go further and challenge you to be a part of this great move of God and just watch and see what the Lord will do in your life. You will not be disappointed! -Carol Hudler

Alaska
We are having a great time in the Lord here in Dillingham, Alaska. We descended upon Anchor of Hope church and the progress is amazing! Team Kyle and Team Swithin are putting concrete siding on the two story parsonage. Scaffolding is solid and no injuries of any kind. Team Frank is doing electric and plumbing (new sewer this time, praise the Lord!). Jamie, Kitty, Dan, and Jim are painting the outside of the fellowship hall and parsonage. Team Young Women Who Like Little Kids are having the last day of VBS/Kid's Crusade, and Dave Milligan is pretending to be Len Miles and starting to sound like him! We are taking a group to the Peter Pan cannery to watch salmon being processed, we are going to the beach for a Christian party by midnight sun, and we are enjoying fellowship and worship together. The rough edges are getting sanded off by each other, and we are learning Alaskan ways to do things (like using Saran Wrap and 3/8" masking tape to mask windows for spray painting because the barge didn't bring 2 ml plastic or wide tape.)

Joplin
You cannot go to help in any relief effort without walking away from it with teetering emotions. On one hand there is a sense of satisfaction at being able to be a part, if even in some small way, in helping others get back on their feet. Then on the other hand it stirs up a sense of frustration as you stare in the face the results of a disaster that came and toppled a city leaving in its wake death and destruction as it buried in the rubble not only homes, possessions and lives, but also the sense of security and peace that we hope comes in day to day living. After working in Joplin for only one day it is set in my mind and in my heart that there are only two things that really matter. They are: the God that I serve and the people around me, in that order. My family and those people I journey with in this life are far more important than anything I possess. And even greater than that my Jesus is all that really matters in the end. When all is said and done, just give me Jesus. Without Jesus, a disaster such as

this can strip a person of everything leaving him without any hope. Yet, I know that when hope is placed in Jesus Christ, he remains forever. And when I live my life for Him, those people around me are more precious and more important than anything this world holds. In respect to the things I try to hold on to; they will all perish. This world truly has nothing for me, for in a moment it can all be shaken. Jesus Christ living in me cannot be shaken. His love endures forever. After helping with the relief effort in Joplin, I came back with an ability to give a little more, a desire to love a whole lot more and an even keener awareness that this world is not my home. My heart goes out to so many who have met with this devastation in Joplin. I pray God will meet their needs, and that many willing hands will go and help bring restoration back there. - Carol Hudler In the wee morning hours, the Joplin work crew spent the drive chatting and getting to know one another. Then conversation changed to exclamations of Wow! Look! Oh my! as we approached the city. We saw twisted road signs, blown out windows and scattered trash. Then we came to the most impacted area and only silence filled the van. The vast devastation was overwhelming. Homes had been blown into small bits,

tree tops sheared off leaving no greenery, birds or squirrels. Cars were crumpled and furniture was wrapped in the trees. The hospital looked as if it had been bombed. There was abundant generosity, some places having more than they could handle. There were volunteers of all kinds from many places willing to do whatever needed to be done: firemen passing out gloves, police giving masks, people bringing ice and cold drinks. Churches set up on all over town providing hot meals, cold drinks, and supplies of all kinds. Yet, in the midst of the destruction, kindness and gratefulness is what stands out the most in our memories. We spent one day just cleaning a driveway and part of a yard. It seemed to us that we accomplished so little, yet the family was choked with emotion when thanking us. We shared cold bottled water with other workers in the area and always the people were appreciative for even the smallest of deeds, a simple bottle of cold water. Some were surprised that workers would come from such distance. One man, leery about our presence, at the end of the day thanked us for our work on his neighbors house. It certainly is a picture of what it means to give thanks in all circumstances. - Alhesha Lane

Nicaragua
The trip was truly amazing! We did 18 programs while we were there. We had music, dancing, skits and dramas. We also had clowns, games, and prizes. We had a team of 5 nationals who we worked with and they were all wonderful. There were over 2,000 people who came to the programs, over 700 who gave their life to Christ, and 400 who needed prayer for healing and family problems. The trip really changed my point of view about people from other countries, and while I was there God confirmed in me that I was to be a missionary. I look forward to going back soon and doing God's work. - Kaitlyn Feller

I went to Nicaragua for two weeks starting May 28th to June 10th. When we first got there I was excited to see what God was going to do on the trip and in my life personally. The first few days we were there we just practiced songs and worked on dramas for the programs we were going to be doing every day. Then the first place we went to do a program was in a small town and we went out to peoples homes to invite them to the program. These people were living in house that they had literally made out of mud and let it dry. Everything they had was old and worn out. It really hit me that America is blessed with so much stuff but were so ungrateful. Then one of the last places we went to was at a school right next to the dump. When we got there it smelt terrible and flies were everywhere. But then there where kids that were sick and bleeding out of their mouths because they hadnt eaten in so long. We had fresh water and they all wanted some so they started grabbing bottles out of the dirt and trash just to get a drink of clean water. It was really a sad thing. On the bright side though while we were there we did 18 street programs and ministered to 2000+ people. Out of that number over 700 kids and/or parents decided to say the sinners prayer and accept Jesus as Lord. I feel like it was a successful trip and I plan to go back next year! -Tanner Martin Is that, water? The little boy asked me with a look of awe on his face. I looked down at the cool, clean water that was flowing into my water bottle from the igloo. The water that we all took for granted. I answered the boy, Yes, would you like some? In no time at all that boy, along with several others came up to me with empty bottles. Then I noticed where these boys were getting the bottles, they were getting them out of the trash near their school. Some of these bottles were extremely dirty
