Acknowledgements
We would like to acknowledge the genius of Larry Nims and his creation of Be Set Free Fast (BSFF). ZPoint takes his basic idea of using a healing program and a cue word and approaches it from a completely different point of view. I am deeply grateful to Judy Davidson who helped me bring my original vision to life. I also thank Savitri Galardo for her deep wisdom and experience. I also wish to acknowledge the help of the many other individuals who supported and encouraged this work in its early stages. You know who you are. Grant Connolly, CHt I wish to thank my husband, Kevin, for all of his support, as well as the many therapists, healers and colleagues who have assisted me on my own healing and professional journeys while teaching me, through instruction and example, how wonderful energy work can be. I also would like to thank the many clients who have allowed me to be part of their own journeys. A special thanks to Linda for her unwavering friendship, support and encouragement through both happy and difficult times. Without all of these people, this work would not have been possible. Carol Ann Rowland, MSW, RSW Our gratitude goes to Margaret Condy for taking on the task of editing this manual. Her editorial eye and knowledge have added immeasurably to the readibility of this project.

How ZPoint was Created

It is my belief that everything in life is a process. For me, the process that culminated in the creation of ZPoint began in the spring of 1999. At that time I was working in the Computer Department of Sir Sandford Fleming College in my home town just east of Toronto Canada. I was a very unhappy person and was never satisfied with anything. I think Id been that way all of my life. I was filled with anger, resentment, deep disappointment with my life and a bottomless longing for something more that I couldnt define. I think I may have been an undiagnosed Bipolar. I was either up or down and seldom in between. One day I came across a reference to a book about a fellow who claimed to have achieved enlightenment while serving a term in a Florida jail for selling drugs. The idea that this could happen under such conditions intrigued me so I immediately ordered the book. It was called From Onions to Pearls by Satyam Nadeen. There was something in that book that laid waste to every idea, belief and cherished notion that I had ever had. That book was a hand grenade thrown into a room filled with furniture, and the furniture was everything I believed and held to be true. For some reason, the ideas in that book completely cleared away all of my old ways of being and left me bereft and adrift. I didnt know what to believe, what was right, what was wrong, what was up or what was down. I was a completely empty vessel. For the next month or so I wandered around completely oblivious to everything. I can recall sitting on my couch at home just staring off into space. Just being. Gradually, I started rebuilding the furniture of my mind and my life began to make sense again. However, nothing was the same after that. I was different. I had changed. Some months later I "chanced" upon a website advertising an opportunity to become a Certified Hypnotherapist. I immediately remembered back to when I was a teenager, and the dreams I had for myself. There were three things I wanted more than anything: to write a book, to become "enlightened" and to learn hypnosis. I read everything I could about the latter two and trusted that one day I would write that book. I can recall buying a simple how to book on hypnosis when I was about 14 and set out to hypnotize some of my friends, sometimes with hilarious results. In late 1999 I fulfilled that dream and became certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists as a Hypnotherapist. My wife, the handyperson in our family, converted our dining room into an office and I began seeing clients on a part time basis. My life continued to change, often in ways I could not have imagined. It became increasingly more difficult to keep my mind focused on my job. It just didnt seem to fit me anymore. More and more my thoughts became centred on becoming a full time Hypnotherapist. I started talking more and more about leaving my job and devoting myself full time to my practice. Unfortunately Peterborough is a relatively small place

vi

and I wasnt earning enough to pay my way. My overwhelming desire for change led to a crisis within my marriage. Quite often in our relationships we have unspoken contracts, shared goals, dreams and ways of being. When these ways of being change, as mine did so dramatically, seemingly stable relationships can come apart revealing difficulties that lay buried beneath the surface. One person wishes everything to remain the same while the other is moved inexorably along a different path, in a different direction entirely. This is what happened to me. In the summer of 2003 I was sharing an apartment with a friend in a suburb of Toronto. I was earning a bare subsistence living as a full time Hypnotherapist and EFT, TAT Practitioner. Although financially things were difficult, emotionally and spiritually I was thriving. The ups and downs were gone. Having said this, there were still deep issues I needed to resolve and was looking for a means of resolving them. I felt that I had gone as far as I could with EFT and TAT alone. Around that time I read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. That book had a huge impact on me. I practiced being in the Now constantly and after a while could enter into the NOW state at will. I vividly recall how magical it was to simply walk down the street and watch the flowers and trees and suddenly my awareness would shift. Everything took on a life and a brilliance Id never noticed before. Id walk to the Scarborough bluffs and spend hours sitting on a certain park bench overlooking Lake Ontario, just watching the clouds, the birds, and the trees and drink in the magic that I saw spread before me. It was, as Ive said, a magical time. Right at this time two things happened that changed my life. First, my flat-mate purchased Larry Nims BSFF Manual, and second I read Power vs. Force by David R. Hawkins. I read Larrys manual and tried using BSFF but somehow it didnt feel right to me. It is a brilliant piece of work, but it just didnt resonate with how I thought and especially how I felt. I am very intuitive and approach everything from a feeling perspective. So I set it aside. Then I read Hawkins Power vs. Force. In it he speaks about M-Fields. As I understood it, these are simply energetic patterns containing all of the possibilities inherent within an event or a circumstance or a condition. My life for example can be viewed in these terms. It is a large M-Field with my name on it. Within that field are all of the smaller patterns that go to make up my thoughts, feelings and circumstances. A bubble, within a bubble within a bubble. Taken in ever broader terms, the world itself and the universe and everything that exists or has the potential of existing is its own M-Field, one within the other. I recall sitting in the washroom one night, where I often do my best thinking, and suddenly I put everything together. M-Fields, how to adapt the cue word and healing program from BSFF and Eckhart Tolles Pain Body. I saw how everything fit together so perfectly and so simply. Whole and complete. I saw it all in one instant.

vii

I was overwhelmed and immediately set to work translating what I had seen into a usable process. I spent hours and hours trying this and trying that. I recall reading a post on the BSFF list about the agreements we make with ourselves, and this was added to the process. I read about the importance of forgiveness and this too was added to the mix. Friends would have an idea and we would try it out immediately. These were very exciting times. I spent many hours sitting on that park bench filled with the possibilities of this concept. The end result was the original ZPoint version you will read in the appendix at the end of this manual. As I said when I began this story, everything is a process. Almost exactly a year later, after having used the original ZPoint Process on many people and having written the original manual, I had another idea. I was walking through High Park in Toronto, just enjoying my walk and decided to clear something that had been bothering me. I started going through the process, which at this time was 12 or 13 steps when I found myself sayingI clear all the ways I . I stopped dead and backtracked in my mind recalling what I said to myself. I was astounded. Again I saw the concept clearly of how to simplify the process and make it more effective at the same time. I recall that I didnt have paper and a pen with me so I walked all the way home repeating I clear all the ways over and over so I wouldnt forget it before I got home. And that is how the current version was born. I expect there will be others in time. On October 8th of 2004 I felt compelled to create a Yahoo group and share what I had found with as many people as possible. I called it SharingZeroPoint for that reason. One of the first members was Carol Ann Rowland. I was so impressed with her caring and her intelligence I was guided to ask her to be co-moderator of the list. That may have been one of my better decisions. Thank you Carol Ann for helping me spread the word of this incredible process. You have added immeasurably to its development and to its success. I am very grateful to be the bearer of this process. I promise to always do my best to bring forth that which is given to me in trust for all of you. Grant Connolly, Toronto, March 2005

Preface
by Grant Connolly In The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle writes about what he calls the pain body. As I understand it, the pain body is the accumulated experience of an individual, feelings and all, stored like a recording within the subconscious mind. There is also a collective pain body representing the whole of humanity. Carl Jung called this the collective unconscious. Everything weve ever seen, heard, thought, felt or imagined is stored within the subconscious, both personally and collectively. Portions of this recording are triggered to play back whenever we experience or think we are experiencing circumstances similar to the one stored in the recording. When this happens, we seem to get lost somehow and completely identify ourselves with that pattern or recording. In effect, we become the pattern. The pattern takes over and we just go along for the ride. All too often this happens with disastrous results. Many years ago I spent a weekend in Canadas capital, Ottawa, and opted to eat dinner one evening at McDonalds (this was before I knew anything about nutrition!). It was late and the place was filled mostly with teenagers. Suddenly, one young man stood up and sent chairs and tables flying, throwing anything he could find to the floor. I stood against the wall and watched as this young man trashed the place. I felt drawn to watch his eyes and the expressions on his face. It struck me that that young man really wasnt there. The lights were on but clearly, there was no one at home. In other words, he was playing out some of his patterns, but was not truly present in the moment as he acted. The patterns we delete are simply pre-recorded, choreographed responses we have to certain situations. Smoking is a pattern, as are overeating, procrastination, self-destructive behaviour, fears, phobias, body-image problems, financial difficulties, relationship problems and so on. And, like a recording, these patterns play back when activated by some interior or exterior event. When this happens, just like the young man in McDonalds, you are no longer present within your body as the witnessing consciousness and are literally taken over by the recording. The result is that you the real you is no longer making the decisions; the pattern is. You are not the pattern and never have been. Youve just given over your power to the pattern. ZPoint is simply a means of taking back what already belongs to you. You are taking back your right to choose for yourself! In effect, you are waking yourself up from a long, long sleep. It is a simple matter, using ZPoint, to delete these patterns completely and safely. After they have been deleted, you the real you is back in charge. Once you begin to clear

ix

these patterns, you will no longer be driven to overeat, procrastinate, sabotage your own success or do whatever it is that your particular pattern drives you to do. You will be free to make your own choices, to make your own decisions. You will be wide awake to the possibilities of the present moment. The purpose of this manual is to give you enough information to be able to use this process on your own and begin the task of freeing yourself from the dominance of the pain body. And once you begin deleting patterns, you will find it easier and easier to be focused in the present moment and to make choices based on what you want and what serves you, rather than following the needs of the pattern and mindlessly repeating past anger, pain, disappointment, shame and blame over and over again. You will be free. Another way of understanding patterns and our relation to them is to think of yourself as being very much like a computer. The subconscious mind is the default program or basic operating system that tells you how to do things in life. It tells you how to react to certain situations, it tells you how to have a relationship, it tells you how to live a wonderful, fulfilled and happy life. However, what if over time that program has become corrupted or damaged in some way? What if that damage was caused by other programs that you loaded on top of the operating system? What if you accepted these new programs without understanding that they were harmful? How could you fix this? Just as you would on your computer, you could install an anti-virus program that would delete these damaged areas and replace them with healthy code. Wouldnt that be a good thing to be able to do? In effect, you can and will be doing exactly this with ZPoint. You will be loading a simple, effective and completely safe healing program into your subconscious mind. This program marshals the incredible power of your subconscious mind when activated by your cue word, and will release or clear all of the old, unhealthy patterns or ways of thinking that have caused so much difficulty in your life. You will heal yourself. The combination of the cue word and the other instructions you will give to your subconscious are like a magic wand that you will wield to great effect.

Chapter 1

An Introduction to ZPoint
ZPoint is a very simple process that is designed to heal all the ways we are in conflict with ourselves and others. It does this by quickly and easily allowing us to release strong feelings of anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame, guilt, resentment, disappointment, hatred, fear, sadness and unforgiveness, whether directed toward ourselves or others. In this manual you will learn how to very quickly heal and clear away those feelings permanently and with surprisingly little effort or upset. Then, amazingly, you will find yourself responding peacefully, even when facing some of lifes most difficult situations. Your life will become easier, more loving and infinitely more enjoyable. The method by which ZPoint works is twofold. One aspect of this involves the use of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind controls many aspects of what we say, feel, think and do. The subconscious mind does what we tell it to do, on a continual basis. One way that this manifests can involve how we relate to others. Often, early in our lives we have an experience of being hurt by someone, and have the automatic thought, Ill never let anyone close to me again. We may or may not remember having had this thought, but our subconscious mind remembers it for us. Years later we may wonder why we feel distant from others and struggle to feel close again; the reason is that the subconscious mind is doing exactly what we have asked it to do. With ZPoint we are using this ability in a very conscious way, to allow ourselves to reprogram the subconscious mind. The old patterns and agreements that we needed in the past are often no longer useful to us now, and so we simply ask to have them replaced with what we would like to feel, do and experience in the present. When ZPoint was first created, it was believed that the process was so powerful because of the subconscious mind alone. However, it became apparent that something even more powerful was at work. People using ZPoint very frequently describe body sensations and energetic experiences that indicate that universal energy the same energy that is utilized during Reiki, Healing Touch and other channeling approaches is facilitating the healing that occurs during the ZPoint Process. As a Reiki practitioner, Carol Ann first assumed that the energetic experiences she was having when she used ZPoint herself were occurring because she had been attuned to Reiki. However, again and again we received reports from people friends, family, colleagues, and members of the SharingZeroPoint list on Yahoo.com and clients who were experiencing something similar. The energetic experiences reported have ranged from sensations of tingling or buzzing occurring in the hands, feet and chakra areas (we discuss chakras further in Chapter 4) 11

and sometimes throughout the body. If a large clearing has occurred, people sometimes report feeling as if their entire body is vibrating. At times this sensation is so strong that it feels as if even the internal organs are vibrating. People who are energy sensitive are often most aware of this type of experience. However, we have both worked with clients who have never knowingly been exposed to universal energy before and had no framework to understand it. Even so, they would comment on how the top of their head or their forehead felt warm, tingly, open or otherwise unusual. These areas correspond to the crown and third-eye chakras, which often become activated in relation to spiritual and/or intuitive experiences. On one occasion Carol Ann had the good fortune to teach a clairvoyant colleague how to use ZPoint Processing. This person sees energy, and she described seeing a holographic light bridge extending between herself and Carol Ann as they worked together. With some of her ZPoint statements she saw big vortices of energy going down deep into the earth, and with others she saw similar vortices going up into the universe. She reported a deep sense of being connected energetically not only to Carol Ann but also to others around the world, and a sense of unified oneness joining all of humanity. It would appear that something more powerful than a reliance on the subconscious mind is at work here! The purpose of this manual is to present, in very simple terms, a process of transformation and healing that has proven to be quite profound. The book itself is broken down into chapters that start from a general perspective and progressively work their way into more specific applications of the basic process.

Chapter 2

The ZPoint Process

The ZPoint Process begins with a simple, one-time installation program. After you have completed this, you then go through three easy steps each time you use the ZPoint Process.

The Installation Program

You only need to read the following installation program one time. After that, you will never have to refer to it again. You will only need to remember your cue word1. To activate the program, first choose a cue word. Any word will do, but try to avoid using words that have a strong emotional content attached to them, such as money or sex. Some of the cue words people commonly choose are peace, free and shazam. Now read the following instructions, aloud if possible:

I hereby set a powerful intention within you, my subconscious mind, to effect the best of all possible outcomes by this clearing, and that each time I notice a pattern or patterns I wish to eliminate, as I say or think my cue word, you will eliminate all such patterns and components of patterns completely and safely. Each time I repeat my cue word in sequence, you will access deeper and deeper layers and all parts and aspects of my being.

Cue words are like a flashlights on-switch. You point your flashlight in the direction you wish to shine some light. This act of pointing or directing is the clearing statement (step 1 of the ZPoint Process). Then, when you switch on your flashlight say your cue word the beam illuminates your target.

13

The Three-Step Process

The process itself is quite simple. Just focus on an area where you are having difficulty and say the following three statements aloud or to yourself. At the end of each statement, repeat your cue word aloud or silently as if it were a mantra, until you experience a shift. What a shift tends to feel like is a sense of release or relaxing of the body. This usually occurs within 15 to 30 seconds. Step 1. I clear all of the ways2 that [I feel depressed, angry, resentful, jealous, etc.]. <repeat cue word for 15 to 30 seconds> Step 2. I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> Step 3. I clear all of the emotions3 connected to all of these patterns. <cue> Step 1. I clear all of the ways Here you are clearing or releasing all of the ways that you feel a specific emotion or group of emotions. We often feel uncomfortable in a specific situation. Using this statement, you literally clear all of the possible ways you feel that emotion. Remember that we work from the general to the specific so that the results generalize to as many areas as possible. It is often enough just to place your awareness on this area of discomfort and release it using this statement. Step 2. I clear all of the patterns Patterns, as we explained in the preface, are simply pre-recorded, choreographed responses we have to certain situations. We may have many thousands of these stored within our subconscious mind and in the collective unconscious of humanity itself. Step 3. I clear all of the emotions Our emotions appear to be the engine that drives or powers our patterns. When you clear the emotions from any memory or pattern, it no longer has the power to control you. As we will explain shortly, emotions become stuck or attached to patterns and create blockages in the energy system. The meanings you assign to the patterns work in a similar way. Clearing the blockages that result from the emotions and meanings that you assign to the patterns releases tremendous amounts of energy that can then be used by the entire personality. Once the blockages are cleared, you literally begin to bloom as you attract into your life those things that bring you tremendous joy and fulfillment.

Linking the Ways

You can also link ways statements. Linking is simply clearing a number of related emotions, one after another, and then following with steps 2 and 3. Heres an example:
If appropriate, you can substitute the word reasons instead of ways. all of the emotions include any anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame, guilt, resentment, sadness, fear and unforgiveness toward yourself and others, including God (or the universe, or whatever word fits, according to your belief system). Now that you have read this, it will be remembered by your subconscious.

I clear all of the ways that I am stressed. <cue> I clear all of the ways that driving in traffic causes me to be stressed. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am impatient. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hate being stuck in traffic. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my energy field. <cue>

Then finish this set with steps 2 and 3: I clear all of the patterns connected to all these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Listen to a Short ZPoint Session

Ive recorded a short introduction to ZPoint. Just go to the following link http://www.zpointprocess.com/sharing/intro.wma and you will download a short Windows Media audio file. This will let you hear me taking you through the steps. There is no substitute for the actual experience.

Psychological Reversal
Readers who are experienced with energy work particularly EFT will likely be familiar with the term psychological reversal. While we have found that, for whatever reason, psychological reversal appears to be less of an issue when using ZPoint than it is with EFT or similar approaches, it does occasionally need to be corrected for. Psychological reversal refers to what is occurring when you consciously want to heal something, yet part of you is trying to prevent this from happening. This is an experience that most of us can relate to. An example might be when you have firmly decided you are going to lose weight, and yet you find yourself unable to follow your plan to eat healthier and exercise more! Often when part of you is trying to prevent a change from occurring, it is because that part is getting something out of holding onto the problem. This frequently relates to feeling safer. An example of this is someone who has a fear of confrontation that interferes with their ability to discuss upsetting issues with others. Part of them may be unwilling to let go of this problem because they believe that if they were no longer afraid and were to say what they thought, then they might be harmed. Alternatively, part of

15

them may be afraid that others would be harmed if they were to express their feelings and opinions. In order to correct for psychological reversal, simply clear with some or all of the following statements: I clear all the ways that I have psychological reversal. <cue> I clear all the ways its not possible for me to clear these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways its not safe for me to clear these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways its not safe for others if I clear these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways Im not willing to clear these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways parts of me get something out of holding onto these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways parts of me get something out of these issues. <cue> I clear all the ways I dont believe that this could ever work for me. <cue>

Follow this with steps 2 and 3. Many people will quickly correct for psychological reversal before doing any energy work treatment. It isnt always necessary to correct for it we arent always psychologically reversed. However, it is very fast and easy to correct for, so it often makes sense to do this first as part of a routine. That saves time having to repeat the treatment later if it didnt have the desired effect. However, if you find you dont always remember to correct for psychological reversal or find it to be one further step you dont want to bother with, dont worry about it. You will know if ZPoint is working for you because you will feel peaceful and you will notice that the previously troubling thoughts, feelings, memories, beliefs, behaviours and relationships are no longer of concern. Just remember that if at some point a treatment doesnt go as planned, this is one strategy you can try. If the only way you ever used ZPoint were as weve just described it, you would still have an incredibly powerful healing method at your disposal anytime and anywhere. However, we have some suggestions for approaching the bigger picture in order to maximize healing on all levels and strengthen the overall energetic system.

16

Chapter 3

The Big Picture

The more we do this work, the more we come to believe that there is an overall pattern to clearing all the ways we are unhappy, unfulfilled or challenged in some way. A number of months ago, I had the idea that this work could be approached in much the same manner as orthomolecular medicine. This relatively new branch of medicine has a single premise: bring the body into balance and it will heal itself. Discover what nutrients, vitamins, minerals and amino acids the body lacks and begin the process of restoring equilibrium by giving the body what it needs to be well. This isnt a new idea, but it is one that has been largely ignored by many until quite recently. It occurred to me that this idea might be a good premise from which to base ZPoint as well. The old paradigm of medicine is to treat the symptoms and ignore the root causes. To a large extent this is what we had originally been doing in our work with ZPoint. This isnt to say that what weve been doing hasnt been effective, because it has. However, it is our belief that there are foundational steps that can be taken first, to bring the body, mind and spirit into an overall state of balance. We believe that if we begin by bringing ourselves into a state of balance and wholeness, this in turn will facilitate the process of spiritual, emotional and physical transformation.

The Eight Tasks

In the following eight chapters, we explore what we believe to be the prerequisites to achieving emotional, energetic and spiritual homeostasis. Each of these tasks by itself wont solve deep-seated spiritual, physical or emotional challenges. However, taken together, they will put you into a place where major shifts can more easily happen. Task One Balancing and Strengthening the Energy Pathways (Chapter 5). This includes correcting for homolateral energy, calming an overactive triple warmer meridian (when appropriate), balancing the chakra system and repairing fractured energy grids. Homolateral energy, triple warmer meridian, chakras and energy grids will all be explained in this chapter. In effect, you are balancing your bodys energy system. Task Two Releasing Sacred Agreements (Chapter 6). These are agreements we make with ourselves during emotionally charged periods. These can also be agreements made in other lives and other existences that are brought forward into this life. For example, suppose you take a risk that leads to disastrous consequences. In the emotional aftermath that follows, you have the thought that Ill never take a risk again. Agreements like this are quickly forgotten by the conscious mind, but are still fully in force within your subconscious. Decades possibly even lifetimes later they may still

17

be in place. This may not always be for your highest good; sometimes it is good to take risks! If nobody ever took risks, new ideas wouldnt be shared. With ZPoint we reprogram the subconscious mind and release energetic connections to past agreements or contracts in a very conscious way so that we can start doing, expressing and feeling more of what we do want and less of what no longer serves our best interests. Task Three Moving Into Your Own Power (Chapter 7). Too often we tend to shy away from using our own personal power. This may manifest in any number of ways, including being unable to speak our truth, being unable to advocate for ourselves, being unwilling to embrace and reveal our personal gifts and being reluctant to be fully open to energetic experiences. Clearing all the ways you fear coming into your power, while upholding the responsibility to use your power in a balanced and loving way, in effect allows you to open your life to joy. Task Four Transforming Core Beliefs (Chapter 8). A core belief is any central belief that other beliefs are based on. Core beliefs tend to permeate many or even all areas of our lives. Clearing or changing your core beliefs to ones that serve you rather than those that are based on fear can dramatically affect all of your ways of being. Since we know that ZPoint affects us at a deep subconscious level, any positive affirmations and changes you make to your core beliefs will affect you in a very powerful and positive way. Task Five Healing Your Relationships (Chapter 9). Relationships form the backbone of our lives, whether we like it or not. We have relationships with practically everyone and everything in our lives. We have relationships with family, co-workers, our boss, our customers, friends and those we dislike. We also have relationships with money, cars and the things we prefer to avoid. And, of course, we have a relationship with ourselves. Relationships can be difficult or they can be incredibly rewarding or anything in between. The only difference between a good relationship and a bad one is the level of resistance you experience with each. Task Six Healing Past Experiences of Trauma (Chapter 10). Left unhealed, past traumas whether big T or little t leave areas of upset and vulnerability, drain your energy and change your view of yourself and the world. Task Seven Moving Beyond What You Dont Want (Chapter 11). Resisting anything sets up an energy dynamic that activates the spiritual Law of Attraction. This law states that whatever you focus on whatever you give your attention to will tend to expand and be attracted further into your life. In this step you focus on those things you wish to bring into your life.

18

Task Eight Treating Specific Life Challenges (Chapter 12). Now that the root causes have been taken into consideration, you can address specific challenges such as illness and poverty with some confidence. Obviously, these eight tasks are interrelated. The effects of systematically addressing each of them in turn should have a dramatic impact on your state of well-being emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically.

Chapter 4

The Energy System

It has been known for thousands of years that the universe and everything in it, whether seen or unseen, is composed of energy. And because we are part of this universe and all that exists within it, we are composed of energy as well.

The Energy Model4

The energy model can be stated as follows: 1. Everything that exists is composed of energy. 2. Energy is only energy it isnt good or bad, right or wrong. 3. Energy is designed to flow, and is not designed to be held or stored. 4. Human beings are conduits for energy, not energy containers. 5. Problems and difficulties show up as a result of a disruption, blockage or resistance to the flow of that energy. According to Gary Craig, who developed Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), The cause of any discomfort, disease or pain is a disruption in the energy system. When your energy system is out of alignment or a blockage occurs, such a disruption takes place. Our belief is that our thoughts and beliefs themselves and the subsequent build-up of emotions surrounding them are the prime cause of this disruption of the energy system. If we either clear the emotion surrounding the belief or transform the belief itself, we free the trapped energy to move as it was designed to do. You can visualize this process by imagining a logjam in a river. Clearing the right log will release all of the logs and allow them to flow freely again, down the river to the mill.

Our Energy Centres

It is widely believed that there are seven main energy centres or transducers in the human body. In Sanskrit, these are called chakras.

The Energy model was kindly provided by Dr. Houston (Doc Results) Vetter at http://www.achieve-your-potential.com

20

A transducer is a device that transforms one form of energy into another. The chakra system appears to be the connecting link or main distribution device between energy pathways that run throughout the body. These energy centres transform spiritual energy into matter-based energy for our use. While an in-depth explanation of these centres is beyond the scope of this manual, we have named each chakra here, along with its activating colour, location and a general description of its function in our lives. Base or Root Chakra Colour: red Location: the base of the spine Contains the primary eight cells that have all of the knowledge of creation and remain the only cells in your body that dont change in your lifetime. Grounds us in the physical world. Sacral Chakra Colour: orange Location: just beneath the navel Related to your sexual and reproductive capacity. Blockage manifests as emotional problems or sexual guilt. Solar Plexus Chakra Colour: yellow Location: the solar plexus Seat of the emotions. Gives you a sense of personal power in the world. Blockage manifests as anger or a sense of victimization. Heart Chakra Colour: green Location: the heart Blockage can manifest as immune system or heart problems, or a lack of compassion. Throat Chakra Colour: blue Location: the throat Tied to creativity and communication. Feels pressure when you arent communicating your emotions properly.

21

Third Eye Chakra Colour: indigo Location: between the eyebrows (pineal gland) Is a physical eye with the capabilities of looking inward spiritually. Crown Chakra Colour: purple Location: crown Connects you with messages from higher realms. Can be experienced as a pressure, warmth or tingling on the top of the head.

Chapter 5

Task One Balancing and Strengthening the Energy Pathways

Homolateral Energy
When your body is functioning well energetically, your energy crosses over from one side of your body to the other. If energy is moving straight up and down each side of your body instead of crossing over, it is referred to as running homolaterally. Signs and symptoms of being homolateral include being more clumsy, having a harder time healing from physical and emotional difficulties, tripping over words, feeling scrambled, and having even little things kind of hit you harder and cause upset when normally they wouldnt. When your energy is homolateral, everything is more upsetting. Carol Ann states that she has found that when she is upset about something, she recognizes that sometimes she is homolateral. If she corrects for homolateral energy, the issue will no longer feel nearly as upsetting, even if she has done nothing to target the actual feelings and concerns involved. Everyone is homolateral some of the time. Stress, illness or upset can cause you to go homolateral in the moment. Most people move in and out of being homolateral. Some people however, are chronically homolateral. Having chronic homolateral energy patterns can make it very difficult to heal properly and to function in the world. Thats why its important to correct for this when it occurs. Donna Eden, in her book Energy Medicine, teaches an exercise called the homolateral cross crawl. This exercise can be used to persuade the energy in the body to begin crossing over again. The exercise isnt difficult to learn, but it takes a few minutes to complete. If you are chronically homolateral, you need a lot of discipline in practicing your energy work regularly in order to correct for this issue over the long term. The exercise may need to be done a few times a day every day for a few weeks in order to coax your body into a new way of being. Carol Ann was chronically homolateral, and found that many of the people she saw as clients also shared this issue. She noticed that most people herself included dont 23

possess the level of discipline required to regularly and continually correct for having homolateral energy. So Carol Ann began to use ZPoint to correct for this energetic imbalance. The statements that follow are ones that we have found extremely useful in correcting for a pattern of chronic homolateral energy. Since first correcting for her own pattern of having chronic homolateral energy, Carol Ann has found that her energy is now crossing over most of the time. If she encounters illness, upset or some other kind of trigger, her energy may start running homolateral again. However, it no longer feels like an overall way of life, and when she does notice she is homolateral, she is able to correct it quickly with a couple of statements, and she begins to feel balanced again once more. As we explained in the introduction, at the end of each statement, repeat the cue word for 15 to 30 seconds, or until you experience a shift. I clear all of the ways that my energy is homolateral. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my energy is chronically homolateral. <cue> I clear all the reasons my energy first began running homolaterally. <cue> I clear all of the ways that these ways and reasons have been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that these ways and reasons have been held in my energy field. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I install new ways of my energy crossing over. <cue> My energy crosses over in a continuous way. <cue> If something startles me I am able to stay not homolateral. <cue> If ever my energy does go homolateral, I notice this and easily correct it. <cue> All of this clearing is completely effective for all of the past, the present and the future. <cue>

If this isnt sufficient to clear a pattern of chronic homolateral energy, you may want to use the original 12-step version of ZPoint, found in the Appendix A. For more information about homolateral energy, as well as a wealth of knowledge about energy and the body, we highly recommend Energy Medicine.

The Triple Warmer Meridian

One thing found to be almost universal among people who have experienced significant traumas particularly when the traumas have been severe or repeated, and/or have

24

occurred in childhood is that their triple warmer meridians become habitually overenergized. The meridian system is the bodys own energy system. Much of Eastern medicine involves working with the meridian system. In acupuncture, needles are placed in different meridian points. Similarly, EFT and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) involve tapping on different meridian points to clear congested energy and thus release fears, traumas, phobias and other concerns. The triple warmer meridian governs the fight/flight/freeze response. With repeated traumatic incidents, the body can become locked into a fight/flight/freeze state and the triple warmer meridian may become chronically over-energized. This can be a concern not only because of the problematic symptoms (hypervigilance, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty focusing and so on) that then may become a way of life, but also because the triple warmer meridian is connected with the spleen meridian. When the triple warmer stays over-energized, it draws energy out of the spleen meridian, which supports the immune system. As a result, the immune system becomes weakened. If the body stays in this state long enough, the immune system can start attacking itself, and autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue may result. Again, if you would like further information about the triple warmer meridian, you will find Donna Edens book Energy Medicine particularly useful. Part of clearing trauma and related symptoms involves teaching the body that the emergency is now over. Donna Eden teaches a method of sedating the triple warmer meridian by holding triple warmer meridian points in sequence. This is a wonderful method that Carol Ann has used extensively in her work with those who have experienced violence. Clients who learn how to sedate their triple warmers and practice this regularly experience an immediate and dramatic reduction in their more fear-based trauma symptoms such as hypervigilance, anxiety and insomnia even when the traumas havent yet been directly processed. However, sedating the triple warmer can take several minutes, and in order to reprogram the body, it needs to be done two to three times a day, every day, on an ongoing basis to bring about lasting results. This can be time consuming, and people often find they have trouble making it a priority. Concern about this, and recognition of the importance of clearing triple warmer issues, led Carol Ann to try using ZPoint to clear the pattern of having a chronically overenergized triple warmer meridian, with remarkable success. The triple warmer will still get set off at times. Given that it is a mechanism that our body possesses in order to ensure our survival, it is neither possible nor desirable to eliminate this response completely. However, it gets set off much less often, requires increasingly larger triggers before becoming activated, and it doesnt take as long for it to re-settle afterwards.

25

Here is an example of how you can go about clearing the pattern of having a chronically over-energized triple warmer meridian. In this example, we also have some statements involving the spleen meridian, which runs into the triple warmer meridian. When the triple warmer meridian is over-energized, it tends to draw energy out of the spleen meridian, so it is best to address this as well. We highly recommend first correcting for psychological reversal (see page 5) on this issue, because anyone who has been through trauma may have parts of self that naturally believe it isnt safe to ever let their guard down. This, in fact, is the very reason the triple warmer becomes over-energized, so it may be necessary to target for massive psychological reversal before the clearing. Remember to repeat your cue word like a mantra with each statement until you experience a shift: I clear all of the reasons I have a chronically over-energized triple warmer. <cue> I clear all of the ways that this is held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all these reasons and ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all these patterns. <cue> I install new patterns of feeling calm and relaxed, and I am able to distinguish when I need to be on alert and when I do not. <cue> My triple warmer meridian is now sedated. <cue> My spleen meridian is now strengthened. <cue> My triple warmer meridian and spleen meridian are in perfect and natural balance. <cue> All of this clearing is completely effective for all of the past, the present and the future. <cue>

This should go a long way in helping you be less reactive to having the fight/flight/freeze response being triggered by innocuous sounds and events. When you encounter a situation that does set off the triple warmer, and you experience intense anxiety, fear or a startle response, it may be enough to focus on the emotional and physical sensations and think your cue word repeatedly. Then say to yourself, I am safe now, and again repeat the cue word. If you attempt this clearing and it doesnt appear to bring lasting results, try using the original, longer version of ZPoint (found in Appendix A) to target the pattern of having a chronically over-energized triple warmer meridian.

26

Balancing the Chakras

As noted earlier, when the chakras are blocked or out of alignment, you might experience a variety of symptoms. Clearing blockages from the chakras and bringing them into a state of balance will help to address these issues while simultaneously strengthening the overall energy system. I clear all of the ways that my root chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my sacral chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my solar plexus chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my heart chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my throat chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my third eye chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my crown chakra is blocked. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions and all of the meanings connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I bring all of my chakras into a perfect state of alignment. <cue> All of my chakras are balanced as they were designed to be. <cue> My entire chakra system is now functioning optimally. <cue>

Very powerful energy surges are generally experienced during this clearing. Many people will experience the sensation of an opening of the core channel of their body, in a way that is similar to a kundalini rising5, though less overwhelming.

The Energy Grids

Some people find when doing energy work that it is effective at the time, yet it doesnt seem to hold very well. They notice that they have to revisit the same issues and incidents, over and over again. Sometimes what is happening is that different aspects of those issues or incidents are coming up. This is very normal. However, it may be that the very same parts that previously had felt successfully cleared have again become problematic. Why does this happen? According to Donna Eden, the body contains an energy grid system that supports the overall energy system of the body. During times of shock or trauma, the individual grids may break. Having breaks in your energy grids can lead to energy work not holding well. Therefore, it is highly beneficial to repair the bodys grids.
5

Kundalini is a spiritual energy that lies dormant in everyone, coiled at the base of the spine. Once awakened, through meditation or other spiritual practices, it travels upward to the crown chakra, leading the person to a spiritual awakening.

27

This is usually done by an energy grid practitioner who has been specially trained by Donna Eden. But grid practitioners can be difficult to access in many parts of the world, which led us to the idea of using ZPoint to repair energy grids. We have seen excellent results with using ZPoint in this manner. Before doing clearing statements to repair energy grids, please work on the chakrastrengthening statements listed earlier in this chapter. The grid system requires a strong chakra system in order to function optimally. Although the instructions in installation of the cue word specify that use of the cue word will allow only the best of all possible outcomes, it is still wise to first strengthen the chakra system. It isnt always in your best interest to repair grids unless the chakra system is strong enough to fully support the grids. (For further information on the energy grid system, see Energy Medicine by Donna Eden, or visit Donna Edens website at www.innersource.net.) I clear all of the ways that my energy grids are broken. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my energy grids are misaligned. <cue> I clear all the reasons my energy grids originally broke. <cue> I allow my grids to repair gently and easily. <cue> I allow my energy field to realign to its natural state. <cue> I allow my energy grids to connect with the grid lines of the earth. <cue> I allow my grids to repair completely. <cue> My energy grids are now realigned. <cue> My energy flows in all the ways it was designed to. <cue> I clear all of the ways any and all other energy pathways are misaligned. <cue> I clear all the reasons why these other grids may be misaligned. <cue> I clear any energetic imbalance between my right side and left side. <cue> I clear any energetic imbalance between my top half and bottom half. <cue> I clear any energetic imbalance between my front and back. <cue> I clear any energetic imbalance between my inside and outside. <cue> I clear any energetic imbalance between all these eight aspects. <cue> I allow my energy to flow without hindrance or blockage. <cue> My grids are now resistant to shock. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my energy field. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways and reasons. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I allow my subconscious mind to create statements based upon the content of this clearing and run them now. <cue>

28

I extend all of this clearing to my past, present and future. <cue> I now retroactively repeat all of the clearings that I have ever done. <cue> I now run all statements from my higher self that I would benefit from hearing right now. <cue> I clear all of the statements I did not say but could have, would have or should have said. <cue

Chapter 6

Task Two Releasing Sacred Agreements

When we are confronted with a situation that causes great upset or pain, we often make an agreement with ourselves not to put ourselves in a position where we would be vulnerable to feeling this way again. These sacred contracts with ourselves remain tucked away within our subconscious minds and act just like a filter on a camera, letting in only experiences that dont act against or break the contract. These agreements are made and kept for our protection. However, a difficulty arises sooner or later when a personality reaches a certain level of awareness or growth. Emotionally, they are no longer in their spiritual infancy where they need to be protected from the consequences of their own thoughts. They have reached a point where this protection stifles further growth and must be set aside. This is the point each of you is at today. There is a second type of sacred agreement: these are the agreements made between ourselves and others. Although contracts of this nature are essentially contracts with ourselves, for our purposes we will treat them differently. On a soul level, balance is the most sought-after quality. And balance implies being at the zero point, where there are no attachments either way. If I, as an individual, feel that I owe you something, I will feel the pull of that obligation until it is fulfilled. This may also be viewed as a karmic debt. Using ZPoint to clear this debt automatically brings the issue into balance and releases the debt.

Clearing Statements for Releasing Sacred Agreements

Use the following statements to clear sacred agreements with yourself, and between yourself and others: I set the intention to be my authentic self completely. <cue> I acknowledge that I am a spiritual being. <cue> I acknowledge that my natural state is one of grace and acceptance. <cue> I fully allow myself to be my authentic self completely. <cue> All false beliefs and ideas that do not serve my joy fall away now. <cue> I am at peace. <cue> I am enough. <cue> I am wonderful. <cue> I am amazing. <cue> 30

I am filled with light. <cue> I am filled with joy. <cue> I acknowledge my connection with all that is. <cue> I acknowledge my connection with all aspects of myself. <cue> I am grateful to be alive. <cue> I am grateful for my place in this web of life. <cue> I acknowledge that I am a powerful spiritual being. <cue> I clear all of the agreements that I made with myself before coming into this life. <cue> I clear any and all agreements made with anyone before coming into this life. <cue> I release everyone and everything that no longer serves the divine plan of my life. <cue> I affirm that everyone and everything that no longer serves the divine plan of my life releases me. <cue> I release any and all sacred contracts that no longer serve my joy. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected with all of these contracts. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected with all of these patterns. <cue> I extend this clearing to my past, my present and my future. <cue>

Chapter 7

Task Three Moving Into Your Own Power1

The idea for this clearing first occurred when Grant noticed he was having difficulty clearing a personal issue. No matter how he tried, it would not seem to shift. Finally, in discussing it, we agreed it was not about the issue directly but rather fears of coming into his own power that were likely holding the problem in place. We came up with some statements to address this, and he noticed huge energy surges during the power clearing. He also found that the other issue then cleared more easily. Others who have tried this clearing have reported similar and incredibly powerful experiences with it.

Clearing Statements for Moving Into Your Own Power

Use the following statements to help you remove fears about coming into your own power: I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to be powerful. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I need to hide. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my happiness. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my prosperity. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my joy. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my peace. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let others hold the keys to my moving forward in life. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hide my potential. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I fear coming into my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I block myself from coming into my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I pretend I dont have power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I choose to not use my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I take on less than roles. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I take on responsibility for how others feel. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my past-life issues affect my feelings about being powerful. <cue>

Power used in this context does not equate with force. This is not a technique to become more forceful, rather it is a way to connect to and align yourself with your highest aspirations, whatever they may be.

32

I clear all of the ways that my past-life issues affect my willingness to be powerful. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am scared what will happen if I come into my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I will not allow my power to flow. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I see myself as less than others. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I am unwilling to come into my power. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I have anxiety about coming into my power. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I dont want to come into my power. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I resist knowing who I am. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am afraid I wont know who I am if I embrace my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I sabotage myself. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I fear getting lost in my ego if I embrace my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways part of me would choose to get lost in my ego if I embraced my power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I still uphold belief systems about empowerment that no longer serve my best interests. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these issues have been held in my energy field. <cue> I clear any and all past-life issues connected to all of this clearing. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways, decisions, reasons and issues. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I clear any mechanism or vulnerability within me that would allow any of these issues to return. <cue> I now am aware of who I am. <cue> I fully embrace my power. <cue> I fully embrace my strength. <cue> When the opportunity comes, I take it and do it. <cue> It is safe to be powerful. <cue> It is safe to fully be who I am. <cue> It is safe to let energy flow through me. <cue> It is safe for me to use my voice. <cue> It is safe for me to hold strong to who I am. <cue>

33

Chapter 8

Task Four Transforming Core Beliefs

When we work with clients, it is often apparent to us that people tend to play out certain themes in their lives over and over again. We believe that this occurs partly because early in life, in response to things we are told or experience, we make a decision about ourselves, others or the world. Our later behaviours and experiences then play out and reflect these earlier decisions or core beliefs. In order to change our core beliefs, therefore, we work on clearing the original decisions that were made, which led to the creation of these beliefs. It doesnt matter if you can remember when or why you first came to these decisions your subconscious mind will clear them for you if you simply ask it to. You can then be more open to having new experiences and creating new life patterns that are reflective of the essence of who you really are rather than the erroneous conclusions you came to early in life.

Clearing Statements for Core Beliefs

Some examples of clearing statements for common core beliefs follow. Not all of these will be central themes for everyone, but most of you will relate strongly to at least some of them. You also may have internalized any number of additional core beliefs that arent on the list. In order to figure out what your core beliefs are, when you experience upset, distress or confusion, stop and work first on clearing the upsetting emotion, with an awareness of noticing any beliefs hiding behind it. Often these hidden core beliefs tend to run in themes over time and will permeate many areas of your life. For ease of use, we have divided these examples of core beliefs into sections according to beliefs about self, beliefs about others and beliefs about the world. Core Beliefs about Self I clear the original decision I made that I am not good enough. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am incompetent. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am alone. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am unwanted. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am inherently flawed. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am defective. <cue> 34

I clear the original decision I made that I am a mistake. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am bad. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am not safe. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am helpless. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am vulnerable. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am afraid. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am uncertain. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that bad things that happen are my fault. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am not capable. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I cant say no. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I cant say what I need. <cue>

Core Beliefs about Others Many of the preceding statements can simply be reworded with the word others. For example, instead of I clear the original decision I made that I am less than, you can say, I clear the original decision I made that others are less than. In addition, the following may be relevant: I clear the original decision I made to not let anyone get close to me. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that men/women are bad. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that men/women are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that racial minorities are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that children are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that the elderly are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that people with disabilities are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that people who are gay or lesbian are less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that any minority group is inherently less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that any member of any spiritual faith is inherently less than. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that anyone who is different from me is inherently less than. <cue>

Core Beliefs about the World I clear the original decision I made that the world is bad. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that the world is not safe. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that the world is evil. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that I am alone in the world. <cue>

36

I clear the original decision I made that I cant trust God/the universe to protect me. <cue>

Core Beliefs about Rules I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to be myself. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not okay to show feelings. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not okay to express feelings. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not okay to feel feelings. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to be happy. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that all good things must come to an end. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that we get what we deserve. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that there isnt enough to go around. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that you have to work very hard to get ahead. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that true love is only found in fairy tales. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to say no. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to say what I need. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not okay to ask for help. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to ask for help. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to feel good. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that its not safe to stand up for myself. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that life is not fair. <cue>

Following the core belief clearing, do the following clearing: I clear all of the ways that all of these decisions were being held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these decisions were being held in my energy field. <cue>

Finally, finish with steps 2 and 3: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these decisions. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

As you can see, the applications for core beliefs and the potential of tremendous benefits to yourself and the world if unhealthy beliefs are cleared are endless. You may also want to take the time to figure out what new core beliefs you would like to embrace to take the place of the ones you have cleared, and install them accordingly.

Chapter 9

Task Five Healing Your Relationships

Healing relationships with ZPoint is a very simple process that clears away the debris of past anger, resentment, disappointment, hatred and other negative emotions that are often expressed through our everyday relationships. In this chapter, you will learn how to heal and clear away those difficult feelings permanently and with surprisingly little effort or upset. Then, amazingly, you will find yourself able to hold only love in your heart, allowing you to move forward to experience tremendous personal growth, love and selfexpression. The result is that you will become peaceful about the relationship you were working on. Most people who have used ZPoint to heal relationships report that what previously got them upset just wasnt all that important any more. They were no longer bothered by the deep anger, resentment or whatever it was that had previously caused them pain or upset whenever they thought about that particular individual. Clearing a relationship with someone you love, such as a deceased parent, can bring perspective and loving acceptance while releasing any residual anger, guilt or upset. Clearing a relationship with someone you hate can bring peace, perspective and acceptance as well. While you may never choose to be around that person in the future, he or she will cease to be important in your life and in your thoughts.

Working with the Process

Decide on the relationship you wish to heal. Write down the name of the person you are working with. Make certain your subconscious knows exactly what you are clearing. On a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 represents no upset at all and 10 is the highest level of upset possible, how intense are your feelings associated with this relationship right now? After setting your intention to heal the relationship, say the following three statements. Remember to stay tuned in to your body for signs of release: I clear all of the ways that I feel anything less than love for [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue>

38

I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Check In: If, after completing the three steps, you dont feel completely peaceful toward the person you are working on, use the following steps: I clear all of the ways that I feel any anger toward [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I judge [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel critical toward [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I blame [name of person] for anything. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel shame in connection with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel resentment toward [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel guilt in connection with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel any fear toward [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I remain unforgiving toward [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the sadness I feel in relation to [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the worry I feel in relation to [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the anxiety I feel in relation to [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the loss I feel in relation to [name of person]. <cue>

Then do steps 2 and 3: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Roles Releasing What Doesnt Belong to You

We have a friend who believes that up to 80 percent of who we think we are is simply roles that we willingly assume from people with whom we interact every day. Most families have created roles for their members. For example, Mary is the smart one of the family. She is the one who is responsible and who works hard at everything she does. She is unselfish and uncomplaining about putting other family members needs before her own. Mary accepts this definition of herself willingly, because it gives her identity and security within the family. She may also extend that role to her work life and her relationship life. She may have assumed the role so completely that she cant imagine herself not responding to life and everyone in it in this way. And this may work well for her until she comes up against a situation that requires a different role. Then she may re-evaluate herself in relation to this role and decide that it is too limiting.

39

How often have you gone to a party and had someone asked you what you do for a living? When they say, Hi; what do you do? what they are really asking you is: What is your role in life? Are you a teacher, taking on the teacher role? Or are you a nurse, doctor or therapist, taking on the healer role? Perhaps you are a mother or a father and see yourself almost exclusively through the lens of this particular role. The more successful among us recognize these roles and allow themselves to assume more than one role at a time. The only problem is that we are more than the roles that weve decided to adopt. We are human beings, and at our core we rebel against assuming such limited definitions for ourselves. When we allow others to define us, we limit how we see ourselves. No one does this to us. We do it to ourselves. Life is about choices. When we limit our choices by mindlessly accepting the roles that others assign to us, we limit our ability to choose ways that will move us toward our own happiness. If you live in a box, sooner or later you will run up against one or all of the walls of that box. What if your happiness lies beyond the confines of that box? Therefore, please take the opportunity to clear all the ways that you have assumed unconsciously limited roles from your mother, your father, your sisters and brothers, your uncle and aunts, your grandmothers and grandfathers. Clear all of the ways that you are still connected to and expressing all of these roles in your life. When you do, you will begin to see your life in terms of who you are right now. Today. This moment. And from that perspective, seeing who you really are and recognizing what you really need to be happy frees you to be able to move boldly in that direction. Being happy is not a selfish act. And anyone who would tell you that you are being selfish for choosing your own happiness first is asking you to assume a role that is not your own. It may also be the case that you have assigned roles to others that are not in either of your best interests. For example, if you have assigned the role of caregiver to someone else, this may create concerns for them while also preventing you from taking as much care of yourself as you otherwise might. You can clear on the following by making make a list of everyone you may have assumed roles from or assigned roles to, plugging in their names or your relationship with them and doing the following steps: I clear all of the ways that I took on any roles that werent mine from [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I assigned any roles to [name of person] that were not hers/his. <cue>

40

I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Clearing the Relationship with Yourself

Clearing this relationship can have the most profound and lasting impact on your life. Your relationship with yourself affects virtually every aspect of your life, including your relationship with money and abundance. There is a direct correlation between how we feel about ourselves and how willing we are to allow ourselves joy, ease and financial security. The more we accept ourselves, the more good we will allow into our lives. Just clear the following: I clear all of the ways that I am angry with myself for anything. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I sit in judgment over my actions. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I criticize myself. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I blame myself for anything. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I am ashamed of anything Ive ever done. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I am guilty about anything Ive ever done or by omission refused to do. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I dont trust myself. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I seek to limit myself or limit my feelings. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel resentful toward anyone because of the choices Ive had to make in my life. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I fear my own power. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I wont forgive myself. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel responsible to others for anything. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I wont nurture myself. < cue> I clear all of the ways that I refuse to love and accept myself completely. <cue> I love myself. < cue> I love who I am. < cue> I accept myself fully and completely. < cue> I accept who I am. < cue> I accept my life completely. < cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

A Case Study
Grant had four sessions with a lovely woman of 60. To preserve her anonymity, well call her Jennifer. He tells her story:

41

I liked Jennifer as soon as I met her. She confided that hers was a difficult marriage, where she felt ignored and abandoned. Her husband was very successful in his field and had little time and patience for her. In fact, she felt that most of the people she knew treated her this way, including her 90-year-old mother-in-law, who was strongly disapproving of Jennifer. Her original reason for calling me was to get some help in her relationship with her husband, and for the first two sessions we focused on clearing these primary relationships in her life. We cleared her mother, father, children, mother-in-law (which took a fair amount of work) and, of course, her husband. We also worked on how these relationships made her feel about herself. We cleared the whole gamut of feelings and patterns, including anger, resentment, fear, being judgmental and unforgiveness. After the second session, Jennifer told me she saw a big improvement in the way her husband treated her. He seemed more attentive and had more patience for her point of view. She was thrilled. In the third session, we focused on relationships outside of Jennifers family circle. We cleared everyone for whom she felt anything less than love. And last, we began working on clearing her relationship with herself. We finished this in the fourth and final session. I followed up with Jennifer about a month after our last appointment. She told me that she was amazed at the changes in her life. She saw a major change in the way she felt about herself. Other than a brief time of upset, which we cleared with an impromptu session, she continued to feel peaceful, relaxed and loving. The relationship with her husband has continued to improve, and the changes she is experiencing are also being reflected in him. Jennifer says that her mother-in-law has remained the same, but Jennifer is no longer upset by her behaviour in the slightest way. One of the most amazing things I see, time after time, is that there appear to be invisible connections between people. These connections extend from one person to another and dont seem to be affected by time or distance. Jennifer told me that four of the people outside her family that we had cleared called her out of the blue just to talk to her, even though they had no idea what she was doing. Each of them spoke to her with kindness, respect and consideration. These are people who before the sessions wouldnt have had the time of day for her. She was astonished that clearing all of those feelings of less than love within her could affect each of those four individuals. But it did and in a very powerful way. This is a big change, and is well beyond the realm of coincidence. If you identify with Jennifer and would like to create positive change in your life, we can think of no better way of doing it than by sitting down and preparing a list of everyone for whom you feel anything less than love. Use the process and work your way though

42

that list. Then just sit back, relax and watch how your actions have affected everyone around you. You will be astounded! Here are some additional statements to help you work through conflicted relationships. These were provided by a member of the SharingZeroPoint list on Yahoo.com. You can use any that you feel are appropriate. I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a parent]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of family member]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of relatives/a relative]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a friend/ex-friend]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a workmate/ex-workmate]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of my boss/ex-boss]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of any person I have mixed feelings about]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a particular race]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a particular religion]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a particular political philosophy/party]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a particular profession]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a particular type of music]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate [name of a recurring problem behaviour]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate the world. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate life itself. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate hatred. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate love. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate relationships. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate myself. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I love and hate my life. <cue>

Then complete the ZPoint process by repeating steps 2 and 3, clearing patterns and emotions.

Chapter 10

Task Six Healing Past Experiences of Trauma

All of us have experienced trauma in some form or other at various points of our lives, though not everyone recognizes this. Frequently when people are asked about past traumas they will report that they have never experienced trauma. Most people, when they say this, are referring to what are known as big-T traumas.

Big-T Traumas
Big-T traumas are usually easily recognized by most people as being traumatic. Examples are experiences of physical or sexual abuse, war or kidnapping. However, even when speaking only of big-T traumas, it is clear from the statistics that many of us have experienced them. Although it is widely recognized that sexual violence tends to be vastly under-reported especially by men the prevalence is estimated at about one in three for women and one in five for men. If other forms of abuse, as well as other types of obvious big-T traumas motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, physical assaults and so on were factored in, these numbers would be much higher. Sometimes a trauma is experienced as a big-T trauma, but the individual doesnt recognize it as such because it was an event that isnt often socially recognized as being traumatic. One example of this is invasive medical testing or procedures. Such procedures regardless of how much they may be needed for health reasons, or the benevolent intent of the people providing them can lead to profound symptoms of trauma. This is particularly true for young children, especially if they arent adequately prepared and/or are given inaccurate information about what to expect. Later in life, symptoms of trauma may be evident even to the individuals themselves, but they may have difficulty in understanding or recognizing the origins of the difficulties. Many people who experience big-T traumas will go on to develop persistent symptoms of trauma. These may include hypervigilance, insomnia, avoidance of places, situations or material that are associated with the traumatic experiences, nightmares, insomnia, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts about the traumatic events and so forth. If certain criteria are met, the person may be considered to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). People who have experienced severe and repeated trauma, particularly in childhood, may also develop dissociative disorders. All of these difficulties may interfere with presentday relationships and feelings of general safety.

44

It is not at all unusual for people to experience even a severely traumatic incident and go for weeks, months or years before noticing any lasting symptoms as a result. Such symptoms may later suddenly emerge when the person encounters another stressful experience or reaches a different stage of life. Thats why its beneficial for you to process and resolve your past traumatic experiences, regardless of whether or not you are currently experiencing significant distress in relation to them.

Small-t Traumas
Whether or not we have personally encountered big-T traumas, we have all experienced what are known as small-t traumas. Small-t traumas may appear to be more seemingly minor events in childhood, such as getting lost, being called names on the playground, or being ignored or ridiculed rather than comforted when you are sick or upset. Small-t traumas sound less dramatic than the more obvious big-T traumas. However, left unprocessed, they can create areas of vulnerability that persist for a long time, causing difficulties such as low self-esteem and persistent feelings of aloneness, among other possibilities. In addition, these small-t traumas leave you at risk of being more seriously affected by big-T traumas if they do occur. In cases of childhood neglect, the continuous and repeated experiences of small t traumas can lead to profound symptoms of trauma, hopelessness and attachment difficulties even in the absence of big-T traumas. In situations where big-T and small-t traumas coexist, the resulting effects can be particularly severe, often encompassing all areas of the individuals life.

Dealing with Traumas

The extent to which each of us is affected by the traumas we have experienced depends on a variety of factors. Some examples include the number of traumas you experienced, the duration of the traumatic event(s), your perception of the intent by someone else to do harm, how old you were at the time it occurred or your perception of the event as being life-threatening (whether this is true in reality or not). For example, if you were to survive a terrorist activity, such as a bombing, you would go through many of the same experiences as someone who survived an earthquake property damage, risk of death or severe injury, loss of loved ones and so on. However, in the vast majority of cases, the person who has been exposed to terrorist activity will be far more likely to experience severe symptoms of trauma than the individual who lived through an earthquake, because the event occurred at the hands of someone intending harm rather than as part of a random natural disaster.

45

The Traditional Approach

Carol Ann has been providing counselling and psychotherapy in some form or other with survivors of trauma for the past 10 years. She was originally trained in the traditional talk therapy model. This involves taking someone through their traumatic memories, while attempting to keep them grounded in the present, and offering concrete information and emotional support in order to assist them in realizing that the traumatic events are over, were not their fault, and that they are now safe in the present. In Carol Anns experience, this did lead to clients feeling improvement. However, they usually began to feel significantly worse before they felt better, and healing from trauma was at best a very back-and-forth, slow and gradual process. The reasonable goal at that time was to assist people in better understanding and coping with their traumatic symptoms. It has now become increasingly recognized that talk therapy alone is insufficient in assisting people to fully recover from trauma. One reason is that much of trauma doesnt reside solely in the intellectual or emotional realms. Instead, much of the impact of trauma is stored on the physiological level. The bodily responses that occur in relation to past experiences of trauma are often outside of your conscious control, and so techniques that involve understanding and rationalizing yourself out of the response tend not to be particularly effective. The bodys natural responses to danger are fight, flight or freeze. If you have experienced significant trauma, you can become stuck in any one of these responses or in different ones at different times. Most commonly, people tend to get stuck in the freeze response, because in most situations involving trauma, fight or flight wasnt an option. A pervasive freeze response often exists in the forms of anxiety, fear and agoraphobia. We strongly encourage readers who are interested in further understanding the ways in which trauma affects the body physiologically and energetically to read Peter Levines book, Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma. In some cases, some of the trauma-focused talk therapy that has been done has unintentionally caused people to be re-traumatized, because they have been encouraged to discuss and relive their traumas without first having sufficient resources in place. In order to prevent re-traumatization, it is important that traumas be released and processed in a way that prevents the individual from experiencing intense upset. This understandably poses quite a challenge when dealing with traumatic memories that by nature are generally associated with extremely intense emotional and physiological reactions. An additional difficulty in traditional means of processing trauma through talk therapy involves the risk to the professional. Those working in the trauma field often are vicariously traumatized by the information they hear repeatedly in their day-to-day work. Counsellors and therapists may begin to experience some of the same symptoms that

46

their clients report, and find that their worldview and sense of personal safety become increasingly affected by the incidents that are shared with them. New Modalities Happily, many professionals no longer accept that living with the effects of trauma has to be a life sentence. Many treatment modalities are available now that assist clients in healing from their pasts more rapidly and thoroughly than ever before. Carol Anns personal and professional journey of realization that the outcome of trauma treatment can be much more hopeful than simply learning to cope began with her being trained in a technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR facilitates a more rapid resolution of trauma, and permeates to much deeper levels than talk therapy alone can ever hope to reach. Carol Ann and countless other professionals who work with trauma survivors have, with EMDR, acquired an incredibly powerful therapeutic tool that enables them to assist people in healing from their past, and in more easily attaining the improved quality of life that they desire and deserve. However, EMDR isnt an ideal approach for everyone. Particular care needs to be taken when working with clients who arent feeling stable in their coping, are dissociative6, are recently recovered from substance abuse problems and so on. Some element of risk is involved that individuals may experience emotional flooding with EMDR. Not every client will have this happen, but it isnt always possible to predict in advance which clients will, so it is necessary to ensure that people possess enough internal strength and external supports before beginning EMDR treatment. Furthermore, EMDR treatment requires the availability of a skilled EMDR-trained therapist, which isnt something that all people have access to. In Carol Anns own clinical practice, it isnt at all unusual for her to encounter individuals with severe histories of childhood abuse and neglect, and often corresponding experiences of severe dissociation, self-harming or suicidal behaviours, and/or substance abuse issues. It is our belief that, given that the traumatic experiences that have brought many of these individuals to seek treatment were so callous and harsh, it is important that they experience healing in a safe and non-threatening manner. Carol Anns search for modalities that would work rapidly, effectively and, most of all, gently and thus would be beneficial for any client she might encounter, led her to explore energy work. She was first introduced to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). This is yet another wonderfully effective method that assists people in rapidly processing their traumas, fears, phobias and other concerns. It is also a technique that most experience as being relatively gentle. The successes that Carol Ann personally experienced when using EFT, as well as those she witnessed her clients experiencing, led her to embrace and further explore the field of energy psychology.
Dissociation is a temporary or prolonged disruption in normal consciousness in which ones sense of identity, memory and/or perception of the environment may be altered or separated.
6

47

Carol Ann eventually obtained training in a variety of additional and equally wonderful energy psychology modalities, including Negative Affect Erasing Method (NAEM), Tapas Acupressure TechniqueSM (TATSM), Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Be Set Free Fast (BSFF). These modalities, and the responses she and her clients have experienced with the healing effects they create, have assisted Carol Ann in learning more about how the successful resolution of traumas and other difficulties can be attained. Each of these methods has contributed something remarkable to the field of energy work and to the field of psychotherapy in general. However, Carol Ann noticed that some clients still experienced intense feelings of overwhelm, even when using these modalities. Highly dissociative clients in particular tended, at times, to experience severe bodily abreactions7 when using even the gentlest of energy work techniques in specifically targeting their traumas, or even the symptoms created by the trauma. Furthermore, many of these modalities require identifying all of the various emotions, thoughts and behaviours surrounding the issue being targeted. Depending on the complexity of the issue being processed, and how well these aspects are hidden, this may be a fairly involved and time-consuming process. The need to tune in and connect with the incident in order to discover these hidden aspects, so that the treatment will be effective, also increases the risk that some feelings of overwhelm will be experienced during the processing. The ZPoint Difference One of the first things that struck Carol Ann when she first encountered ZPoint was how it enables individuals to work on their concerns from a distance. Rather than target a specific circumstance in which they would experience a symptom, rather than tuning into and ensuring they feel connected with the symptom and/or trauma in the present moment, and rather than having to identify all of the hidden aspects of the issue, ZPoint enables the person to target issues at the general level. This has wonderful benefits, because results then generalize to many areas of life even those in which they had not consciously been aware of experiencing difficulties. Whats more, the ability to work on issues from a distance has tremendous benefits for those who have experienced severe trauma and find that they either become intensely flooded and overwhelmed with emotion if they focus on it or, conversely, become completely blank and/or disconnected from the issue. It is often possible to avoid feeling anything worse than mild upset during the ZPoint Process, yet to experience profound and lasting healing.
An abreaction is a very severe form of flashback, during which individuals relive traumas emotionally, visually and often physically as if they are occurring in the present moment.
7

48

The need to work on a physiological as well as emotional, mental and spiritual levels, the need to avoid emotional flooding, the importance of enabling professionals to be available to survivors of trauma without becoming traumatized themselves, and the very complexity surrounding how traumatic material is stored, recalled and experienced, are all factors that make ZPoint an ideal technique for processing traumatic memories and the symptoms surrounding them.

Processing Traumas with ZPoint

One caveat before you begin to learn how to use ZPoint in targeting trauma: ZPoint promotes self-healing, and is experienced very gently in most cases. However, when severe, complex and/or childhood trauma is present or if you arent feeling stable in day-to-day coping we recommend that you consult a professional instead of working alone when targeting traumatic memories. Local rape crisis centres or other agencies that specialize in trauma are often able either to provide counselling (in some cases this may be at a low fee or free) or to refer to local practitioners with expertise in trauma. ZPoint is also very amenable to telephone sessions. It is particularly important to recognize that if you are barely coping, this is not the time to intentionally begin processing traumatic memories, especially in isolation. While ZPoint minimizes the amount of emotional flooding, it is still possible that some may be experienced. Furthermore, isolation is often a big part of the original trauma, and so it is extremely helpful and healing to have a supportive person to witness and facilitate the healing process. If you have experienced intense symptoms of trauma, it is best, when you use ZPoint at the beginning of your healing journey, it is best to start by processing symptoms apart from the traumatic incidents that have created them. For example, it would be ideal to first focus on using the main protocol for processing all of the ways in which you experience anxiety, terror, fear, feelings of being unsafe, the need to have control, etc. As part of this, it would be best to also use the protocol for processing relationship concerns. A good place to start would be to process all of the ways that anything less than love is felt for yourself or for different parts of yourself and for significant others in your current life. If addictions or other self-harming behaviours are present, you also need to address these, ideally before beginning to process traumas directly. You should build on feelings such as peace, calmness, safety, confidence and self-love before directly processing trauma. Frequently, clients will say they dont want to do this preliminary work first they want to go directly to the trauma and process that so that they can finally feel free of it. They often feel as if they have waited so long to let go of the trauma, this preliminary groundwork is delaying their healing work.

49

However, when trauma is not specifically focused on until you are feeling calm and stable in your coping, the entire process of healing often goes faster and far more smoothly. It is also possible with ZPoint that, after addressing all of the different symptoms you feel in your current life, the traumas will have been at least partially processed at the same time. Even when you focus on symptoms, ZPoint goes far beyond the surface level, and heals at the root level. As a result, major shifts will occur in how you view yourself in relation to your history, even if you havent yet specifically targeted your traumas. A Case Study One of the first clients Carol Ann used ZPoint with was a young woman we will call Julie. Carol Ann tells her story: Julie had recently been severely assaulted, physically and sexually, by her former partner, who was in jail awaiting a bail hearing when she and I first met. When I saw Julie after the first session, instead of reporting the expected experiences of hypervigilance, fear and insomnia, she stated that she was walking around feeling totally excited, getting to know the new me! Julie was still concerned that once her partner was released on bail, all of her new happy feelings would disappear when she knew he was back on the street. But she was astounded when they didnt. Although she remained appropriately conscious of safety issues, she simultaneously felt strong and secure in herself. As is typical of anyone who has been through significant and repeated trauma, Julie did have times where emotional upset arose as issues were set off by part of her feeling worried that something bad would happen if she were to allow herself to be totally happy. However, we used ZPoint together in order to target those concerns, and she progressed in a smooth and gentle forward motion. All of this occurred before even directly targeting the traumas Julie had been through. Instead, we worked on issues such as patterns of obsessive thoughts about her former partner, patterns of feeling guilty and patterns of feeling less than. Just two months after going through the horrendous circumstance that had brought her into counselling, Julie stated that she was happier than she had ever felt in her life before. As you do ZPoint clearing work in preparation for processing traumas, you will find that the symptoms you have struggled with are vastly improved, or sometimes even gone. It may seem counterintuitive that times of feeling safe and coping well in the present are the best times to process traumas. Instead, you may feel that you dont want to rock the

50

boat by then addressing the traumatic material directly. This is understandable. However, traumas left unprocessed leave an area of vulnerability. With ZPoint, in most cases fear of feeling worse again if traumas are directly targeted can be less of a concern. You can usually approach the traumatic incidents at this point and process them without experiencing undue upset in the moment. However, as with other techniques for healing trauma, it sometimes happens that as one area is healed, others that were hiding underneath it float to the surface, and need to be addressed. Sometimes it isnt until a day or a few days after a session that you will experience upset. If this occurs, it is important to keep going with the process. You can use ZPoint to target the feelings that have come up, to increase feelings of being safe, calm and secure, and to address other past events that may have arisen to the surface. One of the benefits of first clearing the upsetting emotions and symptoms that surround the original trauma before you target the trauma directly is that you will experience less upset as you work on the trauma. You will also feel more confident and secure in your ability to rapidly and gently heal whatever upset does arise. The Process In order to understand the wording of the first statement used when processing trauma directly, it is helpful to think in terms of decisions having been made at the time of the traumatic event. These decisions for example, that you are not safe, that you have no control, that there is no escape or that you are bad then led to the physiological responses that the body had at the time (and often holds onto and relives vividly and repeatedly well after the traumatic event has passed). They also led to the beliefs and patterns that then became prevalent in the psyche and go on to influence your thoughts, behaviours and feelings into the long term. With ZPoint it isnt necessary to know or understand all of these decisions the subconscious mind knows what they are and will clear them accordingly, when asked to do so. When targeting trauma, first check in by thinking of the traumatic incident and get a Subjective Units of Distress (SUDs) rating on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 represents no upset at all and 10 is the highest level of upset possible. This enables you to have some way of measuring how much relief has occurred. Then use the following statements to clear: I clear all the decisions I made when [name of the incident] occurred. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all the parts of me experienced this. <cue> I clear all of the ways that this incident has been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that this incident has been held in my energy field. <cue> I clear all aspects of this incident that I may not remember. <cue>

51

I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these decisions, ways and aspects. <cue> I clear all of the emotions and all of the meanings connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I allow all of this clearing to reach all the different parts of me. <cue> It happened, its over and I am safe now. <cue> It is safe for me to completely let go of all of my upset surrounding this event. <cue> I install new ways of feeling at peace with this incident. <cue> I install new ways of feeling at peace with myself in relation to this incident. <cue> All of this clearing is completely effective for all of the past, all of the present and all of the future. <cue>

Check In: Picture the traumatic incident. What is the SUDs at now? It is important to keep going with the processing until the SUDs drops to 0 and your body feels calm and relaxed. If you are still experiencing any upset or discomfort, you can continue by tuning into the residual emotions and/or body sensations and repeating the cue word to yourself. Another idea is to clear all of the decisions connected with all of the decisions I made when [name the incident] occurred. Again, even though you may have no idea what these decisions are, that is unimportant your subconscious mind will know and will clear them for you if asked to do so. If this incident doesnt feel entirely cleared, you can see what thoughts, feelings and emotions are still left in connection to it or if another, connected trauma is now surfacing that needs to be addressed and then use ZPoint on those aspects until the trauma feels completely cleared. As with other uses of the ZPoint Process, the goal is to continue until you feel completely peaceful and your body feels relaxed and free of any uncomfortable sensations. The beauty of clearing trauma is that space is then made inside for new possibilities. As you clear trauma, it is important to work on also installing new ways of being. You can use statements installing these new ways (for example, I install new ways of feeling safe in the world), or you can use positive affirmations (for example, I deserve good things), followed by your cue word.

When Multiple Traumas are Present

If you have experienced many traumas, clearing them and clearing issues in general might proceed more gradually. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, because it will allow you to gradually adjust to a new way of being. If you have been dealing with many issues 52

and suddenly they all drop off at once, this can provoke anxiety. People with significant trauma histories often have difficulties adjusting to change, because at times of trauma, the unknown led to frightening and unsafe experiences. The changes with ZPoint are healing changes that will help you to feel better and achieve the things you wish to, but parts of you may experience fear and uncertainty about this process. For this reason, gradual but steady changes may allow you the time to adjust to the new ways of being. If fears do arise about change, remember to use ZPoint to target these fears as you become aware of them. It isnt likely that processing will occur slowly by traditional standards not at all. It is simply that if you have had a single incident of trauma but otherwise had a good life, and most of your needs for safety and nurturing were met in childhood, you may be able to process your trauma in one or two sessions. However, if you have a complex trauma history, you may need numerous sessions, and could understandably need additional support in doing your healing work. You also might find that as you work on some traumas, others begin to become more intrusive in your thoughts than they were previously, and periods of feeling unsettled could occur. If this happens, you can use ZPoint to process the many feelings that are arising, and seek additional support if you need it. While there is no overnight cure for someone with a complex trauma history, ZPoint will allow you to work as rapidly and gently as possible, and you can choose to work on issues as frequently or infrequently as you wish. If you need or prefer to work together with a therapist, you can also choose to do healing work on your own between sessions. You have the control, and can set the pace of your work yourself. There are ways that you can try to accelerate healing when multiple traumas are present. Following the usual ZPoint premise that it is best to start at the general level, so that results will generalize as much as possible, one idea is to try targeting a group of traumas according to a category or perpetrator. This may or may not work in clearing them completely. However, it is worth a try, because it will certainly improve matters providing day-to-day stability is present and supportive resources are available if needed. One example of grouping traumas together would be, I clear all of the decisions I made all the times my mother emotionally abused me, or I clear all of the decisions I made all the times my mother physically abused me. After processing all of the steps, you can check inside and see how things are feeling, and when the time is right you can choose individual traumas to process as needed. You will know if they need to be processed, according to how you feel when you think about various incidents or when you encounter moments in which you would usually experience trauma symptoms. Notice what happens now when triggers are encountered celebrate the relief you experience, and make note of the areas that are left to work on.

53

There is no need to feel discouraged or bad about yourself if you discover more areas to work on or experience a resurgence of trauma symptoms or even new ones. It is quite natural, if you have had multiple traumas, to experience an ebb and flow with healing. You will make gains, and at times you will feel that the struggling and pain are over, only to later experience moments when you feel as though you are back at square one. This can be painfully disappointing. However, this is the psyches way of ensuring that maximum healing occurs. As hard as it can be at times, the resurgence of new or returned memories and symptoms can be a gift that points you in the next direction to take so that you can experience further healing. The nice thing is that you now have a technique that enables you to do this as gently as possible, and you can apply it any time and anywhere. While it will never be as though the traumas didnt occur, it is entirely possible to shift your perspective until your past traumas are simply one of many aspects of your life experience. They no longer have an emotional pull to them and no longer dominate your day-to-day life or identity. To use an analogy to computers, this shift is comparable to having the traumas no longer accessed through an icon that appears on your desktop, but rather stored on the hard drive in a files section that you only occasionally access.

Working with Parts of Self

A discussion of trauma would not be complete without reference being made to dissociation. Dissociation can be described as being in a state of emotional disconnect. Everyone dissociates some of the time. A common example of normal dissociation occurs frequently while driving. You are driving a car, lost in thought, and later realize you have missed your exit off the highway. You dont remember parts of the drive, but you must have been present and paying attention, because you havent had an accident. People who have been through repeated trauma, and especially trauma occurring in childhood, tend to dissociate more than those who havent had similar experiences. On the dissociative continuum, at one end is normal dissociation and at the opposite end is Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder. Between these two ends of the continuum is a whole range of dissociative experiences. We took careful consideration, in choosing the wording of the ZPoint installation, to specify that the effects of the cue word would reach all parts and aspects of our being. This was intentional, to help both highly dissociative and non-dissociative (or, more accurately, less dissociative) individuals experience the full benefits of ZPoint. Everyone has different parts of self, whether they are fully in awareness, partly in awareness or completely dissociated. It is very important that these parts of self be reached during ZPoint.

54

A Case Study Carol Ann describes one example of how ZPoint can be used with different parts of self: I have a client I will call Sarah. Sarah is a woman in her early 50s who experienced a sexual assault at the age of 16. Sarah doesnt have DID, but she does identify with the experience of having different part of self, particularly in relation to her trauma. As we work together, Sarah monitors her experience of the process and lets me know if particular statements didnt get through. She describes a barrier that goes up when certain statements are spoken. The first time this happened, we used the statements I clear all of the reasons that the 16-year-old feels she needs to put up a barrier and I clear all of the ways that part of me feels its not safe to heal this issue. Sarah appeared astonished as she explained that the barrier had immediately and gently parted in the middle. She then observed that the barrier opens wide for some statements, but just partially for others. Sometimes the barrier opens while the statement is being said; other times it only parts while she repeats her cue word. As we do healing work with this part of self and help her and the whole of Sarah feel better, we also use statements to bring them closer together. In addition to the usual statements clearing the relationship between Sarah and the 16-year-old, we use statements such as I clear all of the reasons the 16-year-old and I originally disconnected from each other, I allow myself to reconnect with the 16-year-old and I clear all of the ways the 16-year-old feels left back there. This assists Sarah in reconnecting with this valuable and essential part of herself, and also helps her in reconnecting with the present day, where she is now safe. Sarah has begun to experience deep love and compassion for this part of self, who she had previously felt rejecting towards. At the close of one of our sessions together, we used the statement I clear any mechanism or vulnerability within me that would allow any of these issues to return. Sarah laughed and, with a look of amazement, noted that the barrier had come back up again, but that she and the 16-year-old part of self were now together on the same side of the barrier, which was now protecting them from the possible return of any of the concerns they had resolved. If you are positioned at or toward the DID end of the continuum, you may find it helpful to teach ZPoint to your different parts, if they are interested in participating. This will ensure that all or as many parts as possible are using the technique and therefore have ready access to a way of helping themselves to feel better when needed. When you are working with different ego states dissociated or otherwise it is a good idea, in addition to the instructions given during installation of the cue word, to emphasize occasionally that the healing created with ZPoint will permeate all of the

55

different parts. If you are targeting issues and they arent clearing completely, it may also be beneficial to target those issues for the specific part that is most affected. For example, a statement might be, I clear all of the ways that this child part of me [using the parts name, if one is known] is feeling scared, I clear all of the decisions that this part made the time she got lost, and so on. If you often notice difficulty in clearing, then you may wish to add the phrase all parts of me to your ZPoint statements routinely (for example, I clear all of the ways that all parts of me are feeling anxious). Ideally, if you tend toward the DID end of the continuum (and this may also be helpful for anyone who is not especially dissociative), you will use the relationship protocol not only to target your relationship with yourself, but also to target the sub-relationships between individual parts of self. This will assist greatly in encouraging better internal cooperation and overall feelings of calmness and stability. One question that has occasionally arisen in Carol Anns work with dissociative individuals is whether it would be beneficial to use ZPoint to target the pattern of dissociation. Her feelings on this are very mixed. Dissociation is a powerful defense mechanism, and has a very important job in protecting the individual from feeling more than they are ready to feel and knowing more than they are ready to know. Therefore, it is wise to treat dissociation with a great deal of respect. If someone is highly dissociative and becomes easily flooded and overwhelmed if a great deal of emotion is experienced, there are obvious reasons that the dissociation may need to be left alone, and only approached gradually and carefully. If attempts were made to clear an overall pattern of dissociation using ZPoint before someone was ready to shift this, it is possible that some flooding could occur. Therefore, caution is warranted. Having said that, what if you are in the latter stages of healing from dissociation, feeling stable in your coping, and feeling certain that the level of dissociation has dramatically improved, and your dissociative tendencies are now more habitual rather than needed in order to function properly and feel safe? Now it may be safe to clear the residual effects of dissociation. Carol Ann has witnessed good results in this sort of situation. However, if you are attempting this, it would be advisable to first consult with a professional who is already known, trusted and well acquainted with you. You should also be very experienced with using ZPoint so that you can use it to do the necessary work to rapidly clear any feelings of overwhelm and/or new memories that may arise. Until such a time occurs, you can work on clearing the difficult emotions and traumatic memories surrounding the dissociation until you are feeling more settled. At that point, the dissociation should greatly recede on its own, without being targeted directly.

Releasing Connections to Those Who Have Harmed You

Carol Ann is frequently asked by clients who have experienced abuse whether they need to forgive their abusers. People who are struggling with harm that has been inflicted on

56

them by others often are told by well-meaning friends or family that they need to forgive. In answering this question, how forgiveness is defined is an important consideration. Too often, what people mean by this is that they should stop talking about or reacting to what happened, and should act as though the events didnt occur. Sometimes this includes the expectation that they continue to maintain a relationship with their abusers. Forgiveness is a very complicated and emotionally laden issue. Factors that affect matters of forgiveness include such things as the extent of the harm that was inflicted and the attitude of the person who caused the harm. It is far easier to forgive someone who has had one or a few incidents of unintentionally or thoughtlessly causing you harm, who takes full responsibility for their actions, make amends toward you and ceases to cause harm in the present. Many people may be able to more readily move toward forgiveness of such a person, even if the harm that occurred was significant. However, we often understandably have more difficulty with forgiveness when someone intentionally and repeatedly causes you harm, takes no responsibility for their behaviour or its effects on others and continues to harm you or others in the present. True forgiveness often comes at the latter stages of healing. It isnt possible to truly forgive someone for something if you are disconnected from the emotional reality of the incident or if you are unable to function as a result of the effects of the past event(s). Truly forgiving someone also doesnt necessarily mean that you dont talk about the past, are no longer affected by it or need to continue to have a relationship with that person. When someone has taken full responsibility for their actions and the impact they had, and when we have been able to forgive them, we should feel free to discuss it when needed so that each person can continue to work through the past event until it feels better. We also can forgive someone and choose to not allow them to be a part of our lives because they continue to cause us harm, or because we feel we can no longer trust them. We may eventually feel that we can see them in their humanness, have compassion for them and wish them well in their lives, but simply let go. Or, alternatively, we may be able to keep them in our lives. This is often a difficult and highly personal decision and is one that nobody has the right to make for anyone else. If forgiveness is a concept that resonates for you in relation to people who have hurt you, then by all means ZPoint can be used to facilitate it. You can use the usual protocol for clearing relationships (see Appendix C). If the idea of forgiveness doesnt appeal to you, you may wish to do whatever parts of the relationship protocol feel right to you. If it doesnt feel right to clear all of the ways I feel anything less than love for X, then another idea is to instead work on releasing all of the ways you are emotionally and energetically connected to those who have caused harm.

57

This doesnt necessarily mean that you will no longer care about them if they are people you love, or that you will necessarily stop having contact with them. Instead, you will feel more emotionally free and less tied to them in relation to the traumatic circumstances. If they no longer cause you harm in the present, you can then feel free to have a relationship with them that recognizes the past but is based on today. If they continue to do things that are hurtful, you may be able to feel less affected by this, whether or not you choose to keep them in your life. Here are some statements that may be useful in releasing unhelpful connections to those who have harmed you: I clear all of the ways that I am energetically connected to [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that thoughts of [name of person] have an emotional impact on me. <cue> I clear all of the ways that thoughts of [name of person] have an energetic impact on me. <cue> I clear all of the ways that thoughts of [name of person] have a physiological impact on me. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these ways have been held in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all of these ways have been held in my energy field. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue> All of this clearing is completely effective for all of the past, the present and the future. <cue>

In situations where you still encounter or may encounter the individual, you may want to add: I can now see [name of person] and keep my power. <cue> I am able to keep myself emotionally, physically and energetically safe if I see [name of person]. <cue>

Chapter 11

Task Seven Moving Beyond What You Dont Want

If you could get to the place where you no longer feel a need to push against anything that you disagree with, you would become in alignment with what you do agree with. Even within your own body, it is your pushing against those things you dont agree with that causes you to be out of alignment with what you do agree with. Abraham-Hicks8

It seems to be a law of life that whatever we focus our attention on tends to expand. This isnt a new idea, and it has been put forward many times over the centuries. Put simply, if you focus your attention on those things you dont want in your life, you will get more of them. In the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, this is called the Universal Law of Attraction. It states that we attract the essence of whatever we choose to give our attention to whether it is by focusing on what we want or by placing our attention on what we dont want. We often create our experience by default. If you dont want to be overweight, and you focus your attention on not being overweight, no matter what you do you will find yourself blocked from actually losing weight. Or you will lose the weight for a time and then gain it all back again. If you dont want to be poor, and you focus all of your attention on not being poor, just as fast as you save money in one hand it will trickle away from you from the other. If your focus is on not becoming sick, you will attract sickness. If your focus is on not becoming just like your mother, guess what? You will become just like your mother. Remembering that thoughts are things and that we get from life what we focus our attention on, if our thoughts are on the lack of something, we attract more of that lack. If our thoughts are on getting rid of something, we actually keep ourselves in bondage to whatever we seek to get rid of. You can know by the emotion you are feeling whether you are attracting or creating what you want or what you dont want. If you feel good, if you feel joyful, you will be creating what you want. However, if you feel fearful, angry or resentful, you can be assured you will be creating those things you dont want. Where is your attention focused at this moment?

Abraham is a group of entities channeled by a woman named Esther Hicks.

59

As the idea here is to focus on things that feel good, dont you suppose it would be a great idea to release those emotions where you dont feel good? What would happen if you did release them? Why, you would feel good, you would feel joyful. What would this attract into your life? How would the Law of Attraction work then? Most of this manual is focused on clearing away certain conditions, emotions or beliefs. In essence it is focused on releasing the feelings, patterns or conditions that you dont want. Once you release these emotions, you will quite naturally shift your focus. At this point it is extremely beneficial to focus your awareness on those things you really want from life.

An Exercise to Help You Move On with Life

So, you are now in a place where youve cleared away all of the emotional baggage that you carried around for years and years. You are acutely aware that the old life and the old patterns are finished, but you are now living in that in-between time when nothing seems to be happening. The first step is to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. This isnt always an easy thing. Think back to when you were a teenager, and remember what it felt like to look at your future as a thing of infinite possibilities. What were your dreams? What did you want to make of your life before children, mortgages, career(s), marriage(s) and so forth? Who did you want to become? What is it that you wish to attract into your life? This is a very important step, so take your time and really think about this. Whereas before, when you cleared the issues bothering you, you focused on what you didnt want in your life, now you will be placing your full attention on what you do want. To begin the process of manifesting your dreams into three-dimensional reality, here is the outline of a process that has proven to be incredibly effective in focusing intent and drawing the things you really want into your life. Step 1 Decide exactly what it is you want. If you dont know, use ZPoint to clear all of the ways that I dont know what I want or clear all of the ways that I wont let myself be clear about what I really want. If you go to the airport and dont have a particular destination in mind, chances are you wont get very far. Even worse, youll go in the wrong direction. Choose a definite direction. Decide on exactly where you wish to go. Step 2 Take a piece of paper and list on it everything you can about what it is you want. Be very specific. For example, if you wish to have a loving relationship, write down each and every quality youd like to see in the person youre seeking. Again, be as specific as possible. Remember: this is your wish list, so dare to ask for exactly what you want and decide on a time frame within which you want your hearts desire to manifest in your life.

60

Step 3 Read the list, and with every quality or every line of information, stop for 10 seconds and simply repeat your cue word to yourself. Then move on to the next specification and do the same thing. Do this for every item on your list. Then hold the entire document in your hand and repeat your cue word again for a further 20 seconds. This will indelibly imprint your intent upon your subconscious mind. Step 4 Put the list in a small jar. Then fill the jar two-thirds full of fresh water and seal it tightly. Write your due date the date when you want your hearts desire to have manifested itself legibly on the side of the jar. Step 5 Place your jar in your freezer and just leave it until the due date arrives. Chances are that by the time it does, your hearts desire will have arrived as well. There is symbolic meaning to this exercise. What you are doing is taking your intention your thoughts and immersing them in water. The water represents spirit. In freezing the water, you are slowing the vibrations down so that your implicit desires manifest in threedimensional reality. You are, in essence, symbolizing the solidification of this desire. The subconscious mind loves this kind of symbolism its akin to what occurs in our dream life. When you combine symbolism with ZPoint, its power will simply amaze you.

Chapter 12

Task Eight Treating Specific Life Challenges

In this chapter, we show you how to use ZPoint to deal with a few of the more common challenges that life puts in our path.

Physical Challenges
We all encounter certain challenges that force us to experience life in ways that we wouldnt experience it normally. Illness is one of those challenges. If you have an illness, think about the differences between your life now and before you became ill. What are these differences? What are your fears? Sit down and list them all. For example, a fear could be that you are afraid that you will never get well. What would happen to you if you couldnt get well? Would you be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of your life? Would you need to be taken care of by others? Who will look after you? If you got well, would that relationship change? How does this make you feel? These are some of the fears you might be facing. This is worth repeating, because it is very important: challenges such as physical illness force us to experience life differently than we would have had we not gotten sick. Look at those differences and write down how they make you feel. Then create statements based on the ways you feel these feelings and systematically clear them. The idea here is that if you clear all of the ways you are afraid to be dependent on others, you will clear at least part of the need to be ill in the first place. Remember that there are usually multiple needs being served by a particular illness, so you will have to clear all of the ways that you resist experiencing various aspects of it. It boils down to clearing all of the ways you resist being ill. When we resist anything, we set up an energy dynamic that attracts more of the same. The Law of Attraction states that we manifest whatever we focus our awareness on. When we are ill, our focus is always on being ill and getting well. If we shift our focus to thoughts of wellbeing, we will get well because our point of focus has shifted. However, to allow this shift, we need to clear all of the emotions that anchor our awareness to thoughts of being ill or thoughts of the need to get well. If this clearing isnt done first, when you attempt to manifest good health, mixed in with the energy you are sending will be thoughts of But what if I dont

62

really deserve it?, Who am I to ask for this? and This will never work for me. The results you get will therefore be quite limited. If a person could only think thoughts of being healthy and vibrant, any illness would quickly disappear. We can use ZPoint to clear every emotion that ties our thoughts to thinking about ourselves as being ill. When we do this, we can then easily shift to thoughts of wellness and health. This in turn will attract the wellness and wellbeing we are focused on. After you have cleared the emotions that were anchoring you to thoughts that assisted you in maintaining a state of unwellness, you can further strengthen this process by doing positive affirmations focused on what you wish to attract. For example: My body is restored to perfect physical health. <cue> I am filled with vibrant energy. <cue> I install new ways of feeling relaxed and free of pain. <cue>

Releasing the Fear of Public Speaking

The fear of public speaking is one of the most common and at the same time most debilitating phobias. Most of us have experienced the physical manifestations of this phobia increased heart rate, constricted breathing, sweaty palms and an inability to look our audience in the eyes. Being able to overcome these feelings and speak to groups, whether large or small, is often what separates successful people from unsuccessful ones. The specific feelings we need to release are those dealing with a reluctance to put ourselves out there, to shine, to stand out. It isnt necessary to know why we have this behaviour; it is only necessary to be able to release it. So lets define the feelings and the behaviour they generate. First, you feel embarrassed at being the centre of attention. So you will clear all of the ways this feeling is manifested in your life: I clear all of the ways that I feel embarrassed when speaking in front of others. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hate being the centre of attention. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I avoid being the centre of attention. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I avoid looking foolish. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel I look foolish when I speak up. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am certain I will make a fool of myself when I speak publicly. <cue>

Pay attention to how you are feeling. Pay attention to the thoughts running through your mind. If other ways occur to you at this point, write them down and include them in this list. 63

To continue: I clear all of the ways that I feel this tightness in my chest. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel this tightness around my throat. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel this tight band across my chest. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel these butterflies in my stomach. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel these sweaty palms. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel like throwing up. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I imagine myself making a fool of myself. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I imagine everyone laughing at me. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I imagine everyone feeling embarrassed for me. <cue>

Again, pay attention to how your body is feeling at this point. Has your breathing relaxed? Continue to pay attention to your thoughts and add any ways that seem appropriate and personal to you. I clear all of the ways that my body stores these feelings of embarrassment. <cue> I clear all of the ways that these feelings of embarrassment are stored in my energy field. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ive assigned meanings to looks, glances, feelings and imaginings from myself and others dealing with my embarrassment about speaking in front of others. <cue>

Finally: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Healing Love Pain

Sophie Merle, one of the members of the SharingZeroPoint list on Yahoo.com, developed the following procedure for healing love pain with ZPoint. Begin by tapping the karate chop point9 and saying the following: Even though its apparently not possible for me to be loved by [name of person], and even though Ive tried my best and it didnt work, and even though it hurts so much and I may never recover from this pain, and even

If you turn you hand to make a karate chop motion, this point is on the outer edge of the hand, just below the bottom knuckle at the base of the baby finger.

64

though I may be getting something out of holding onto my pain, I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself and I forgive myself completely. Now do a ZPoint clearing, using any of the following statements that are appropriate for your situation: I clear the original decision I made that I am not worth loving. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that love hurts. <cue> I clear the original decision I made that it is not safe for me to be loved. <cue> I clear all of the reasons my needs for love are never met. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I need to experience rejection. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I need to be abandoned. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I need to stay alone. <cue> I clear all of the reasons my relationship with [name of person] didnt work. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I dont understand what happened. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ill never recover from this relationship with [name of person] <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ill never again find someone as wonderful as [name of person] <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ill never love again. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I wasnt enough in this relationship with [name of person] <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ive been abused in this relationship with [name of person] <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let [name of person] take advantage of me. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ive been lied to. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ive been deceived. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Im profoundly disappointed. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my dream life with [name of person] is on hold or will never happen. <cue> I clear all of the ways that Ill never be sexually fulfilled again. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am so unhappy. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am obsessed with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I cant accept this break-up with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that my life is empty without [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hurt so much now that [name of person] is gone. <cue> I clear all of the reasons I needed to experience this break-up with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I benefited from this break-up with [name of person]. <cue> 65

I clear all of the ways that Im enjoying my pain and suffering. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I played a huge part in this break-up with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I sabotage each one of my love relationships. <cue> I clear all of my reasons for sabotaging this relationship with [name of person]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I didnt see it coming. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I fear losing my freedom when I am in a relationship. <cue> I clear all of the ways that there is no room for someone else in my life. <cue> I clear all of the ways that sex matters most in my relationships. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I fear change. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let [name of person] hold the key to my fulfillment. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I let [name of person] hold the key to my joy and happiness. <cue>

Close the clearing with the following statements: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways, reasons, decisions and issues. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Now do the following installation: I have now cleared and healed all of the roots of my love pain for [name of person]. <cue> Whatever happens now with [name of person] is for our highest good. <cue> No matter what, this relationship with [name of person] has been a blessing in my life. <cue> I am willing to love again fully and completely. <cue> I dont need to be perfect to be loved. <cue> I accept being loved and cherished exactly the way I am, with all of my shortcomings. <cue> All the losses Ive suffered because of my relationship with [name of person] are given back to me a thousand fold in the most rapid, joyful and fulfilling ways. <cue> I am now ready to live in peace and joy no matter what happens next in my love life. <cue> I am a wonderful person in all aspects of my being. <cue> So be it, and so it is! <cue>

66

Clearing Procrastination
Procrastination is an umbrella for a number of self-destructive or self-sabotaging behaviours. Twenty percent of the population identify themselves as procrastinators, so you have a one in five chance of being one as well. You know you are a procrastinator when you are constantly late for meetings or appointments, you forget to pay your bills on time even though you have the means to do so, you file your income tax late or you keep putting things off until the pressure becomes unbearable. The main rule of the procrastinator is, Why do today what can be put off until tomorrow? To delete this maladaptive behaviour, clear the following statements. As you proceed through the list, pay attention to your body for physical sensations and clear these as they arise. Also be alert for thoughts that pop up from the subconscious, indicating deeper aspects of the issue. Create statements and clear these as they arise. I clear all of the ways that I have difficulty making good decisions. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I resist making decisions. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hate making decisions. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am afraid of making decisions. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I need to rebel. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I avoid the status quo. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I hide from myself. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I avoid facing difficulties. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am afraid of succeeding. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am afraid of moving on with my life. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I get something out of not succeeding. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I stop myself from moving forward. <cue> I clear all the ways/reasons I am afraid of failing. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I sabotage myself intentionally. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I sabotage myself unconsciously. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I see myself as a failure. <cue> I clear all the ways/reasons I am afraid to step into my own power. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I need to be perfect. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I am afraid of making mistakes. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I have unreasonable expectations about my performance. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I seek to avoid making mistakes. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I carry this fear of making mistakes in my body. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I carry this fear of making mistakes in my energy field. <cue> I clear all the ways/reasons I am afraid to set goals. <cue>

Long-Term Change The Simple Way

One of the list members from the SharingZeroPoint group on Yahoo.com suggested that we tend to make the application of the ZPoint process far too complicated. He prefers The Simple Way, which follows. He recommends taking a few minutes each day and going through the protocol. Because it is so simple, it is fast and easy to do, yet many have reported very positive changes because of it. We suggest you try it every day for a week, a month or even a year and see how it works for you. It shouldnt take more than five minutes. I clear all of the ways that I am psychologically or energetically reversed. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel less than love for anyone including myself and God [the creator, the universe, life, etc.]. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I have any health challenges. <cue> I clear all of the ways that these health challenges are stored in my body and my energy field. <cue> I clear all of the ways that I feel anything less than love for money. <cue>

Chapter 13

Using ZPoint with Children

Children are wonderfully easy to work with, using ZPoint. No installation program is particularly needed with younger children we simply ask them to choose a magic word, and tell them that when they are upset, angry or afraid, this word will help them to feel much better.

A Case Study
One SharingZeroPoint list member posted the following experience about using ZPoint with her own child: I suggested to my seven-year-old daughter that she use her magic word to help her sad, scared or mad feelings get smaller. That was the whole installation and whole instruction. Her teachers had talked to me during her parent/teacher interview, saying that she wouldnt participate in class. This has been an ongoing issue in junior kindergarten the teacher never heard her speak until a month before the end of the school year. She has always been very shy in a fearful kind of way. After I told her to use her magic word and no other instructions given she came home the next week with a note from her teacher every single day saying that she was suddenly raising her hand and answering questions and participating meaningfully. This was two months ago and when I saw her teacher last week she confirmed that she has continued to participate regularly and easily in class.

Chapter 14

Combining ZPoint with Other Modalities

ZPoint, in combination with other modalities, can bring about profound results.

Combining ZPoint with Energy Medicine

The statements used for homolateral energy, triple warmer meridian and energy grid clearing are examples of how ZPoint can be combined easily with energy medicine. While there is no reason to stop physically doing energy medicine exercises if you find them helpful, at times it may not be practical to do them. In those situations, you can come up with ZPoint statements to create the same effects without actually physically doing the exercises.

Combining ZPoint with EMDR

In her clinical practice, Carol Ann sometimes combines Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatments with ZPoint. She explains: Generally speaking, I introduce ZPoint to most clients within the first or second session, depending on the situation. ZPoint is then used to deal with their most pressing concerns and to work on enhancing coping and stabilization. When we come to the stage of treatment where trauma is processed, I generally prefer to use ZPoint for this as well because it tends to proceed more gently than EMDR for some individuals. However, I present to clients the range of tools I can offer them. Most prefer to continue with ZPoint, because they find that it works well for them and is easy and comfortable to use. For various reasons, though, some clients come in specifically requesting EMDR, or sometimes I feel that combining both modalities is ideal. In doing this, I follow the usual EMDR protocol. However, during moments where processing seems stuck, I will suggest to clients that they use their cue word as they notice what is coming up for them during the EMDR processing. This generally helps to accelerate their processing and soften and rapidly move through any emotion that is being experienced. Another idea for practitioners who are trained in both ZPoint and EMDR is to proceed with ZPoint as usual, but introduce a bilateral statement at the same time (this may be easiest when auditory bilateral stimulation is used the client simply wears the headset during the treatment and listens to bilateral auditory tones during the ZPoint session). 74

Alternatively, the bilateral stimulation may be reserved for those times when difficulty is encountered in completely clearing an issue and neither the client nor the practitioner is able to figure out what is blocking the process. Then it may be useful to introduce some sets of bilateral stimulation or to stop and do a focused EMDR session on the remaining upset until the issue feels completely cleared. The introduction of bilateral stimulation may assist the client in obtaining insight and in further shifting their area of concern.

Using ZPoint with TAT Statements

Tapas Accupressure Technique (TAT) is another energy therapy that can be incorporated into the ZPoint Process. A user of ZPoint has told us of experiencing great results when using ZPoint with TAT-type statements. Here is an example, using the seven TAT statements: Step 1: I clear all of the ways that the traumatic event happened. <cue> Step 2: I clear all of the ways that the traumatic event happened, and Im okay. <cue> Step 3: I clear all of the origins of this problem. <cue> Step 4: I clear all of the ways and all of the places in my mind, body and life where this has been a problem/resonated/been held/been stuck. <cue> Step 5: I clear of all the parts of me that got something out of having this problem. <cue> Step 6: I forgive everyone I blamed for this problem, including God and myself. <cue> Step 7: I ask forgiveness of everyone I hurt because of this problem. <cue> And finally: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

75

Combining ZPoint with Bodywork Modalities

ZPoint can also be easily combined with bodywork modalities. Use statements regarding pain, misalignment, bodily stored trauma, issues or upset before or during bodywork treatments. You can do this together with the practitioner who is providing the bodywork treatment, or you can do it silently, even if the practitioner is unaware of it. One person on the ZPoint list describes the experience she had in combining ZPoint with Reiki treatments: Ever since the very first craniosacral treatment I received, my right shoulder would jerk uncontrollably during the treatment, any time I deeply relaxed. It is beyond my conscious control even if I have fallen asleep it will happen, and wake me up. The same thing happens during Reiki treatments, or occasionally during other periods of relaxation. Various suggestions have been offered to me regarding the reason for this. I have been told that it is a sign that a lot of energy is shifting, that I have a nerve problem, or that it is part of me rejecting the treatment. I suspect it is the latter, as I do find that it makes it very difficult to relax and to fully receive, which has always been challenging for me in general. The first Reiki treatment I had after learning ZPoint, it occurred to me that I could use ZPoint to help with this issue. During the treatment, any time I felt pressure building and a sense that my shoulder was going to start acting up, I either used my cue word alone or said positive affirmations such as its safe to receive and my body is completely relaxed, followed by the cue word. That was the first treatment I ever had where I was able to completely and deeply relax. Since then, the problem is about 95 percent better. The shoulder only rarely actually starts twitching. Occasionally I feel it thinking of moving and then I focus on my cue word again and it usually settles right away. You can also use ZPoint after a bodywork treatment, to deal with any emotional or physical issues that have arisen as a result of the treatment.

Stories from ZPoint Users

As the number of people using ZPoint continues to grow, more and more stories are coming back to us about how lives are being changed. Here are a few of these stories, sent to us from members of the SharingZeroPoint list at Yahoo.com.

A Sense of Peacefulness
Until ZPoint, TAT was my favorite of the energy psychology methods, although Ive used and still benefit from so many of them. I now find myself ZPoint-ing everything, because a) it WORKS! and b) it can be used in the moment as well as in lovely, dedicated sessions on my own. Sometimes I even use the TAT format (I clear all the origins, etc.). And what Ive found in just the few weeks Ive been using ZPoint is such a rapidly expanding sense of peacefulness that Im amazed. I often question instant aha experiences, as they so often in my field do NOT lead to actual change, but since ZPoint I find Im actually, really less reactive to many of the stressors both around me/in my life and within me. Just less reactive in general, more centered and grounded in my Self. Youve used the word peaceful a number of times in the work, and I find thats just the right word to describe what I feel, or can get to in ways that are both quiet and effortless. I often do not use any installation procedure... it feels to me as if my own true essence of Love and Spirit expands to fill the space now available. Who knew? (Well, obviously, you did.) And Divine Guidance is easier to hear and to trust when my personality-self is softened. N.

Keeping ZPoint Simple

I have been a member of the group for nearly two months. I have read virtually all the messages from 1-900. I have also read the views of various experts in field of energy therapy. I live in India, have been doing regular meditation for now 5-6 years. Last year, 2003, I learned Reiki and EFT. Since no proper teacher of BSFF or TAT was available here in India I learned them through the Internet.

77

Now I have also learned ZPP through the Internet only. I feel that this is the simplest and the fastest process. I have been practicing this with regularity. I feel that too many things are being mixed up with ZPP like energy grid, triple warmer, chakra system, etc. I personally feel that if we mix too many things with ZPP it would lose its effectiveness. Subconscious is an extension of God in us. Since God is simple the ways to find Him should also be simple. There can be requirement of a human being at four levels: 1. 2. 3. 4. Soul level (spiritual) Mental (relating to mind) Physical (relating to body parts) Material (relating to money and physical possessions)

Love is the fundamental of spirituality. If I can love myself, everyone and God unconditionally then there is no need to do anything as then we have achieved God Himself. Thus to take care of this I simply do the following clearing: I clear all of the ways that I feel less than love for anyone including myself, Master (spiritual guru) and God. <cue>

Next do steps 2 and 3 and then the installation: I am filled with love for everybody including myself, Master and God.<cue>

Here I want to emphasize that really there is no need to clear relationships with specific individuals. If done regularly all the emotions other than love for everyone are automatically erased. Possibly because we are so much impressed by the ASPECTS of EFT that we think of clearing as minute levels whereas ZPP takes care of all the levels automatically. After having done the above process for a few days, now I have lost the capacity to be prejudiced towards any such person who has ever hurt me in the past. While clearing several faces will come and go. We have to allow that to happen without getting stuck to any particular individual. As far as the mental level is concerned I do not do much but I feel that once we are filled with love towards everyone there cannot be any mental or emotional problem left. As far as physical problems are concerned also general intentions like below is enough: I clear all of the ways that I have health problems. <cue>

Then do steps 2 and 3, followed by the installation: I am having perfect health. <cue>

78

As a matter of fact, when we leave the subconscious mind to solve the health problems, it solves the problems that are most crucial for us first. I feel the energy flowing automatically in the areas where there is pain. As I have seen on the [SharingZeroPoint list] posts, health problems do take time but they are surely and definitely cleared. Now coming to the material or the money part, it is enough to clear our relationship with money. I simply do following: I clear all of the ways that I feel anything less than love for money. <cue>

Follow with steps 2 and 3 then this installation: Money is flowing in millions (or thousands) to me. I am enjoying it while receiving, spending, investing and donating it. <cue>

This is enough to clear all your money worries and your envy or any negative emotion towards rich people. Believe me, if done regularly the flow of money towards you would be so quick and rapid that you would forget that you ever had any shortage of money. Abhay from India

ZPoint and an Allergy

I posted not too long ago about how ZPoint helped me with an allergy to perfumes. Well, I wised up and decided if it would work in an acute situation, it would work with general application, so I did ZPoint one day on all scents and perfumes. I hadnt had a chance to test it though, because our house is free of any of that kind of stuff. Yesterday, at a restaurant, I went into the ladies room and they were blowing air freshener into it. I usually have a bad reaction to it, but (drum roll, please)... NOTHING happened! Well, except that I couldnt wait to get away from the awful artificial smell. I didnt get reversed or choke up or wheeze or anything. Love, love, loving it!!!! Harmony

A Huge Weight is Lifted

I too would like to express my gratitude [in relation to a teleconference class on grid clearing and releasing sacred contracts]. I was able to feel some very significant shifts in my body. I have been in this wheelchair for a LONG TIME, 3.5+ years, and my sense is that I will be able to be out soon. I feel that all of this is due to some, a LOT of contracts that I had agreed to take on with others. Your statements in regard to clearing those old contracts made me feel a huge weight off my shoulders AND the tightness across my solar plexus, 3rd chakra, has disappeared. I too very highly recommend this teleconference as well as the Stepping into Your Power teleconference. This is very important, very powerful work and I thank both of you. I feel as if I have been given a very powerful gift. It is going to be so much easier to move forward with my life. Gina

ZPoint Results in a Dramatic Shift

I have been a healer/facilitator for 20+ years. I have worked with doctors, veterinarians, chiropractors, midwives, therapists and their clients and have studied and practiced many healing modalities. I have also had my share of trauma, and as a result of some of that trauma and my sensitivity, I made some decisions, conscious and otherwise, to disown my natural and trained gifts and skills. Of course this is not unique to me or all that unusual; nevertheless it has been very painful to cut myself off from such vital parts of myself. I have used practically every energy modality and therapy that I have found, both doing it with myself and with other practitioners and therapists. I must acknowledge that all of the ways that I have worked on myself and with the assistance of others have had an enormous impact on my life. Yet it has not been until I started using ZPoint that I have experienced such a dramatic shift in the way I experience myself from the core of my being once again. I feel connected to myself in exhilarating new ways and in ways that I have such joy remembering. I find all of my gifts and skills are not only intact but also dramatically enhanced. I can only say that I am extremely grateful to everyone on this list for all of their caring energy which I too have felt very connected with. I am also very grateful for the way that Divine Intelligence shines thru Grant as the creator of this process and Carol Ann as his very loving and skilled cohort Much love to all. Jill

Falling Asleep Easily

I saw someones post on the ZPoint list and realized something: as she was talking about doing ZPoint to help her quiet her mind to go to sleep, I realized that I had been falling asleep quickly for quite a while now. I tended to stay up late and never felt sleepy. Going to sleep wasnt easy; my mind was too hard to shut down. So to my delight, I realize that this has totally shifted and I never did any direct ZPoint statements for this issue. I never even thought of ZPoint-ing it or I would have! I have been doing ZPoint Grants way for about 2 months. I had a cue word that I used in my prayer before that. So I think that is why ZPoint resonates so much with me. The one thing that is so unique about ZPoint is that just doing it (making mental clearing statements is all it actually is) allows your body/mind/spirit to begin to access and shift areas that you didnt directly clear. Like just having the faith and taking the step to choose a good thing, is all it really takes to make healing happen. Yes, I consider getting to sleep easier a healing. It is a wonderful feeling especially for those of us that tend to take too much responsibility for everything. I am so much more peaceful and dont react nearly as much, though I havent earned my wings yet! I also found that I was truly at zero point in a severe, recent trauma. My hubby kept noticing and commenting that I was showing grace & patience. I actually didnt ZPoint any of it at the time. I just allowed it all to be and deeply accepted my feelings and just was silent. So this is huge for me. This was the first time that I actually felt the zero point, that point of neutrality that allows you to choose the best possible outcome, feeling, thought and choice. Best of all the trauma I went through was not stored. I tend to be so sensitive, not in the feelings hurt kind of way but just have such ideals, etc., that makes life hard for me, or I should say I make it hard for myself. This is a deep part that stores so much stress and trauma. I didnt go there this time! YAH! I noticed it and explored the feeling of freedom and peacefulness in spite of the outward turmoil. Jolene

ZPoint and Joy

I am so grateful for the joy that I am able to share in my relationships now as a result of ZPoint, and I am just beginning! Sue

Appendix A: The Original ZPoint Process

The ZPoint Process has been evolving rapidly from its birth, and we continue to refine the process and tighten it up to make it even more powerful and effective. The original version is longer and more complex than what we usually work with today. However, some people find that they still prefer to use that version occasionally especially if they arent getting the desired results with the streamlined ZPoint Process. For that reason, we are including it here.

Terms Used in the Process

Master pattern: The master pattern is the particular pattern you are working on. It sits atop an energy pyramid or container that includes similar patterns, connected patterns, roots, etc. For example, if you were clearing the pattern of abandonment, Abandonment would be the master pattern. Connected and/or like patterns: Remembering that our goal is to delete or clear anything that may anchor the master pattern in place, we clear any patterns that are connected in any way to both the master pattern and any like or similar patterns. Because we have no need to know precisely what these are, we can simply instruct the subconscious to clear these as required Self-agreements: These are agreements we make with ourselves during an emotionally charged period. For example, you are in a situation that causes intense emotional pain and make a vow that youll never do that again. Agreements like this are quickly forgotten by the conscious mind but are still fully in force within our subconscious. Unforgiveness toward others: To completely release the master pattern, we clear all of the anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame, resentment and unforgiveness we hold toward anyone (including God) for any act or thought we believe may have harmed us, as it relates to the master pattern being cleared. This is a very important category to clear. Quite often people will hold resentment and unforgiveness toward others and need to release this before they will allow themselves to move on. Unforgiveness toward ourselves: Next we clear any anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame and unforgiveness we hold toward ourselves as it relates to the master pattern being cleared. Patterns that are held or expressed through the body or the energy field: Quite often patterns are held or expressed through the body or the energy field. Examples of this would include most physical illnesses that have their beginnings as habitual patterns of thought.

82

Clearing the back-up or failsafe mechanism: There appears to be a mechanism that reestablishes patterns if this particular vulnerability is not cleared. Similar to a back-up hard drive on a computer system, this failsafe must be cleared to prevent the original pattern from being re-installed or brought back.

The Clearing Process

The clearing process begins by defining the master pattern you wish to remove. Be as broad as possible when doing this. Write it down. Make certain your subconscious knows exactly what you are clearing. On a scale of 0 to 10, how intense are the feelings associated with the pattern right now? As you go through the following instructions to the subconscious, say each instruction aloud or in your mind and then just concentrate on your cue word(s), repeating it softly over and over to yourself. Remember to stay tuned in to your body for signs of release. 1. I set my intent to completely clear the master pattern of at every level of my being. 2. I clear all of the self-agreements holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 3. I clear all of the unfinished business holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 4. I clear any unknown factors holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 5. I clear any and all roots holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 6. I clear any and all patterns connected to or similar in any way to the master pattern of and do so at every level of my being <cue> 7. I clear all of the anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame, resentment or unforgiveness directed toward anyone (including God) holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 8. I clear all of the anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame or unforgiveness directed toward myself holding the master pattern of in place and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 9. I clear this master pattern and all of the patterns related to this master pattern being held in my body and/or energy field. <cue> 83

10. I clear any mechanism or vulnerability within me that would allow the master pattern of to return and do so at every level of my being. <cue> 11. I install the master pattern of to overwrite and replace the pattern and install any self-agreements, unfinished business, unknown factors, roots and similar/connected patterns necessary to support the pattern being installed. <cue> Check In: How peaceful are you feeling right now? If you arent feeling completely peaceful, go through the process again if necessary, and/or apply the drill-down technique10 for residual feelings and/or check for related patterns you havent addressed.

10

Focus on any remaining emotion or body sensation, then breathe deeply while you think the cue word. Continue doing this until you feel peaceful.

84

Appendix B: ZPoint on a Page

The Installation Program The installation program itself need only be read once. After youve read it to yourself, you will never need to refer to it again. Choose a cue word. This can be any word as long as it doesnt have strong emotional connotations to it. If you cant think of a word, use shazam. Now, having chosen a cue word or phrase, read the instructions below, aloud if possible: I hereby set a powerful intention within you, my subconscious mind, to effect the best of all possible outcomes by this clearing, and that each time I notice a pattern or patterns I wish to eliminate, as I say or think my cue word, you will eliminate all such patterns and components of patterns completely and safely. Each time I repeat my cue word in sequence, you will access deeper and deeper layers and all parts and aspects of my being. The ZPoint Process The process itself is quite simple. Just focus on an area where you are having difficulty and say the following statements to yourself. At the end of each statement, repeat your cue word for about 30 seconds, as if youre saying a mantra. 1. I clear all of the ways* that I [feel depressed, angry, resentful, etc.] <cue> 2. I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> 3. I clear all of the emotions** connected to all of these patterns. <cue> *If appropriate, you can substitute the word reasons for ways. **All emotions always include any anger, judgment, criticism, blame, shame, guilt, resentment, fear and unforgiveness directed toward yourself or anyone else, including God. (This too need only be read once and your subconscious will always remember it for you.) ZPoint can be used to improve relationships, increase self-esteem, heal emotional trauma, etc. If you are clearing relationships and the strong feelings they can generate, replace Step 1 with I clear all of the ways that I feel anything less than love for [myself, my significant other, my boss, etc.].

Appendix C: Protocol for Clearing Relationships

Decide on the relationship you would like to heal. Write down the name of the person you are working with. Make certain your subconscious knows exactly what you are clearing. On a scale of 0 to 10, how intense are the feelings associated with this relationship right now? Step 1. I clear all the ways that I feel anything less than love for [name of person]. <cue> Step 2. I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> Step 3. I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue> Check In: If, after completing the above, you don't feel completely peaceful toward the person you are working on, use the following statements: I clear all of the ways that I feel any anger toward [name of person]. <cue>

Then repeat steps 2 and 3: I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these ways. <cue> I clear all of the emotions connected to all of these patterns. <cue>

Appendix D: Protocol for Clearing Traumas

When youre targeting trauma, first check in by thinking of the traumatic incident and get a Subjective Units of Distress (SUDs) rating, on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 represents no upset at all and 10 is the highest level of upset possible. This enables you to have some way of measuring how much relief has occurred. I clear all the decisions I made when [name of incident] occurred. <cue> I clear all of the ways that all the parts of me experienced this. <cue> I clear all the ways that this incident has been held in my body. <cue> I clear all the ways that this incident has been being held in my energy field. <cue> I clear all aspects of this incident that I may not remember. <cue> I clear all of the patterns connected to all of these decisions, ways and aspects. <cue> I clear all of the emotions and all of the meanings connected to all of these patterns. <cue> I allow all of this clearing to reach all the different parts of me. <cue> It happened, its over, and I am safe now. <cue> Its safe for me to completely let go of all of my upset surrounding this event. <cue> I install new ways of feeling at peace with this incident. <cue> I install new ways of feeling at peace with myself in relation to this incident. <cue> All of this clearing is completely effective for all of the past, all of the present and all of the future. <cue>

If the incident doesnt completely clear, check in to see what the strongest remaining emotions are, and clear any remaining patterns connected to all of the patterns just cleared.
