It has existed since 1988 and its aims are to foster the neighborhoods development, influence political decisions, promote social activities, and have a positive direct and indirect impact on the neighborhood's environment. Different kinds of actions carried out by ART are: - Regular activities: tai-chi, guitar classes, choir, amateur theatre, yoga, painting - Intervention groups: solidarity, transition (discussion and intervention about environmental impact), senior citizens in action (regular and occasional activities for/with the senior population) - Events: festivals, blood donation actions, lectures, diverse workshops As ART promotes many diversified activities, their target group varies from children to senior citizens. They work mostly (but not only) with residents from the neighborhood of Telheiras. ART's staff is mostly formed by volunteers and consists of: 5 members of the board (from 23 to 65 years old), 3 part time volunteers in the office (one of them is almost full-time given that she is a retired teacher with more than 35 years of teaching experience), and a dozen others coordinating the activities.

Activities proposed to the volunteers: - Provide the residents and new associates with information about ART's projects (through various channels of communication); - Search and collect information on events; - Help update the Associations website; - Give support in daily management and simple administrative procedures of ART's projects, both indoors and outdoors; - Support in the organization of social and cultural events for the local community held in partnership with the Local Civil Parish administration, Carnide Council of Youth and other partners - Collaborate in the implementation of events such as: The monthly lecture (helping setting the stage, choosing the themes and speakers, etc); Neighborhood festivals (held 2-3 times per year) where music, dance, sports, culture are all put together in a big street social party; Exhibition and production of series of short films and photographs about the neighborhood, its residents, commerce and activities, The hosting organization has an open mind and intends to support the volunteers in carrying out their own events or initiatives. They believe that new ideas are one of the big advantages of bringing someone to their organization. Therefore, new perspectives and project proposals from the volunteers are always welcome! One typical day of the volunteers may be: 11:00 13:00: General work in the office 13:00 14:00: Lunch 14:00 17:30: Specific support to the Coordinating team of the chosen area, developing and implementing the volunteers' own initiatives 18:30 19:30: Portuguese Language class Other important information: Concerning the stay of the EVS volunteers, the coordinating organization, Associao Spin, will provide the lodging in a flat as close to the workplace as possible. The volunteer might have to share the room with another volunteer/student/young person. A monthly allowance will be provided by the coordinating organization to cover food and local public transportation expenses, including also the pocket money. Volunteers are expected to spend 30-35 hours a week working. Their daily timetable includes time for language lessons, lunch, social activities and development of their own project ideas, etc. They are entitled to two days off for every month of their voluntary work. At the end of their EVS, the volunteers will receive a Youthpass certificate. Who are we looking for? Volunteers aged 18-30 years, open minded, eager to learn about new cultures and lifestyles, as well as to participate in the proposed project activities with the local community. It is not required to have any particular degree of formal education, but to have positive and proactive attitude, show tolerance, flexibility, motivation and enthusiasm.
