The Juniper Services Router (J4350 or J6350). A 10 AWG grounding cable An AC or 14 AWG DC power cable Cables for the TGM550, Telephony Interface Modules (TIMs), and Physical Interface Modules (PIMs).
! CAUTION:
CAUTION:
You cannot use a 14 AWG grounding cable with the router. The grounding cable must be 10 AWG.
A USB modem Two distinct and different console cables: - An RJ-45 console cable and DB-9 adapter for console connections to the TGM550. - An RJ-45 rollover cable and DB-9 adapter for console connections to the Juniper router.
Installing hardware
1. If the customer has a four-post rack and is using a shelf, install the shelf according to manufacturer guidelines. If the customer is using the brackets supplied with the router, install the brackets on the chassis of the Juniper Services router midway between the front and back.

! CAUTION:
CAUTION:
The Juniper Services Router must be turned off before inserting or removing the Avaya TGM550, TIM modules, or PIM modules. These modules are not hot-swappable. If you attempt to remove or insert these modules while the router is turned on, the router might reset or malfunction in some other way. 4. Insert the TGM550 and each TIM or PIM into the correct slot. 5. Align the notches in the connector at the rear of the TGM550, TIM, or PIM with the notches in the slot in the router. Then slide the module in until it lodges firmly in the router.
! CAUTION:
CAUTION:
Carefully slide the module straight into the slot to avoid damaging the connector components.

7. Connect the grounding cable to earth ground and the chassis grounding point. Specifications:
Insert the appliance coupler end of a power cord into the appliance inlet on the power supply faceplate. For a 6350 only, repeat for the second power supply. Insert the plug of each cord into an AC power source receptacle.
DC Power
Ensure that the voltage across the DC power source cable leads is 0 V and that there is no chance that the cable leads might become active during installation. Verify that a licensed electrician has attached the appropriate power cable lugs to the ends of the negative and positive DC source power cables. These are the lugs that you are attaching to the chassis DC terminals.

6. At the cli prompt (>), type show interfaces ge-0/0/<x>, where <x> is the port that
7. Check the Hardware address for the router port you are going to administer for Ethernet connections, for example ge-0/0/3. The Hardware address, which is also called the MAC address, in the example is 00:12:1e:a9:7a:00. 8. At the cli prompt (>), enter configure. 9. At the configure prompt (#), enter the following:
If a root password has not already been set, set system root-authentication plain-text-password, and a new password at the prompt, which you must enter twice. set system time-zone <time-zone> where <time-zone> is the name of the name of the time zone, identified by continent and city. Use the ? option to see the list of time zones.
set system host-name <host-name> where <host-name> is the name of the Juniper Services Router to be accessed on the LAN/ WAN
set interfaces ge-0/0/<#> unit 0 family inet address <IP_address1>/24 arp <IP_address2> mac <mac_address> publish where <#> is the Gigabit port number (1, 2, or 3) you want, <IP_address1> is the address of the router, <IP_address2> is the address of the TGM550, and <mac_address> is the mac address of the port you are configuring for Ethernet connections.
set interfaces vp-<slot_number>/0/0 unit 0 family inet address <internal_ip_address>/32 destination <tgm550_IP_address>, where <internal_ip_address> is the address the TGM550 uses to telnet to the router and <tgm550_IP_address> is the IP address for accessing the TGM550.
set system name-server <IP_address> where <IP_address> is the address of a DNS server on the LAN/WAN. Repeat this command for any additional DNS servers the TGM550 might access.
set system services ssh root-login allow to allow access to the router with ssh.
set system services telnet to allow access to the router with telnet.
set system domain-search <domain_name> where <domain-name> is the name of the Juniper Services Routers network or subnetwork. Repeat this command for any additional domains the TGM550 might access.
set system domain-name <domain_name> where <domain-name> is the name of the Juniper Services Routers domain.
set system ntp server <IP_address> where <IP_address> is the address of an NTP server for time synchronization.
set interface lo0 unit 0 family inet address <IP_address> where <IP_address> is the loopback address of the Juniper Services Router
set system login user <user_name> class super-user where <user_name> is the user login to the router from TGM550. Complete the password prompts.
set system login user <user_name> authentication plain-text-password. At the two password prompts, enter the password.
! CAUTION:
CAUTION:
If a root password has not been set, you must set a new password before you commit the configuration. Check with your Project Manager to get the password.
10. At the prompt, type commit. The system may take some time to commit the commands and reset. 11. Configure the MGC list. a. At the configure prompt (#), enter exit.
b. At the cli prompt (>), enter request tgm fpc <slot_number> media-gateway-controller [<IP_address1> <IP_address2> <IP_address3> <IP_address4>] where <slot_number> is the location of the TGM550, <IP_address1> is either the Processor Ethernet IP address of the primary media server (S8300, S8400, or S8500) or an IP address to a C-LAN connected to the primary media server (S8400, S8500, or S8700-series). The additional IP addresses are the addresses for additional C-LANs or Local Survivable Processors (S8300 or S8500). 12. Set the WAN interface. See Juniper J-Series Services Router Getting Started Guide. See J-Series Services Router Basic LAN and WAN Access Configuration Guide. 13. Set routing options using static routes, OSPF, RIP, BGP, or IS-IS protocols. See J-Series Services Router Basic LAN and WAN Access Configuration Guide. 14. Connect the USB modem to one of the USB ports. 15. Configure the USB modem. See Installing and Configuring the IG550 Integrated Gateway, 03-601548. 16. Upgrade the JUNOS software on the router, if necessary. See Juniper J-Series Services Router documentation. 17. Go to Configuring the TGM550 on page 11.
At the TGM550 command line, type show system. Note the serial number of the TGM550.
3. At the TGM550 command line, type show recovery and check the transition points for the mgc list. 4. Ping the Communication Manager media server.
At the TGM550 command line prompt, type ping <ip_address>, where <ip_address> is the ip address of the media server. Verify that replies from the server scroll down the screen.

At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type show boot bank to determine the non-active disk partition (bank). You copy the firmware to the non-active boot bank. At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type one of the following commands, depending on whether the file resides on an FTP, or TFTP server: - copy [tftp or ftp] SW_image <bank> <filename> <server_ip_address> where <bank> is the bank that is the non-active boot bank, <filename> is the full path name of the firmware image file, which begins and will be similar to the name tgm550_4_0.bin, and <server_ip_address> is the IP address of the FTP or TFTP server.
For an FTP server, enter the login and password, if prompted Logout of the tftp or ftp server. At the TGM550 command line, enter show download software status 10 and check the status of the download. At the TGM550 command line, type set boot bank bank-<bank> where <bank> is the same letter you entered in the previous step. Enter copy running-config start-config. Enter reset, and confirm the reset with y. The TGM550 reboots and logs you out.
Log in to the TGM550 again. At the TGM550 command line, enter show image version to be sure that the active (or current) book bank is running the firmware you downloaded. Type exit to return to the Juniper Services Router CLI. Enter request chassis fpc restart slot <slot_number> to reset the TGM550 where <slot_number> is the slot of the TGM550.
Log in to the TGM550 again. At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type show mg list_config. Verify the system the list of software.
