About Me
I have an utterly unshakable passion for design. When Im not designing or talking, reading or writing about design, Im thinking about it. Its what I love to do. I have an equal passion for print and the web. Im an affable chap with a good sense of humour and I make a mean pot of tea. My training as an architect has fostered within me a constantly enquiring critical ability to find new, creative and impassioned ways to solve old problems.

A spirited and resourceful web and print guy.

My Approach
In short, the most vital factors in my approach to design are well ordered and structured content, great typography, thoughtful use of colour, high usability, functionality and simplicity. I have a very strong client-centered approach. I believe in involving the client as much as possible at all stages. I like to provide my clients with constant feedback. A client who has invested time, will also invest emotionally. I am always looking for alternative techniques and technologies to make my working practice more efficient. Design should not stagnate and I never shirk from change.

Work Undertaken: Initial consultation, marketing strategy, copy writing, Wordpress template design. Development and implementation of the Wordpress site was completed by a third party. Project Synopsis This project involved working with an award-winning wedding cake supplier to completely redesign their website. Their existing static site was not proving to be usable for their staff. The quick turnaround of their products meant that they required an easy to use interface for sharing their work with customers. We decided early on that a Wordpress site would provide a usable interface yet allow unlimited freedom in design. Initially through brainstorming, diagramming and sketching, and then later through wireframing, we produced an information architecture strategy and a Wordpress template.

He approached me with the desire to start selling his products online. We assessed the various e-commerce platforms available and decided upon Magento. I have a good knowledge of PHP and MVC design patterns so this offered the best scope for flexibility and customisation. I took care of all aspects of this site, and still assist in the maintenance and updating.

UCL Research Website

URL: http://www.es.ucl.ac.uk/research/ainsa Date Completed: January 2011 Work Undertaken Website design using HTML, CSS and PHP Project Synopsis This was a 1 day job. The sedimentology research group needed a very basic 4 page static site to replace an outdated one. The primary criterion was that staff should be able to update information reasonably easy. I achieved this with PHP by including all textual information from independent text files which can be updated by staff.

A Data Record
No entity exists in isolation and only has meaning in the connections it makes with other things. In this sense, our places are overlappings of machines with their own overlapping and interconnected productions. Production of light, of heat, of spatial boundaries and bodily affects. As a photograph is a visual record or snapshot of the light production in a space, this study of Piccadilly Station is a snapshot of various data collected at several points at different times of the day. The production is an data-graph.

In the UK we now use 3 times more paper than we can sustainably produce. During 2008/09 the amount of paper the University used was equivalent to 10,000 trees, 42.6 tons, or enough to fill Wembley Stadium many times over.

Please think twice before printing.
