The earliest evidence (circa 1600 BC) of traditional empiricism is credited to Egypt, as evidenced by the Edwin Smith and Ebers papyri. The roots of the Scientific method may be traced back to the ancient Egyptians. The ancient Egyptians are also credited with devising the world's earliest known alphabet, decimal system [9] and complex mathematical formularizations, in the form of the Moscow and Rhind Mathematical Papyri. An awareness of the Golden ratio seems to be r eflected in many constructions, such as the Egyptian pyramids. 2. Such clashes in artistic ideology have since been ongoing, and are evident in the art community in Egypt today. Many of the old school rebel against the younger contemporaries, accusing them of abandoning their regional nuances and ignoring the lessons of tradition and heritage. The contemporary Egyptian artist, now armed with global connectivity and exposure to the art scene around the world, in return accuse their older masters of rejecting any hope for evolution within the local art scene. These struggles have made it a challenge for the emerging artist to discover their own identity. 3. Egyptian culture boasts five millennia of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest and greatest civilizations during which the Egyptians maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Near East and Africa. After the Pharaonic era, the Egyptians themselves came under the influence of Hellenism, Christianity and Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of ancient Egyptian culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including the influence of modern Western culture, itself influenced by Ancient Egypt.
