Dear Prayer Support Team:

July 7, 2011

We have been touched so much by the encouraging notes, comments, and financial gifts that many of you send in to help advance this ministry Winter time in Santiago, Chile we are seeking to carry out here in Chile. Thank you so very much. God has been very good and we thank Him for the partnership we have with you in this ministry.

As you know, we left our last church where we served for several years this past October. The Missionary Baptist Church of San Joaquin now has their own national pastor and support him full time. They continue to have an average attendance of around 150 and continue to have a relationship with their daughter church in Rancagua where Alejandro and Melissa Bravo serve. Just as Paul stayed connected with the churches he helped to start in the New Testament, we too have done the same with this church while involved in another church planting ministry. They invite us back every 6 to 8 weeks to come and preach in a Sunday service. Nikki also continues to go once a month to a ladies Bible study there to be an encouragement to them. After spending some weeks studying, visiting, strategizing, praying, and seeking counsel, we finally decided on a new work in another section of the city that has about 35 to 40 people that meet each Sunday in one of the familys homes. We are currently in the process of finalizing the purchase of a small piece of property that will serve as our church building. It will have a small auditorium of about 28 feet by Scott preaching in our new church, which meets in a 28 feet. Thanks to the First Baptist Church of Glen Este in member's home every Sunday. Batavia, Ohio, led by Pastor Brent Snook, we were able to come up with the downpayment to be able to secure a bank loan for this property. We do have a few needs for this new building and ask that you might pray about the possibility of helping us to purchase these items: 1. We need to purchase 100 interlocking chairs costing $53 dollars per chair. 2. A platform and pulpit costing $700 dollars for the two. 3. Sound equipment including speakers, sound board, microphones, mixer, cables, and sound table - $2748 dollars. If you would like to purchase an item(s) to help our church, let us know and we can explain how to send your gift in to our mission agency to be used for this need. In addition to all the events mentioned above, we have been busy with other ministries as well. Scott taught on the subject of Church Discipline at a pastors retreat where we had about 20 pastors present. He also helped to team-teach a seminar on Evangelism and Discipleship where some 60 leaders from about 30 different churches came to equip themselves to be better servants in these two very important areas. In addition, Scott taught a course on Biblical Counseling at our Bible Seminary this past semester. He had a class of about 37 students. The students have responded very well to the teaching. He has also continued his monthly prison ministry and continues to provide leadership as Team Leader for our ABWE Team of missionaries serving here in Chile. Nikki serves in ladies ministries and also teaches preK at our Christian School (Santiago Christian Academy). Samuel has completed his junior year in high school and is now an official senior. It is hard to believe that our youngest child only has one year left with us before going off to college. Are we really that old?! Samuel with a few of his friends at the Christian Schools graduation. Samuel is the third one from the left.

Please pray for the Christian School where our son attends and where Nikki teaches. We are in desperate need for short term missionaries (and long term) people who could come down and give one semester or a year of teaching in our English speaking school. We need teachers at all levels. And we have a guest house where we can provide a furnished apartment for you stay while living here in Chile. If you are interested in helping in our school, please get in contact with us YESTERDAY! God is doing a wonderful work in Chile. This has been a wonderful year for establishing new church plants. Between missionaries and nationals, we have seen 7 new church plants established this year. To God be the glory. Please pray for the growth of these works and for trained leadership. Big events to pray for: (1) August Inauguration Service of our new church building. (2) August Nikki and I travel to Northern Chile (Iquique) to speak at a Family Bible Conference. (3) September Chile celebrates their Independence Day (18th) this is a very big event in Chile. (4) October Missions Conference for all the churches. (5) November Scott travels to Bogata, Colombia for 3 weeks to teach a course on Biblical Counseling in their Bible Institute there. Since our last prayer letter, we have had 2 new grandchildren born! Seth Lewis Russell was born April 8 to Eric and Amber Russell. He looks exactly like Eric when Eric was a baby. Katelyn Nikole Ann Dickson was born May 8 to Stephen and Amanda Dickson. She looks just like her daddy as well. We are thrilled! That makes 5 grandchildren for us now. I ask again, are we really that old?! Nikki with Seth Lewis Russell, our grandson! We thank the Lord for these many opportunities to serve Him. As we have seen new churches established this year, we are reminded how the fields are white unto harvest but the laborers are few (Luke 10:2). We are truly grateful to those of you that financially support us with either one-time gifts or monthly support gifts. We are humbled by your kindness and generosity.

Our granddaughter, Katelyn Nikole Ann Dickson, Grandpas Girl

Fathers Day on Sunday morning. Meeting in a members home.

Thanking God for the building He is helping us to acquire. Pastor Brent Snook was visiting and is next to me. First Baptist Church of Glen Este gave us a love offering to be able to come up with the downpayment for this property. This prayer meeting took place in the building we are purchasing.
