Summer 2011

The Arts and Philosophy

Course Information Title: The Arts & Philosophy Level: Suitable for Middle School, High School Level Dates: New assignments will be posted every Saturday, answer keys and grades posted as soon as possible Location: http://free-online-self-education.blogspot.com/ Instructor: Nika Kohrt webber35@gmail.com 508-205-9935 Course Description On Saturdays I will be presenting two courses, one for the arts, and one for philosophy. Generally, this will be a pretty laid-back course, but there will be lots of experimenting and physical exploration with both. We will be studying theories of the masters, using these theories, and creating our own. This combined course will enhance cultural understanding and thinking. Objectives For me, as the educator, the objective is to thoroughly educate myself as well as any who choose to peruse my works. I aim to spend this summer in education, instead of leisure. Any works produced are to be thoroughly usable by anyone, student or instructor. Expectations I have no other expectation for the viewers than to remain viewers or users, and not spammers, hackers, or vandals of any sort. I am open to suggestions, but also of course desire a clean, educational site. Materials For the Art portion of this course, we will be using a variety of materials to create. However, there is no need for you to create anything unless you desire to do so. We will be studying the works of others, and images of these will be provided on-site, as well as the insights of others on creation. However, to complete the learning process, it is always best to experiment for yourself. For the Philosophy portion of this course, we will be exploring more or less what others have to say about what philosophy is and promptly thereafter we will be exploring your main conceptions. We will philosophize. Grading Policy No grades! Feel free to send me pictures or documents with your own works, but for this course I feel there is no need for grades. They are your own works, pure and simple.
