Organizational Overview: Peace Dividend Trust (PDT) is a non-profit social enterprise that tests and scales new ideas that improve the impact and efficiency of aid and peacekeeping. Operating in Timor-Leste, Haiti and Afghanistan, with plans to expand into Liberia, PDT has redirected over $650 million in international spending into these local economies and created the first ever mission start-up guide for the launch of new U.N. peacekeeping operations. In 2010, the Skoll Foundation recognized PDT as one of a handful of social enterprises affecting measurable and sustainable change in the developing world. U.S. President Obama awarded the organization the G20 SME Finance Challenge prize at the annual heads of state gathering in Seoul, Korea in November 2010. For more information, please visit www.peacedividendtrust.org Position Overview: The Communications Intern will support PDTs New York based Director of Communications in building PDT awareness of our mission and successes to donors, current and future employees and other stakeholders. Responsibilities and Duties: Oversee website, ensuring up-to-date and engaging content. Maintain PDTs social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Quora by posting interesting content, hosting discussions and developing networking opportunities. Design and implement fundraising strategies via social networking websites. Manage the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic content, including the production of an annual report. Curating PDTs blog post by writing posts daily and editing guest contributions. Tracking news about aid and development news. Put together press kits for different audiences. Support the overall organizational communication and branding strategy and be responsible for consistent messaging. Assist in sourcing stories and draft letters to editors, etc. Assist in planning outreach events i.e. young professional's mixers, etc. salons, etc.

Qualifications: Hours: Able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week Start Date and duration: This position is begins the first week of January and continues until early March 2012 Package This is a volunteer position.
