HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software is included as a complimentary part of the HP StorageWorks RDX Removable Disk Backup System product to deliver hands free and complete data protection for your workstations and servers. Traditional server or workstation backup software can prove complex and inconvenient if you have limited time, resources, experience or desire to dedicate to backup. In addition, some backup applications do not protect you from a complete hard drive failure.

Continuous data protection (CDP) With HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software there is no need for complex backup schedules. HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software continuously monitors your system for changes and automatically backs up any new les or changes to existing les, thus ensuring your data is always protected. HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software will not interfere with or limit the performance of your system as it monitors activity and waits until the optimum moment to complete the backup task. HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software is tuned specically to ensure maximum CDP performance in a server or workstation environment. Multiple le versions How many times have you wished you could revert back to a previous version of a le or overwritten an important presentation with changes by mistake? HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software automatically stores multiple versions of les so that any changes are automatically captured. Deduplication technology ensures that the HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software maximizes the storage capacity of your HP RDX cartridges. Multiple instances of the exact same le are stored only once, saving precious space on your RDX cartridge.

Simple le recovery
HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software allows you to use Windows Explorer for simple drag-and-drop le/folder recovery. The software allows you to view all the les that have been protected, whether the specic le required for restore is online, ofine or archived and which specic cartridge is required for that restore.

Bare MetalRestore (BMR)

HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software comes complete with built-in Bare Metal System Restore capability. Quickly and easily recover an entire workstation or server with no time consuming searches for install disks, license keys and passwords. Simply boot from the recovery CD and the HP RDX ContinuousData Protection Software and HP RDX removable disk cartridge will take care of the rest, completing a Bare Metal System Restore at your chosen point in time.

HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software ensures that everything on your workstation or server is protectednot merely the data. Unlimited le versions,open les, application data, user settings and the complete operating system are all automatically backed up.

Deep windows integration

Windows Explorer is the only user interface required with the HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software.There is no need to learn a confusing, proprietary user interface.

Seamless cartridge rotation and archiving

HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software ensures that your RDX cartridge contains a complete backup of your entire system. But what happens if you want to take a copy of the backup off-site for added security or archiving reasons? Simply remove the cartridge for archiving or off-site storage and insert a new one. HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software will continue to backup on the new cartridge, completely protecting your system once again. This new cartridge will contain a complete copy of your server system, just as the old one did, and is also completely BMR-Capable. Off-site rotation of the cartridges is simple and you can always be sure that your system is protected. RDX cartridges can be marked specically for archiving, preventing any further data from being written onto it. This archived cartridge remains known by the HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software until such time as you decide to reuse it.

Backup status updates

HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software delivers information on the status of your backups and your RDX cartridge(s). Backup status updates include the amount of data protected, the physical space taken up on your cartridge(s) and the available system restore points (for Bare Metal Restore). This information is integrated into the Windows interface and is available at any time via the Task bar icon or Windows Explorer. Backup status updates are also automatically reported after key events such as the completion of a baseline backup. In addition, the HP RDX Continuous Data Protection Software features simple to use, RDX cartridge management features such as warning when a loaded cartridge is approaching its available capacity limit.
