Traces of Grace

Dear Fellow Parishioners;

“Just fruit and vegetables will be fine” were the words from Fr. Isaac when I asked him what he would like to eat while he was staying with us. When I pressed him, he said, “Ok, if you have a little meat that would be fine too.” Simple faire to be sure. But as a parish priest in the Peruvian environment, things are more basic and se- vere. Fr. Isaac is here with us this weekend to share his story of the missions all over the world, but especially in Peru. His appeal is part of our Diocesan support of the missions. May his stay with us be grace filled and as we have in the past, be generous to his plea for assistance.

MARRIED LOVE AND THE GIFT OF LIFE

Men and women considering marriage yearn for certain things. They want to be accepted unconditionally by each other. They want their marriage to be filled with love and happiness. They want a family. In short, they want their marriage to be a source of joy and fulfillment their whole life long.

God’s plan for marriage, from the time he first created human beings as male and female, has always included all this and more.

The power to create a new life with God is at the heart of what spouses share with each other.

Suppressing fertility by using contraception de- nies part of the inherent meaning of married sexuality and does harm to the couple’s unity.

Natural methods of family planning involve fertility education that enables couples to coop- erate with the body as God designed it.

This information is excerpted from Married Love and the Gift of Life, a statement of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) that was approved at its Novem- ber 2006 General Meeting. For more information contact Meredith Thomas @493-5914

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Periodically, and more so of late, we have had gypsies, usually a mother with a small child, seeking money from our parishioners after the weekend Masses. While we have given them food from our Christian Service Out- reach (to which they are indifferent), what they want are monetary donations. It is a ‘racket’ and they prey on parishioner’s good will. They have been circulating among parishes and other establishments seeking money. We ask that you do not respond to their solicitation for money so as not to encourage their return. It is impor- tant to say that we are not turning our backs to the poor; rather we do not wish to condone or encourage their manipulative and sometimes aggressive behavior which is a ‘racket’ for collecting money. —————–————————–——

CIRCLE OF PRAISE

We offer classes on Monday or Wednesday afternoons, and Sunday mornings. If you are an adult who could teach or aide, or a Confirmation student who could aid in a class session this year, I would like to hear from you!

“Christ Caring for People through People.” It’s summer and time for barbeques and get- togethers with family and friends. But some of our friends or neighbors may not be feeling the warmth

and beauty of summer. Life may still feel cold and dreary if they have suffered a loss or experienced a crisis. Our Stephen Ministers are trained to help people through these "winters" of life, providing emotional and spiritual support during tough times. If you or someone you know could benefit from the confidential, one-to-one Christian care of a Stephen Minister, contact us at 949-496-1307 x2503 or email us at stephenministry@stedward.com. —————–———————
