Practical Lean Accounting: A Proven System for Measuring and Managing
As companies move ahead with the implementation of lean production, financial functions often lag behind. When this happens, not only do they fail to actively support the effort, but they can actually hinder it. In Practical Lean Accounting: A Proven System for Measuring and Managing the Lean Enterprise, authors Brian Maskell and Bruce Baggaley present a step-by-step method for transforming a manufacturing company's financial functions to support lean manufacturing. This step-by-step method transforms the accounting system to follow the company's pathway through lean implementation covering what needs to be done at each stage to support lean. A case study runs throughout the text illustrating the lean accounting transformation within the context of the whole lean enterprise. A CDROM is included containing a comprehensive lean accounting diagnostic, detailed forms, and diagrams supporting the transformation to lean accounting. Practical Lean Accounting is a valuable tool for CFOs, controllers, accounting staff, and general managers that use key financial information to control their processes and support lean implementation.

This new video program from SME will show you how the VHS duplicator TECHNICOLOR Company was able to tap into the power of employee ideas to help their business thrive by building employee trust. Like so many organizations, TECHNICOLOR, located in Livonia, Michigan, was facing competitive pressures, and had to improve their performance or be eliminated. By motivating the employees to come up with ideas to make them more efficient, they were able to effect a positive change in their workplace culture and gain market share in the VHS duplication business. Examples are based on improvements in facilities layout, improved visual controls, elimination of a noise problem, reduction of tape handling and other smaller wastes. By viewing this program you will hear some of the actual ideas that were submitted, from the actual people who came up with the ideas. You will also hear a description of the system in place at TECHNICOLOR that collects and implements these employee ideas.

SPC Workout
SPC Workout is a comprehensive, computerbased interactive training system that teaches operators, engineers, and supervisors how to use statistical process control. It is ideal for training new employees how to use control charts in their jobs and is also a good refresher for experienced employees. It is divided into three units, Statistics Primer, Control Charts, and Process Capability, and upon completion of the lessons in each unit, learners can take the Fitness Challenge to test their knowledge of what they learned in the unit. Learners will be able to better understand variation in manufacturing processes including patterns and measures of variation, monitor and control variation with variable and attribute control charts, and describe basic process capability concepts and the importance of capability when using control charts.

Users Guide to Powder Coating 4th Edition
For nearly 20 years, "User's Guide to Powder Coating" has been the leading hands-on guide on powder coating technology. Now in its 4th edition, the book addresses recent developments which have contributed to powder coating's ever-increasing favorability over liquid coating. Since the publication of the last edition, this process has been adapted to a wider range of applications, notably for hightemperature and temperature-sensitive products. Equipment has been greatly improved, achieving faster color change, increasing transfer efficiency, and reducing overall powder usage. Environmental requirements have prompted many companies to switch to powder coating. This book combines information on the latest breakthroughs in the industry (notably ultraviolet-curable materials for plastic and wood products, and improved systems) and tried-and-true guidelines from the previous edition (including factors like material selection, design considerations, surface preparation, quality control and testing, troubleshooting and safety, and more), so you can achieve superior finishes with efficiency.
