Homeownership is a goal for most of us, and achievement of that goal is a significant milestone. However, when a change in financial circumstances causes you to become delinquent or default on your mortgage loan, the risk of losing this asset becomes a frightening reality.
If your home is at risk of foreclosure, don't waste precious time hoping it will get better. Call CCCS for a Housing Counseling appointment. CCCS credit counselors are also certified Housing Counselors through the Association of Housing Counselors and the Affordable Housing Coalition of North Carolina, Inc. They also have advanced training in Foreclosure Intervention through the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) and NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling. CCCS is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency for all of your housing counseling needs. CCCS counselors can negotiate with your mortgage lender for repayment options which may be available to you such as a special forbearance agreement, loan modification, or partial claim to get your mortgage payments caught up. Other options may also be available for a temporary hardship situation. A thorough financial analysis will help you to see how you can go about getting your mortgage caught up and staying on track by prioritizing your expenses and budgeting carefully. Should foreclosure become a real threat, you need all the information you can get to best handle this possibility with the least amount of damage to your family and finances. If you are facing the possibility of foreclosure, let CCCS help you identify what options may be available to assist you in maintaining your home. Contact the CCCS Appointment Desk at (336) 896-1191 or toll free 1-888-474-8015 and request a Housing Counseling appointment. Mortgage Payment Program Get Help Keeping Your Home The Mortgage Payment Program helps North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or other temporary financial hardship. Funded through the U.S. Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund, these loans are offered by the N.C. Housing Finance Agency in partnership with HUD-certified counseling agencies statewide. Beginning in mid-October, the funds will serve homeowners in 17 pilot counties. They will be available statewide in December 2010. The program offers zero-interest loans up to $24,000 to cover your mortgage and related expenses for up to 24 months while you search for or train for a new job. If you live in one of the 50 counties with the highest unemployment, you may be eligible for up to $36,000 over 36 months. The loan can also be used to bring your mortgage current. Susan C.
