Tools required: - small side cutting pliers - small pliers or tweezers - small flathead screwdriver - crosshead screwdriver - soldering iron - desoldering vacuum - 8 leds that will replace the originals (- 7 zero ohm resistors aka jumper wires, see text.) Time: ~45minutes I used 3mm blue led's (550MCD only!!) as stock led replacement. OK, here's how it goes... (Full scale images available in gallery) 1. Open one crosshead screw from the bottom left (bottom right in RHD cars) corner of the dash. Pull the pod that covers light switch (and holds one air vent) out. Note that the light switch is not attached to the pod.
2. Open three more crosshead screws to release the switch. Disconnect connector.

3. Now the switch body pieces are locked together with 8 plastic nails (see picture). There is NO need to open the upper ones. Use small flathead scredriver to open the four nails that are in the lower edge.

4. Inside you'll find PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that is locked to switch body with jumper wire bridges that are connected to connector notches (see section 6 for better image). This time I managed to get the PCB out without cutting the jumper wires. (If you cut those, you need to solder new ones in there.)
Okay the switch is now in three pieces. Time to change the lights...

6. There is 9 leds in PCB, 8 of those are green and are going to be replaced. Now the leds are connected in series and have some SMD resistors soldered in series too. So I just first replaced one and then tested to see if the voltage is ok.
Works fine, so now just desolder olds and solder new ones in. (I ran out of blue leds and so did the local components store, so there is actually 3 green ones still in there. )

7. Press the PCB back to the switch body. Construct the switch body. Test that lights and the switch still works.
8. Put the switch and pod back to dash (sections 1 and 2 in reverse order). 9. All done! (Well not on mine in this picture... as you can see the 3 green ones are still in there.)
