SHIPPING AGENCY

Presently, J. M. Baxi & Co. handle a wide assortment of over 6000 vessels per annum at major and minor Indian ports. Vessels that have a range of tonnages and handle a variety of cargoes from Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) and gigantic tankers to specialized product carriers; from general cargo vessels to modern container vessels, lash vessels, cruise vessels, cattle

Our specialized Agency services for cruise vessels is backed by an in-depth knowledge of local port conditions and Custom regulations. This enables our team of experts to ensure a smooth passage of passengers and crew through immigration formalities at any port in India. We have also successfully handled visiting naval ships. CHARTERING BROKERS

Our ship brokerage and chartering services are geared to deliver distinct advantages to our customers, drawing on our long years of experience and expertise in the shipping domain. We offer shipping brokerage services for a wide range of cargoes across major international trade routes. Our chartering activities are conducted from three locations each catering to different segments of cargo and customers. Our ofce in New Delhi mainly handles government controlled cargoes, as well as, private cargoes. The ofces in Chennai and Mumbai are responsible for commercial chartering as separate cells.

BULK CARGO OPERATIONS

J. M. Baxi & Co. have stevedoring licenses at most major and minor ports, which enable us to handle diverse cargoes such as dry and liquid, bulk & break bulk, containerized, heavy lift and over dimensional. Bringing into play years of experience and expertise in successful execution of such assignments has helped us expand the list of clients, both domestic and multinational, to record a steady growth in volumes. We have handled over 5 Million Tons of cargo and are condent of accelerated growth in the near future. The company has pioneered lighterage operations of grains, transferring grain from large vessels to smaller ones. Today, various types of barges are deployed for receiving over dimensional cargoes, dry bulk and general cargo. We own and operate high discharge rate vacuators and grabs, and have developed advanced systems for mechanical loading / unloading of dry bulk cargoes at anchorage. Our bagging plants are already in operation at port locations. In brief, our turnkey services encompass receiving the cargo, documentation, stevedoring, lighterage activities, warehousing etc as Licensed Agents in all ports of India.

As licensed Custom House Agents at most Indian ports, J. M. Baxi & Co. provides efcient clearing and freight forwarding services. Freight forwarding services include custom clearance, compliance with import / export regulations, comprehensive multi-modal point to point service comprising land, rail, air and sea transport and warehousing. The warehousing facilities are at locations in the vicinity of most Indian Ports. Value addition comes through advisory services to clients on custom and licensing procedures that accrue as savings in port demurrage and project delays.

PROJECT TRANSPORT

J. M. Baxi & Co. provides specialized professional transportation services for a wide range of project equipment including over dimensional cargoes and delicate equipment on a turnkey and door to door basis. We are fully equipped with prime movers, hydraulic axles, heavy lift RoRo barges, self-propelled hatch type barges, mobile cranes, and a host of specialized equipment for specic transportation tasks. The transportation logistics involves detailed planning & scheduling to contend with the exigencies of terrain, distances and environment. We also offer consultancy in transport logistics. We have successfully handled the project cargo of several prestigious clients involving multi-modal transport.

J. M. Baxi & Co. is a One Stop Service Provider for shipping and logistics requirements involving International Freight Forwarding, custom clearance, warehousing and transportation of a wide spectrum of cargo, ranging from LCL consignments to odd sized and heavy lift project cargo. Our service advantages are leveraged through our excellent nationwide network of own ofces and links to foreign partners. CONTAINER LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

With increasing accent on containerization world over, a separate cell has been established to handle containers at all major ports. We handle all types of containers: reefer, tank and at rack, in addition to conventional ones.

We have access to our associate company s Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Inland Container Depots (ICDs), equipped with sophisticated container handling equipment such as Top Lifters and Trailers.

PORT DEVELOPMENT & TERMINAL MANAGEMENT

Commensurate with our vast experience in shipping industry, we own, operate and manage dedicated common users terminals, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We have been managing our own jetty along with back-up area at Rozi (Jamnagar) since 1998. The jetty is fully equipped with conveyors and bagging plants, ideally suited for loading and unloading of bulk cargoes. We set up the rst container terminal at Visakhapatnam port on the East coast of India, which is in operation since June 2003. We offer turnkey offshore & shore based support facilities for major International & national clients in the oil and gas business sectors, notably at Bhavnagar & Mumbai. We are also active in the bidding process of developing new ports & terminals at other locations as well.

TANKER OPERATIONS

Experienced and competent personnel handle tanker operation at various Indian ports. The operations involving over 1,400 tankers include discharge of crude, edible oils, diverse petroleum products, assorted chemicals, LNG and LPG.

We have the expertise and specialized equipment to receive various products through pipelines or tank trucks and are the only Agency House in India with competence to carry out critical ship-to-ship transfer of crude and petroleum products. CREW RECRUITMENT & SHIP MANAGEMENT

Good personnel are key to success of any business. We offer special services of hiring quality manpower for any kind of vessel. We undertake recruitment on a regular basis of ofcers and crew for ocean going vessels, technical staff for offshore oil rigs, supply vessels and competent qualied personnel for turnkey contractors. We also undertake recruitment and management of similar manpower for a number of overseas clients. Boxtrans Logistics is a dedicated rail service provider transporting containers, operating Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Domestic Rail Hubs (DRHs), connecting several cities and industrial zones around the country. The company will also provide point - to - point transportation service that creates customized solutions for its clients to help expedite logistics processes of several targeted industries. The service will effectively bridge any location in India to another or / and to any foreign destination. It is a one-stop solution for your cargo transportation needs. Boxtrans Logistics will innovatively transform the way your goods are collected, transported and delivered. Another new initiative is DIABOS Pvt. Ltd., an associate of J. M. Baxi & Co., which essentially is a BPO for shipping. The BPO will replace current in-house processing by a highly automated web-based service that allows workow integration between all business entities. The result will be efcient handling of the transaction processing cycle. Most of the support functions can be outsourced to the BPO.

We own a range of specialized equipment for performing a variety of operations. These include hydraulic axles, Titan and DAF prime movers, heavy lift Ro Ro barge, self-propelled hatch barges, 500 BHP tug, heavy duty cranes, fork lifts and top lifters, mechanical trailers, hydraulic jacks, 4 point lifting system, 400 tons road bolsters, special railway wagon, grabs, vacuators, dumpers, mechanical bagging plants etc. We also have priority access to other standard and specialized equipment as and when required. To provide an added impetus to our bulk cargo operations, we have set up fully equipped warehouses. In addition, we operate and manage common users terminals and have access to associate company s Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Container Freight Stations (CFS) at various locations across the country. A well equipped communication channel is the life line of any business activity. We have a nationwide high tech communication network, monitored through a Communication Centre at Mumbai. A dedicated transmission frequency keeps the communication channels open at all times round-the-clock.
