Do you have any potential conflicts of interest? It may seem like a rude question, but the best planners expect this one and are prepared to make disclosure. Obviously, if a planner profits from the sale of investment products to you, he / she must spell that out. How do you feel about teaching and training? One of the primary benefits of having a financial planner is education about the moves you are making or may potentially make. Dont view a planning relationship as tossing someone your finances so you wont have to deal with them anymore. As long as youre paying for their services, make sure you get a long-term education out of it.

Elancing With the Stars
(NUI) - Owning or managing a business requires some fancy footwork. Especially challenging are difficult economic times like today when life calls for the tango, while all the steps you know are the conga, limbo and the hustle. But, how can businesses pull off this two-step, even during a time of cutbacks? Smart businesses have gotten into the swing of getting work done with speed, flexibility and at a manageable cost - tapping the army of professional online freelancers always accessible at Web sites like Elance.com. Online freelancers, or elancers (rhymes with freelancers), are qualified professionals with expertise in areas like Web programming, design, copywriting, research and other specialized skills. Here are a few ways e-lancers can help small businesses during uncertain economic times: - Connect with Key Customers. Make sure you are closer than ever to your most valuable customers. Hire elancers to call and thank valued customers, write and conduct customer surveys, design and execute direct mail campaigns or develop special promotional offers to build loyalty with your best customers. - Sharpen Your Sales and Marketing. Invest in bringing in new customers. Consider hiring an elancer to re-write your sales and marketing materials, re-design or upgrade your Web site, help you launch a blog, build and execute an online marketing campaign, qualify sales leads or simply update your customer newsletter. - Maximize Employee Productivity. Lets face it; there are lots of distractions that slow down your best employees. Empower your people to delegate activities to elancers who are specialists. Tasks such as conducting competitive research, sourcing new customer leads, entering data into your database, organizing customer or employee events and other administrative tasks are ideal to entrust to an on-line freelancer. -Elancing with the Stars. Smart business owners say theyve used Elance to reinvigorate their businesses flexibly and affordably, without adding fixed costs to their operations. Using elancers, they scale up or down as needed. Best of all, these stars, with their specialized skills, are available around the clock to help small businesses stay productive and ahead of the competition. And thats something worth dancing about.

(NUI) - Stress and anxiety form normal parts of the human experience. Seven out of every 10 North Americans report feeling stressed or anxious every day. Anxiety is a normal reaction when something isnt right. An anxiety disorder is when an individual experiences persistent, irrational and overwhelming anxiety that interferes with daily life. Anxiety disorders is the term used to include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder or social phobia, and specific phobias, said ADAA President and CEO Jerilyn Ross, MA, LICSW. Completely eliminating stress proves impossible, but people can learn to manage their stress through lifestyle
changes. For example, regular exercise helps ease anxiety. Some studies show that exercise can work quickly to elevate depressed moods in many people. A brisk walk or other simple activity can deliver several hours of relief, similar to taking an aspirin for a headache. Regular aerobic exercise has been shown to decrease overall levels of tension, elevate and stabilize mood and improve sleep and self-esteem. Science has also provided some evidence showing that physically active people have lower rates of anxiety and depression than sedentary people. Thats why exercise is an integral part of every treatment program recommended by Ross. People may feel powerless in terms of home life, finances or politics, but theyre in control when they exercise, said Ross.
Fitness Tip: Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it. ~Plato Running, walking, gardening its all good. Regardless of what you do, regular exercise and physical activity is the path to health and well-being. Exercise burns fat, builds muscle, lowers cholesterol, eases stress and anxiety, lets us sleep restfully.
Healthy Travel
(NC)-There is limited air moisture inside an aircraft and much of it is actually other peoples sweat and breath. Add to this the fact that airplane filters do not remove all circulating viruses and that passengers are in very close and confined quarters, and it becomes clear people face vastly increased exposure to germs on flights. If you are planning a winter getaway to the ski slopes or the southern sun this season, here are a few important health tips to take with you: 1. Travel well rested. Be sure to get lots of sleep a week prior to departure. In an environment with lots of people in close contact, sleep also helps keep your immunity strong to fight airborne germs. 2. Bring medications and treatments. Put your medications in your carryon luggage just in case your suitcase is lost. Take supplements prior to travel to help prevent a cold or the flu. (NC)-What better way to learn the ABCs of pregnancy than from a pregnant gal herself. Here are some things that I think every pregnant woman needs to know. 1. Take care of your health and your babys health with regular visits to the doctor and keep a record of all of the upcoming checkups and what tests will be done. 2. Eat! Make sure you have a balanced diet with lots of grains, fruits and vegeta-
bles. Include the suggested amounts of iron, calcium and protein into your diet. And indulge on occasion in your favourite foods or cravings. 3. Being pregnant doesnt mean nine months of being a couch potato. Its okay, in fact encouraged, to exercise while pregnant. Maintain a level of physical activity, with the approval of your doctor, in activities such as walking, yoga or strength training.

with CNBC, the economist Richard Dekaser recently referred to the real estate market in neighboring Naples as "slightly undervalued." According to the Burke, "Seventy-one percent of all closed sales are under $500,000, with 36 percent under $250,000. As a result, buyers are rightly coming to the conclusion that now is a great time to get a good deal." Additionally, Burke notes, sellers who price their homes competitively benefit the most from the increase in sales. "I have noticed that the sellers who are pricing their houses in the lower 20 percent are the ones most likely to sell. The sellers who are staying in the Cont.d from page 1 front of the market with price reductions, rather than chasing the the leading edge of technology the most market down, are the ones with for helpsuccess." ing sellers sell and buyers find, he says. www.CoconutPointRealEstate.com offers a handful of other tools for helping buyers and sellers. For instance, the website has an Area Links section, which puts all of the communitys important links in one place. This makes the website a one-stop shop for information about the area. The new website also incorporates several of Burkes most successful tools for sellers and buyers. For example, Burke offers a home feedback system, allowing agents and potential buyers to fill out a survey indicating what they liked or didnt like about the house, and whether they thought the price was appropriate. This helps Burke keep his listings priced in the lower 20 percent of the market, where they will attract the most showings, and therefore sell the fastest. Market Reports is another feature that Burke has long offered buyers and sellers, and will be available on his new website. These reports compile all of the sales data for a specific neighborhood, such as the final sales prices for homes, the average price per square foot, and the average days on market. This data is a useful resource

Seller Elite Home Feedback and Market Reports are tools that are exclusive to my websites, Burke says. They help my sellers keep in touch with the current market, which translates into less time spent on the market and offers that are closer to the original asking prices. All of the features offered on Burkes website support one fundamental idea: the importance of remaining competitive in the current market. The websites search features increase visibility for sellers by making homes easier for buyers to find, and the area links make the website a comprehensive resource for both buyers and sellers. Perhaps more importantly, the sites Market Reports and Home Feedback enable sellers to keep their fingers on the markets pulse. Price is still the key to selling a home, Burke says, noting that homes priced within the lower 20 percent sell the fastest. My goal with my website is to help sellers find that happy medium between a good price and a quick sale.

(NC)Commonly, New Years resolutions are made by individuals who want to make personal growth or improvements in some area of their life. But resolutions made as a family unit have their benefits too. Shared resolutions develop teamwork skills, bring a family closer together and provide the support each family member needs to be successful at keeping resolutions. There are many New Years resolutions that will give the whole family a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction:
Eat healthy and exercise as a family. Children who develop healthy eating and exercise habits while they are young are more likely to continue to lead healthy lifestyles through adulthood. Parents are the perfect role model for this. Its as simple as eating fruit for snacks and going for walks as a family. Schedule sit - down dinners as a family. With busy days, weeks and months that just race by, its easy to grab a bite on the go as parents hustle to get kids to music lessons and soc-
cer practice. Or maybe the kids just want to sit in front of the T.V. while they eat dinner in their own little world. But studies show that having dinner as a family fosters conversation, bonding, warmth, security and loveespecially important during the teen years. Dinner as a family may not be possible every night, but even one night a week makes a difference. Support a charitable cause as a family. Many individuals get involved in various charitable causes as a New Years resolution, but
You can become a greener cat owner with 10 simple steps, Cordes advises:
1. Give them shelter. Overcrowding at animal adoption centers strains resources. You can help ease the problem and possibly save an animals life by adopting from a shelter rather than buying a cat from a pet store or breeder. 2. Use protection. Get your cat spayed or neutered. Unplanned, unwanted deliveries often wind up in shelters, contributing to the overcrowding problem. Plus, spaying and neutering can help reduce your cats risk of developing uterine, ovarian, or testicular cancer. 3. Tag, youre it. Be sure your cat always wears a name tag. If he gets lost, the tag will help anyone who finds him return him to you. Plus, youll conserve the gas you would waste driving around the neighborhood hunting for him, and the paper for those missing posters. 4. Keep it clean and gentle. Replace traditional pet care and cleaning products that may contain harsh chemicals with gentle, all-natural products. 5. Potty all the time. Choose environmentally friendly cat litter made with natural biodegradable corn fibers which are sensible for the environment. 6. Food for thought. Just as added hormones or pesticides in your food arent good for you, theyre not good for your cat, either. Look for pet food that is natural, organic and FDA-certified. 7. Quench their thirst. Be sure to use filtered tap water rather than bottled water, which weighs on your wallet and the environment. 8. Play ball. Purchase toys made from sustainable fibers or recycled materials, or entertain your cat with homemade toys crafted from recycled materials, like a scratching pole made from old carpeting. 9. Into the wild... or not. If your cat craves the outdoors, try to keep his outside time supervised in an enclosed area . 10. Purr-tanical gardens. In an enclosed space, plant a small garden in your backyard for your cat and stock it with cat-safe herbs and flowers.

(NC)-Kitchen designers dont typically suggest a corner sink unless you ask for it. But its a good idea to ask as it might be right for your kitchen. In any case, its important to select your kitchen sink early in the kitchen design process. Do you want a large sink to accommodate big pots and pans? Then that will determine your cabinet size and design. Or, could a corner sink maximize space and create a more interesting layout? Then you need to decide before selecting cabinets as a special cabinet will be needed and you will have to consider plumbing placement as well. A corner sink can serve as a stunning focal point in the kitchen as well as maximize work space. If your kitchen is U- or L-shaped, or generally space-challenged, then a corner kitchen sink could be an excellent solution. Putting your sink into an awkward corner that wouldnt otherwise get much use frees up valuable straight runs of counter. Depending on the layout of the rest of the room and your
Flowers found in the grocery floral department can seem a bit dull at first. But with a few strategic moves you can turn everyday flowers from dowdy to delicious Supermarket flowers are the movie librarians of the world. (You know the scene, shes frumpy at first glance, but remove her glasses, let down her hair and she transforms into a ravishing beauty.) Basically, theres nothing wrong with supermarket flowers. Like the Technicolor librarian, its the presentation thats all wrong. Start with those rather sadlooking plastic pots, for example. They may be perfect for commercial nurseries, but something snappier might better suit your home. In fact, you can doll up those duds by simply changing or camouflaging the plastic pot. The first strategy is double-potting. Its easy to do. Simply slide the grocery plant, plastic pot and all, into a second, prettier, pot with a drainage hole and saucer (or any old plate) to protect tabletops from moisture. A second option is to actually replant the grocery plant into the prettier pot you have at home. Depending on the size of the new pot, you may need to add a bit of extra potting soil to make your little supermarket plant feel cozy in its new home. For a more fashionable upgrade, pick up three of the same kind of plant and repot all three together into one larger, prettier, container you own. By grouping multiple small plantings into one larger assembly, you create a more dramatic result. Now more lush and full, this planting will look like you paid a mint, plus a larger pot wont dry out so fast and thus the flowers tend to last even longer. If re-potting isnt for you, consider the venerable cachepot. The word comes from the French phrase for hidden pot. Choose a decorative pot only slightly larger than the plastic pot you wish to conceal, no drainage hole necessary. Just slip the plastic nursery pot (as is) into its new, tonier digs and voila! The best thing about double-potting and the cachepot approach is that, once you have a few perfectly-sized containers on hand, you can fill and refill them with fresh supermarket plants all winter long. Just pick up new pots of hyacinths or daffodils every few weeks to replace any that are fading.
Portable Heaters
(NUI) - With rising food costs and fluctuating gas and energy prices, many of us feel the pinch in our wallets and bank accounts. How can we stay warm without breaking the bank? According to the Alliance to Save Energy organization, lowering your thermostat one degree saves you 4 percent in heating costs. If every household turned their thermostat down just 2 degrees, each home could save 8 percent in heating costs. With the money saved from lowering thermostats 2 degrees, we could collectively: Feed 11.6 million families of four - or the entire population of New York City and Chicago for four years. Fuel 8.4 million cars for one year. Cover four years of public or state college expenses, including tuition, room and board, for 237,000 students.

movies-on-the-beach - and the one-of-a-kind specialty programs like film-making, acting, singing and other performance arts - dont be too surprised if you never see them again! And you? Indeed, for all adults, Club Med is legendary for its barefoot mixing and mingling - and for its upscale entertainment, recreation, sports instruction, menu choice, and especially for its late night fun. Spend your days sipping pina coladas under swaying palms on Punta Canas bleach-white beach. Or, simply disappear for hours on end. The new Spa here features an infinity pool, a Zen lounge, and it has eight treatment rooms, including a secluded one for a couples massage. (NC)-Not everyone gets a break on a family vacationParents, especially moms, still have to care for their newborns, supervise their toddlers, watch their school age rascals, and keep at least one eye on the activities of their teens and tweens. The only way a parent can actually rest and rejuvenate is to choose a resort that does all this supervising for you. We say, start with www.clubmed.ca, says Christine Dicaire, spokesperson for the vacation company. For example, at the totally refurbished, Club Med Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, even infants from four months old enjoy programs with fully trained professionals. Its a new facility we call, Baby Club Med. This utterly doting service for babies gives parents any amount of freedom they seek. Or, if you have 2and 3-year-olds, the Petit Club Med engages them in a full array of age-specific activities, and the Mini Club Med does the same for children aged 4 to 10. Teens and tweens are fully supervised too in Club Med Passworld, the coolest club of them all. So parents beware, Dicaire continued, when you consider your teens excitement over unlimited sports, and watersports, plus the excursions, hiking, picnics,
Oversize Suites And if by chance you are a family that requires a lot of space, ask to be accommodated in a Family Suite. These 775 square-foot, oceanfront bungalows feature two bedrooms, premium amenities and services, access to an exclusive infinity pool, and a 95 square-foot deck. Says Christine Dicaire: You may think your family needs a lot of space, but the excitement of sharing your own private place on the beach, actually promotes togetherness.
( NUI) - New Years resolutions can be about more than shedding a few pounds and exercising more. Simply changing a few habits can help your vehicle last longer, command a higher resale price, pollute less and burn less gasoline. Heres helpful advice from the experts at the non-profit National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the group that tests and certifies automotive technicians: Clean out your vehicle: Remove unnecessary items from the passenger cabin and the trunk; less weight means youll use less gasoline. Remove that rooftop cargo carrier when youre finished hauling youll cut down on gas-hogging wind resistance. Check your tires pressure once a month: Tires with low pressure cause the engine to work harder and to burn more gasoline to move the vehicle. Poorly aligned wheels and improperly inflated tires also wear out faster, costing you money in replacements. Follow your carmakers recommended service intervals: A neglected vehicle burns more gas and will break down more often than well-maintained machines. The owners manual spells out which systems need servicing and when. Fouled spark plugs and clogged filters waste gasoline: Routine oil changes will keep your vehicle from aging before its time. If you notice changes in engine performance, like rough idling or poor accelerations, you are due for a visit to the shop. Resolve to become a better driver: Avoid jackrabbit starts - sudden accelerations waste fuel and strain the engine. Speeding greatly decreases miles per gallon, so drive the speed limit. When possible, use cruise control to maintain a steady pace. Aggressive hard starts and stops wear your brakes out faster. Finally, consolidate your errands to minimize short trips. Look for high-quality repair shops: ASE was founded as a non-profit, independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. ASEcertified professionals wear blue and white shoulder insignia and carry credentials listing their areas of expertise. Their employers often display the blue and white ASE sign. Visit www.ase.com for seasonal car-care tips and more information.

Time Management isnt rocket science - and these FIVE SIMPLE RULES can help: Keep your meetings rare. Surveys show that most people find meetings a major time waster. Use them sparingly, keep to an agenda, start and end on time. And unless someone is expecting a baby, or using technology is a key part of the meeting, turn off all cellphones and BlackBerries. No passing digital notes. Show your technology who is boss. Most of todays devices and software actually can be set to be less intrusive. You just need to learn how: Switch off the ping that heralds the arrival of an E-mail, create folders into which incoming messages are automatically shunted. When busy, let outgoing messages alert others to when they might reasonably expect to hear back from you. Give yourself a time-out. Devote an hour or more to uninterrupted thinking and planning every day. First thing in the morning is safest, but anytime is good. No
calls, no E-mail, no chitchat. If theres an emergency, someone will come get you, say organization experts. Use this time to think strategically about your work. Say no. Sorry isnt the hardest word--no is. But not saying it to desperate colleagues or harried bosses is the quickest way to overload your schedule and muck up more important goals. Focus first on meeting your stated objectives. Also, consider family and personal time when filling your calendar: Work-centric employees are more likely to report feeling overloaded than those who plan for their personal lives. Delete. Surveys show we waste 20% of our day on nonproductive activities. Cut out or delegate anything on your to-do list that doesnt have long-term consequences for your work. Be ruthless. And while youre at it, dont let a stuffed E-mail in-box sap your will to live. When reviewing each E-mail, make an on-thespot call to delete, file, or reply to each one--even if the response is, Ill get back to you on this later.

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. -Josh Billings
Some Observations:
The war between the sexes will never be won. There is too much fraternizing with the enemy! The nice thing about egotists is that they never talk about other people! Hindsight: Sitting on your glasses! The face of a woman can say it all especially the mouth part of the face! There are 2 times when a man doesnt understand a woman - before marriage and after marriage. A womans work that is never done is the stuff she asked her husband to do! Three rabbits in a row hopping backwards simultaneously = A receding hareline! A man getting a divorce = going through the change of wife! Buffet: A French word that means Get up and get it yourself! Always get married early in the morning. That way, if it doesnt work out, you havent wasted the whole day! When life hands you a lemon - make Lemonade!
Thoughts to Ponder
Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail. A good time to keep your mouth shut is when youre in deep water.
