4. What is design engineering? Discuss where exactly design comes in software engi-
neering. Explain it’s relationship with other phases of software engineering. [8+8]
5. (a) State some examples that illustrates why response time variability of user
interface can be an issue.
(b) Discuss the design principles that reduce the user?s memory load in user in-
terface. [8+8]
6. A major information system has 1140 modules. There are 96 modules that perform
control and coordination functions and 490 modules whose function depends on
prior processing. The system processes approximately 220 data objects that each
has an average of three attributes. There are 140 unique database items and 90
different database segments. Finally, 600 modules have single entry and exit points.
Compute the DSQI of this system. [16]
