Course Description
1 BPSM presents a basic framework for understanding strategic decision making.+ individuals specialized functional area knowledge = enables preparing for general management responsibilities 2 In terms of knowledge - learners understand concepts like strategy, programs etc, learn internal and external environmental factors, get information, gets to know how to implement strategies, solve problems of real life business issues 3 BPSM helps in understanding constraints and complexities of real life business environment. 4 Thus knowledge of BPSM helps in preparing to move up to top management levels. The concepts described in this course are well aligned and responsive in their application. They are designed to help you in creating a sustainable added value.

Course Objective
1. In terms of skills-understand how to analyze, based on case studies, analytical ability, decision making skills, mental ability for appropriate action. Develop oral and written communication skills thru case analysis. 2 In terms of attitudes- thinks like a generalist to see from all possible angles, even with partial information gets a attitude to go ahead using experience of involvement in all units, receptive to new ideas for problem solving, go beyond and think when faced with problematic situation, developing creative and innovative attitude as a G.M. who refuse to be precedence bound or for taking stereotype decisions. 3. To expose the students to fundamental concepts of BPSM & its processes 4 The Key Issues in BPSM 5 Acquire a basic BPSM vocabulary

Knowledge objectives
1 On the completion of this module students will be able to a) Understand the more complex decision making skills b) Understand & critically evaluate the strategic orientation in organisations c) Understand models in order to reflect upon & evaluate their utility & impact on strategy d) Independently critically apply and adapt strategic principles there by attaining Problem Solving Skills (COMPETENCE) 2 How do you move up the Ladder of abstraction i.e. How to do well in this course?
