A Ritual for Opening the Paths of the Serpent

The Neophyte should be robed and armed, as he is able; incense in the East, corresponding to the Path which is being invoked. In the South an appropriately coloured candle, in the West, the Magick Cup with the Lustral Waters and the Magick Pantacle with its sea salt is placed at the Northern cardinal point of the Magick Circle. The Magick Circle itself should be drawn upon the floor in the colours of the Path, with all of the Names and Sigils appropriate to the Path being written about its circumference. Upon the Altar, the Lamp is placed toward the East, to the South is placed the Holy Oil of Abramelin and to the North upon the Altar is the Magick Bell. At the centre of the Altar should be the Tarot Trump card corresponding to the Path, these Atus being the most complete Mandala available for these Paths of the Serpent.

The Godhead corresponding to the Path generally, and the Vision of the Path of Sepher Yetzirah specifically, are the forces to be invoked, after the LVX and ABRAHADABRA

Bathed and robed, the magician purifies the Temple with the Lustral Waters and performs The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

The Preliminary Invocations should be the Invoking Pentagram or Hexagram Ritual of the Planet, Sign or Element of the Path of the Serpent, which is being explored. Following this, the magician should make the Mystic Circumambulations, and the Ritual of the Middle Pillar, as well as some invocation to ABRAHADABRA if he will.

When his Temple is properly prepared, the magician should swear the Oath of the Attainment of the Vision of the Path of Sepher Yetzirah; I, (motto), do solemnly swear before the Lord of the Universe and the invoked powers of (name of the Path), that I shall open the Path of (Hebrew Letter of the Path) being the (number of Path) Path of Sepher Yetzirah, the Book of Formation. To that end I have made this Magick Circle and brought to it the Tarot Atu (name Tarot Trump) which is a living symbol of (name Hebrew letter), and I shall now invoke the (number) Path of Sepher Yetzirah, and enter into it by this Magick Portal and partake of all that is to be revealed therein. Do What Thou Wilt Shall be the Whole of the Law.

Following this, the magician should recite an invocation to the particular Path of the Serpent.(the following is an invocation to the 32nd Path). O Thou! Adonai Ha-Aretz! O Thou AB! O Thou Yah! Manifest to me now, that I may partake of the Purity of existence therein. O Thou! Administrative Intelligence! Wherein the order of the Universe is conceived. Take on manifestation in form that I may penetrate the mysteries of the Path of Tau! Connecting and binding link between the material and formative worlds, reflection of the Sphere of Saturn, passing through the abodes of the Elements and the Shells of the Dead! I am the Path of Seb and of Set! I am the Path of the Great Mother of the Gods! The Great One of the Night of Time! Before me stands ATU XXI, as the Gate to the Path of Tau, the Thirty-second Path of Sepher Yetzirah, the Administrative Intelligence! The magician then takes the Atu in his right hand and circumambulates appropriately. End in the East, place the Atu between the Pillars of Hermes and of Solomon, and give the Sign of the Enterer and then the Sign of Silence. Return the Atu to the Altar and say the conjuration; (number) Path of Sepher Yetzirah! Long hast thou dwelt in the darkness! Quit the Night and seek the Day! Reveal thy might irresistible! Purify the Atu with the Lustral Waters and consecrate it in the smoke of the incense before assuming the correct Asana and projecting Astrally into the Path which the card is but a doorway into. In this plane the magician should observe all of the disciplines necessary, as has been thoroughly explained previously, and upon completion of the journey, he should close the Temple appropriately and make an exact record of all that was experienced on his Astral Travels in the Path of the Serpent.
