Company Overview ( How did Apollo Come into existence):

It is often said that nothing happens, unless there is a dream first. At the genesis of the Apollo story there was a dream. A dream so powerful, that it helped transform the medical landscape in India. The dream nurtured and grew within Dr. Prathap C Reddy, the founder Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, until the point of inflection happened in 1983. A young man succumbing to an ailing heart was what it took to ignite Dr. Reddy's vision into a reality - a vision where quality healthcare was given, where the pursuit of clinical excellence was daily endeavor, India a hub in the medical tourism map and where the Apollo family touches and enriches lives every minute, every day. Today, with over 8500 beds across 54 hospitals, and a significant presence at every touch-point of the medical value chain, Apollo Hospitals is one of Asias largest healthcare groups. Commenced as a 150 bed hospital, today the group has grown exponentially both in India and overseas. Its growth is often said to be synonymous with India emerging as a major hub in global healthcare. Apollo Hospitals is driven by a single thrust, to provide the best standards of patient care. It is this passion that has lead to the development of unique centers of excellence across medical disciplines, within the Apollo Hospitals network. Apollo Hospitals has JCI accreditations for 7 of its hospitals, the largest by any hospital group in the region. True to its founding principles, the group has made quality healthcare accessible to the people of India, and even overseas. It has become an institution of trust, and a beacon of hope to so many searching for a cure for their ailments. The legacy of touching and enriching lives stems from the pillars of the Apollo philosophy experience, excellence, expertise and research. We pride ourselves for constantly being on the cutting edge, and going the extra mile to stay relevant and revolutionary. The Apollo Hospitals Group is the pioneer of integrated healthcare delivery in India. This vision led the group to earmark time and resources to strengthen each vital cog in the process of healthcare delivery. As a result of these efforts, the group today is in a unique position to exponentially increase its healthcare cover. This will be critical in order to meet future requirements. Apollo Hospitals Group, today, is an integrated healthcare organization with owned and managed hospitals, diagnostic clinics, dispensing pharmacies and consultancy services. In addition, the groups service offerings include healthcare at the patients doorstep, clinical & diagnostic services, medical business process outsourcing, third party administration services and health insurance. Small deeds make a big difference. This was the inspiration behind establishing SAHI'- Society to Aid the Hearing Impaired. SAHI seeks to identify hearing impaired children, mainly in rural areas, with little or no access to modern medical treatment. It is a scientifically proven fact that as children grow and develop they learn about sound with little effort. But it can be a daunting task for a child with hearing impairment to understand sounds and develop language & communication skills, which in turn affects the child's personal development and process of reasoning and education. To address this and many more such problems associated with the hearing impaired, renowned medical professionals at Apollo Hospitals along with a group of concerned citizens volunteer their services for SAHI. Apollo Reach hospitals

It has always been our passion and desire to make our expertise, experience and technology available to every individual in our country. Apollo Hospitals' commitment to make good healthcare

available to everyone led to the birth of Apollo Reach - a first of its kind endeavour to make advanced technology and experienced medical professionals accessible to the people living in rural and semiurban areas in the country. Shri. Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honble Prime Minister of India inaugurated the first Apollo Reach Hospital at Karim Nagar, Andhra Pradesh in 2008 . This marked the official launch of Apollo Reach Hospitals, a pioneering initiative of the Apollo Hospitals Group envisaged for reaching world-class healthcare to semi urban and rural India. Setting up hospitals in rural or semi-urban areas is a rigorous, time-consuming procedure. And our 25 years of rich experience in setting up hospitals across the country and the world, has helped us accurately identify Indian towns that are in urgent need of healthcare facilities. We have a wide array of offerings apart from regular medical facilities ,including pharmacies to insurance services, which will now be available to those in semi-urban regions as a result of this initiative. Apollo Hospitals has some of the best medical professionals across various specialties, and they too can now be accessed by individuals in semi-urban regions through the new platform called telemedicine. In case of a serious medical condition that requires a specialists diagnosis or second opinion, patients simply have to walk in to Apollo Reach and access the respective specialist by telemedicine We are in the process of setting up hospitals in Karaikudi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Chittoor, and plans of establishing more facilities across the country are already underway. We look forward to expanding our reach in the years to come, till our dream of bringing quality healthcare within the reach of every individual becomes a reality.

CURE - An Apollo Hospitals cancer care initiative

The CURE foundation is an effort by Apollo Hospitals to bring cancer care to those who cannot afford it. Cancer among the poor is lethal. Due to a lack of information and resources, delays and inadequate treatment are the norm. CURE extends preventive as well as rehabilitative cancer treatment to the economically backward.

Objectives of CURE Prevention & early detection

CURE aims to spread awareness about cancer, its causes, symptoms and treatment options. This will benefit not only the population at large but also those at a high risk, such as chronic tobacco users, people with a family history of cancer etc. It will also guide general practitioners and health professionals in early detection of the disease.

Prevention of some cancers is possible by educating people about lifestyle, diet, hygiene, harmful effects of tobacco and smoking cessation. Early detection of malignant conditions can have a huge impact on the final outcome.

Spreading knowledge
The future of oncology lies in research. The CURE foundation will undertake active research in basic sciences and in clinical fields. Knowledge grows by sharing. The CURE foundation will promote scientific exchange and spread of knowledge by organizing conferences, seminars, workshops etc. Sponsoring individuals for fellowships to renowned institutes abroad will also further this cause. The foundation will update the medical fraternity of the latest techniques and hopes to provide a comprehensive data bank with periodicals, reference books and internet facilities to help doctors dispel ambiguity inherent in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Treatment options
The CURE foundation is networked with specialists in reputed hospitals like Memorial Sloan Kettering, City of Hope & New York Hospital to provide the most updated treatment to impoverished patients for whom this would otherwise be a distant dream. CURE can pool the world's best technologies, techniques and clinicians' expertise to serve this cause. It will also use the multi-modality Tumor Board where specialists from all oncological branches come together to offer unbiased opinion regarding each patient's treatment.

Rehabilitation & care

Cancer patients need social, psychological, physical and vocational rehabilitation. The CURE foundation offers patients a holistic approach towards seizing the moment, the day and their life ahead. It will guide them about lifestyle, attitude, exercises, diet and more. Care of terminally ill patients is stressful but imperative. The foundation will play a role in assuaging the needs of such patients.
