A Pain More Than Pain

For more years than I care to think about I spent in pain that was the result of a motor bike accident that happened almost four decades ago. Fortunately for me Father had grown a crop of trust in my soul well before this event. Unfortunately for my friends and family I had a lot to learn about interpersonal relationships and the medications I took to attempt to control the physical pain meant I became even more unlikeable. I didnt recognize that the medications were taking me into a cloud space that others could not share. And the separation between real life and cloud life made it impossible to share with each other. What kept us connected was our sharing a relationship with Father. I did not lose that previously established trust relationship with Dad and the others trusted that He would get us through the troubles. I have to give a vote of thanks both to Dad for holding us all up and my family especially who suffered the most for standing with me. Looking back now there ha ve been some interesting reflections. First of these is how easy it has been to unlearn my old pain threshold. At the time when I was asked how my pain was out of 10, I would invariably answer 11, even if it was only 8 or 9. Now, when I have a headache that is 2 or 3 out of 10 compared with then: it nearly stops me. The object lesson from this is that troubles are situational. We get pain or trou bles that we have the capacity to tolerate even if we do not feel like we can. The enemy will try to exaggerate our troubles to bring a wedge between ourselves and Dad but that is not the reality. We have promises from God that He knows our ability to endure and that He will not permit anything to happen that we cannot deal with . Paul puts it this way.
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help you come through it. ! Cor 1 0:13 (Msg)

Following on from this is that God is a good Father. When we experience troubles it is not right to blame God for situations that may have been of our making, or at least were out of our control. Jesus spoke of this when He asked as part of the Mountain Message as recorded in Matt 7:11.
As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?

When things happen, they happen for our benefit. Father allows good things that we may benefit from them; sometimes it may be hard to understand something as good when we see it as not good. Paul in the letter to the Romans 8:28 said this.
We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose ,

So if you are going through some sort of troubles as I was Father has the reason. We learn from the good and bad experiences to Fathers glory if we remain in a trust relationship with Him. He is faithful and Jesus has promised never to leave us: it was a shame few of His followers did that for Him.
