Week of July 31-August 6

Welcome Consider teaching the Doxology to your HG. Praise God from whom all blessing flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Praise gives perspective! Opening Prayer Welcome everyone & highlight anything significant to the group before you pray (birthdays, an anniversary, a special prayer need, etc.) Ask someone who is comfortable to pray, asking for Gods blessings on your HG tonight.

Become (Spiritual Disciplines, Care) // Pick at least one from each category to use in leading your group
Suggestions for Family Time A) Lets plan a Home Group compassion project together. (Have someone write down the plans as they are being made.) What do you want to do? Who can we serve? How can we be a blessing to others? (Let ideas be shared & then land on one.) Take 3-5 minutes to make some plans on what we can do...how we can accomplish our goal. NOW...ask the group: Did we leave God out of our planning? Why is it so important to invite Him to be involved in our plans? B) Break into groups (adults & children) & memorize Proverbs 16:9, In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Come back together to recite the verse & talk about what this means. Suggestions for Kids Time A) Teach the children the books of the New Testament in order. Break into smaller groups & get the older kids to help teach the younger. Work on this for 10-15 minutes. Make it fun! It may take a few weeks to get it, so be persistent. Plan a future HG night to have the kids recite these to the adults. The POINT: We love Gods Word & need to learn the different books of the Bible to help us know God better. B) What do you want to be when you grow up? Use markers & paper to draw what you want to do/be when you grow up. After the kids finish, let them share their drawings. Afterwards, ask the kids what part should God play in our plans & dreams for our future? Remind the kids of Proverbs 16:9 & encourage them to look to God to guide their steps in life. Suggestions for Adult Time A) Lets talk about God. How would you describe Him? (ex: Almighty, knows everything, is everywhere, perfect, giving, forgiving, etc.) When you think about how great God is, how does that affect the way you think about yourself? POINT: We should be humble before God & follow His will because HE ALONE IS GOD. Who He is impacts who I am & what I do. B) James strongly discourages believers from boasting about their plans for tomorrow. Whats the difference between boasting about tomorrow & making plans for the future? How does the presence of God in your life affect tomorrow? Suggestions for Prayer Time A) Read Jeremiah 9:23-24 together. Focus your prayer time on boasting in the LORD. He is worthy of our boasting! B) John the Baptist said of Christ, He must become greater; I must become less. (John 3:30) Lets take some time to pray that the presence of Jesus in our lives would become even greater...that people would see the transformation in us for the glory of God!
