Heathrow virtual ATC X Pilot training Student Pilot lesson one

Introductions
Welcome to your first Flight Simulator X student pilot lessons with HVAX. This lesson will take between one and two hours depending on how you learn and what you already know about virtual flying. In this lesson, we will be going over the basic of flying in a virtual aircraft. Therefore, in this lesson we will be going over straight and level flight, turns, climbs, and descents. This may seem all to much to fast but if you need more time or need time or extra information or help just let your trainer know and he will see what he can do. (Note: Before taking this lesson make shower that you steady all of the information on are website in regards to this lesson).

Lesson briefing
You will start your lesson at Bristol airport on runway 27 in a Cessna172SP with your trainer already setup. Your trainer will takeoff and climb to 3,000 feet for you so just sit back and relax for the moment. When your train has leveled out at 3,000 feet he/she will go over all of the different instruments in this aircraft and what you will be doing in this lesson. As this is your first lesson the weather will be very light winds and clear skies.

Lesson plan
Straight and level flight
First off we are going to learn how to stay straight and level in this aircraft its important to learn this as it will help you when it comes to the climbs and descends. Your trainer will help you with your Speed, Altitude and give you tips on how to do this.

Turns
Next, we are going to learn how to turn the aircraft safely using many different instruments to archive this. Your trainer will show you how to do it three times and you will then try it yourself. Your trainer will seat the heading bug for you and will help you keep the aircraft level but the rest is up to you. You will be turning to a heading of 180 degrees with a 10 degrees bank turn. Next, you will do another 10 degrees bank turn to a heading of 250 degrees. Next, you will be using a 20 degrees bank turn to a heading 270 degrees. Next, you will be doing another 20 degrees bank turn to a heading of 160 degrees. (This is a stranded rate of turn for any aircraft in the real world and in FSX for flying in a traffic pattern or small turns). Next you will be doing a 30 degress bank of turn to a heading of 306 degrees. Next, you will be doing another 30 degrees bank turn a 360 degrees back to a heading of 000 degrees.

Climbs
When it comes to setting up the aircraft for a climb you need to remember to add power, pitch up to about 10 degrees so the VSI is at 500 feet per minute and use your trim to help stabilizes you in the climb and try to keep your speed at about 90-80 knots. When it is time to level out from your climb you will need to pitch down to level out the horizon indicated and decrees power to about 23-24 RMP and then trim the aircraft for level flight. Your trainer will make a decent to 1,000 feet and then you will be making a climb to 3,000 feet and then level and maintain 100 knots off. Your trainer will show you how to do it before you try.

Descents
Next, we are going to learn how to make a decent form 5,000 feet to 2,000 feet and then level off. To making, a descent is just like making a climb the only different is that you are going down. To descend you will need to reduce power to about 20 RPM, pitch down to 3 or 5 degrees, and remember to use the trim to stabilize the aircraft. When you are making a descent try to keep your speed at 100-90 knots.

Hints and Tips

Remember to use your trim all of the time to help keep your aircraft stable Dont for get to add power when going in to a climb Remember to use slow steady movement on your joystick Try rolling out 10, 20 or 30 depending on your rate of turn When leveling out remember to reduce power to maintain 100knots
