WHATS HAPPENING
Road. on Mt. Hope Rd. Laymens Camp Meeting was started 47 years ago by men and women from several different denominations in the wider community. Don Loomis and the Blue Grass Revival will be in concert in the Tabernacle Sunday, Aug. 14th. at 7:P.M. Again the public is most welcome. There is no charge. However, a freewill offering will be taken each evening. n Dances are being held from 7 to 11 p.m. the third Saturday of each month at the Mecosta VFW. The dances are open to the public and cost $5 admission. The Lost Country Band plays during the dances. The dances are being held to promote something fun for young and old. Food also is available. For more information, contact Deb Stieg at (231) 972-1953.

n Laymens camp meeting will be held at the Carson City Christian Camping Center from Aug. 8-13, starting at 7 p.m. with music from different churches in the community. This years speaker is Dr. Rex Webb of Rainbow Lake. Webb started Amazing Grace Church in Gratiot County, where he was pastor for several years. He is now teaching classes for Fulton Schools and Lansing Community College. Webb will be speaking each evening after the music. Each evening different churches will host snack time for fellowship in the pavilion following the service. This is an opportunity for people from many different churches or from no church to come together at the tabernacle at the camp grounds. The C. C. Plan your next family reunion vacation with confidence

NORTH AMERICAN PRECIS SYNDICATE Family reunion vacations can provide unforgettable memories and unique opportunities to grow closer to loved ones. For the planners of these events, however, they can also present a challenge when it comes to balancing the familys needs. When its time for your next trip, consider these expert tips designed to guide the coordination process and even make it as stress-free as the vacation itself: Choose a destination Determine the destination based on how far you are willing to travel and the types of activities and attractions you are interested in. Families with smaller budgets looking for relaxation can take a road trip to a nearby beach or lake region while families with a larger budget searching for adventure might fly to Europe. Planning around prominent events, such as food and wine festivals, is also becoming an increasingly popular trend. Determine musthaves and nice-to-haves Work from your list of musthaves first, then add amenities as much as your budget will allow. Ocean views and access come with a bigger price tag but arent necessarily as critical to your vacation as accessibility for family members who may have trouble climbing stairs. Select a type of lodging Select the lodging type based

OFF AND RUNNING: Planning travel around a destinations prominent events is becoming an increasingly popular trend in family reunion vacations. (Courtesy Photo) on your family makeup. Rental homes such as those on Wyndham Rentals.com suit larger reunions well, especially ones with children, as they offer space for play, washer/dryer access, and kitchens to help cut down on the cost of food some even come with hotellike amenities. Prepare for travel abroad Remember to notify credit card companies, exchange money and come prepared with an emergency contact list. Be sure to also check your passports expiration date at least one month before traveling in case its time for it to be renewed. Streamline packing Coordinate with family members to lighten the load of packing by assigning items like toiletries and staple food items ahead of your trip. Creating a master schedule of meals is also very helpful for knowing who is making what and when. Have fun All planning aside, dont forget to enjoy this time with your family and capture the special moments. Bring your camera, videotape your trip, plan a fun family portrait and make an online album

to share the memories when you get home. For a chance to make your next trip an Ultimate Family Reunion or to win one of 101 vacations courtesy of Wyndham Vacation Rentals, visit www.WyndhamRentals. com/Contest. The grand prize includes a one-week stay for 10 family members, worth an estimated value of $28,000.

Have lots of love but not a lot of room? Volunteers are always appreciated!

These three brothers were released by their owners and in need of loving homes. They all enjoy chasing little movement whether it is a dust bunny or a cat toy rolling across the oor. They are very relaxed little guys who dont seem to mind much of anything. They are about 12 weeks old and ready for homes as of 6/15/11 after they have been neutered and made current on their vaccinations.

As we were getting ready to leave on a vacation to Hawaii, many times I heard those words. You are so Lucky, we cant afford to do that. The truth is I am lucky, but not in the sense that most people mean it. My denition of luck is: Priorities and Planning Meet Preparedness. We decided about two years ago we wanted to take a trip to Hawaii since neither of us had been there before. So the Planning begins! Saving money. Watching for deals on airfare and accommodations. So think about this process. You make a decision to do something. In your mind you see yourself there and creative process begins automatically. If you never decide to go, nothing will ever happen. So the rst step is the choice to do it. Next step is: how much mohlah are you going to need to make this happen. This is the Preparedness. Money is called currency. It is like the current in a stream. It implies ow and movement. In order for money to do something for you, it must move and go somewhere or to someone in exchange for what you desire. Currency does no good in your pocket. But to take a trip you need to accumulate some deniro to exchange for that trip. You do not want to do this on a credit card. Save up front, so it is all paid for. Lets say you need $5000.00. For most of us, we look at that and feel overwhelmed. We often think, I just do not have that kind of money. You are lucky to be able to do that, but I cannot afford it. So look at your budget. Ask yourself, How can I afford this? Where could you squeeze out a little money each month to begin accumulating some bling for that trip? Here are a few places in our daily lives where we could make some changes. Some people smoke. At, lets say, $4.00 per pack, which is $120.00 per month or $1440 per year. If you go out for dinner to Applebees or to the movies once a week for $30, that is $1500 per year. I used to party once month or more and spend easily $50, so that is $600. Most people spend $50 to $150 per month on cable TV. At the average rate, we have another $1200. How many of us buy doodads all time, junk that we do not need? Many of us spend $2-$5 per day for coffee and snacks. Another $1000 per year. Pack a lunch instead of eating out. Once you look, there are lots of possibilities. So, we have the three Ps: Priority, Planning and Preparedness. Once, we decide to go on this trip, to recharge our solar batteries, and see the world, we must make some priority decisions to budget the ow of some of that currency into the trip fund. It might take two or three years to build up your fun fund, but it will be well worth it. When you begin thinking like this, things happen. We found a great deal on a cruise that was half the usual price. That happened because we were prepared, not because we were lucky. Changing your thinking like this is great for your health. You eliminate a bunch of really bad, unhealthy habits and convert them into life-changing, mind-expanding experiences. A week of sun xes the winter blues and greatly helps seasonal depression. Put Your Health in Your Own Hands. Bob Huttinga PA-C. 989-352-6500.

You are so Lucky!!
